Near to bars and restaurants four swimming pools golf disabled friendly.

This is our home from home, and we have tried to make it the same for you, with lots of little touches that will make you feel at home straightaway. It is a hot and cold air conditioned 2 bed 2 bathroom apartment on beach and short walk to bars and restaurants. Sea view and view of pool and garden. The main bedroom is ensuite, with a separate guest bathroom.

There are 4 swimming pools, paddle tennis, library and gym on site. Excellent golf course 5 minutes walk. Large terrace for alfresco dining. Suitable for wheelchairs and grab rail in bath. Lifts to all floors. Parking space available. Wifi is available in the table tennis/library area and by the pools. Beautiful and quiet port area with plenty of nice bars and restaurants but not suitable for clubbers. Excellent beach bars. Assistance available from local agents. Trips available including Gibraltar, Morocco, Ronda, Selwo Safari, people watching in Puerto Banus and white villages in mountains. Boat hire from Marina.

Kitchen includes fridge freezer, microwave and washing machine plus everything you need. My wife, Laraine, is a keen cook and collected a number of utensils, which means that the kitchen is perhaps better equipped than usual. 32' flat screen TV with Sky and Spanish TV, music centre, games, puzzles and books. All main rooms have ceiling fans. In fact everything for a great holiday young or old.

Golf: We can organise golf packages on request.

Apartment Smelt of Sewage

The apartment smelt of sewage. We reported it twice but the maintenance men said they could not smell it. Our friends who visited us also said it was awful and we should not have had to stay in an apartment that smelt so bad. The owners have since commented that it happens in the apartment block sometimes that is why there are fans. We bought candles to try and mask the smell. We would have come home early if it was not for our friends. I would not recommend this apartment or the block to anyone.

Owner's Response: I am very sorry that Hilary experienced this. It seems that an adjacent apartment suffered a leak that caused some odours to come into our apartment. This has now been fixed, I understand. As I explained to Hilary, we installed fans into the outlets in the bathrooms to deal with normal usage, but clearly they were not enough to cope with such an unusual problem. There should be no further problems. We are also installing Wifi this week for our renters. Simon (owner)

the first day can make or break your holiday i was given all the information i needed to collect the keys duquesa estates is looking after the property for the owner and they are mostly english.

Apartment was clean with every thing you need i was especially pleased with the fridge freezer as we didnt eat out much .Complex looked the best one in duquesa unles you are a golfer

Nice holiday

We stayed in Duquesa for nearly 5 weeks (may-june).

The apartment is located perfectly between tourist town-like Puerto and local pueblo called Sabinillas. Nearby there were plenty of shops, playgrounds, beaches, bars etc, but a car is a must if you want to visit other cities, beaches and to see some culture. The best rental price was offered by the only rental service in Puerto de la Duquesa, I can not remember the exact name, but it is about 3 mins from the apartment and you can not miss it in puerto. Cheap, fast and very good service in english. (Hertz, Sixt, and others are take at least double, if not triple the price).

Our family is not from England, previously we had only stayed in hotels and we had 2 children with us, so we were a little worried about our nightly arrival. However, Simon was very helpful and gave us all necessary information by e-mail and everything was precisely as he said it would be, which was beyond our expectations. Thank you :)

The apartment itself was good, nothing luxurious, but it had everything necessary. One could see that it was not entirely new apartment but it was clean and spacious enough for us. The terrace was overlooking a nice quiet pool :) The apartment is on the seaside and there is a long promenade to both ways - Sabinillas and Puerto. However, the sea on our beach was very cold and we had to drive all the way to Tarifa to swim in the ocean (not that we complain, Tarifa is a great place). We strongly suggest to visit Ronda, Tarifa, Gibraltar, which we liked the most.

A tip - the food in Sabinillas is much better and cheaper than in Puerto. For example a plate full of gorgeous langusts and shrimps in Sabinillas was 5 €, versus a plate full of grease, oily meat and french fries was 10 €. Also, if you speak a little spanish, you get a discount in Sabinillas restaurants:)

Overall it was a great holiday and a nice place for families with children!

A perfect family holiday.

We had never been to Duquesa before and we were a little anxious as we had saved long and hard for a holiday abroad and wanted it to be worthwhile. However, we needn't have worried as both the resort and apartment were brilliant. I would advise anyone considering using the resort or the apartment to look into flying to Gibraltar - a great little airport with a really quick turn around and no long waits through customs or baggage reclaim. Once in Duquesa we found the agents without any problems, collected the keys and made our way to the nearby apartment. It was superbly equipped, very very clean and also comfortably cool - no trouble sleeping here due to the heat which is something I normally suffer from. The complex has four pools and we preferred the one below the apartment as it was warmer and had fewer people around it - although none were over crowded, even in August. The resort was family friendly with a wide choice of restaurants and bars to cater for all budgets. Castilla and Sabinallas can both be reached by walking along the prom and both are lovely but we still preferred Duquesa. We didn't hire a car and this wasn't a disadvantage in the resort as everything is within walking distance.The beach is so clean and unspoilt - one of the best I've been to in Spain - and is on the doorstep of the apartment. We used the nearby Mercadonna supermarket that is still cheaper than in the UK, despite all the warnings we were given.

Overall it was a fantastic relaxing holiday with an apartment that didn't disappoint. I will have no hesitation in recommending both to my family or friends and would love to return again in the future.

I found this apartment on the web site and was exactly how it was described. It is in a large complex, however when we went in October it was nice and quiet. We were the only ones in one of the four swiming pools. The instructions to pick up the keys were straight forward.The office staff in the resort were friendly and very helpful. The apartment is in a great location within walking distance of the port, beach, local shops and restaurants. It is a great apartment, clean and has everything you need. I would definately go back again.

Situated 100 metres from Duquesa Marina, and adjacent to Duquesa Golf and Sabinillas and Duquesa blue flag beaches. 25 minutes from Gibraltar, 50 minutes from Malaga. Puerto Banus and Marbella within easy reach. Rail journey from San Roque to Ronda is a must. Casares white village 15 minutes away. Granada and Seville about 2.5 hours away. For children the Selwo Safari park is only 15 minutes away. Water parks and other theme parks are also within easy reach.

Golfers have an excellent course on their doorstep, plus Dona Julia 6 star golf resort and Estepona Golf 5 minutes away. 50 courses in total within easy reach.

The marina has a multitude of quailty international restaurants and bars. A further 5 mins walk past the marina will take you to the tiny Spanish village of Castillo with its castle and number of fish and Tapas restaurants. Casillo has its own fishing fleet and has some of the best fish on the coast.

Other Activities: Boat hire

Golf: About 5 minutes walk takes you to the club house at Duquesa Golf. This is an excellent course with spectacular views of the Mediterranean. 2 Other courses are within 5-10 mins drive, including the new Don Julia complex with its proposed 6 star spa resort. Valderama is about 20 mins drive ( one of the best courses in Europe. Our agents can organise special deals and discounts on many courses.

Wheelchair and electric buggy users have managed well in the apartment. We installed special grab rail in the main bathroom. Welcome food pack available. We operate a book exchange so if you take one please replace it. Sky box is there and additional programs can be obtained if you bring your Sky card. On the balcony is a table and chairs to seat 6 plus 2 recliners. We have never eaten indoors, as the balcony is large ebough to seat 6 comfortably, but the facilities are there. The gym is up and running now, and key is obtained from security, but trainers must be worn. We haven't tried the sauna yet. Supermarket (Supermercado) 5 mins away and very reasonable, plus small shops on the edge of the port, including a very good English butcher.
