Our cabin offers a peaceful break from everyday life. The cabin is secluded on the banks of our privately owned lake with the Big Thicket surrounding it. Sit on the porch and enjoy all the Big Thicket has to offer. The cabin rental includes a canoe, oars, and life vests for your use, catch and release fishing in our stocked lake (poles and bait not provided), a covered bbq area with picnic table and grill, and an outdoor fire pit area with rustic seating.

We provide an ample supply of fresh linens, starter toiletries, and coffee set up. Daily housekeeping is not provided. The roomy cabin provides a Q-bed, twin bunk beds, a large reclining couch and Dish Network tv, a full kitchen with cookware and service for 4, a full bath, and AC/heating. The front porch provides a lakefront view with comfortable seating. For extended stays a laundry room may be available for an additional fee.

Our cabin is just 5 miles from the Big Thicket Visitor Center and entry to their famous hiking and canoeing trails. A 10-minute drive from the cabin, into Kountze, provides access to groceries, gas, and restaurants, and unique shopping and local art at Kountze Trade Days on the 4th weekend of each month.

We are 30 miles from the nearest hospitals and airports, and due to the natural terrain and stair-only access, we are not handicapped accessible. Well behaved children are welcome and will find much to do, but must be closely supervised at all times around the lake and local wildlife. No smoking or pets allowed. Cabin must have a renter over the age of 21 present for the duration of your stay.

Owner's Response: We're so glad you and your sons were able to relax and get in some fishing. With these record breaking rains, Texas is certainly trying to make up for the drought! We look forward to seeing you in the Spring.

Enchanting and magical!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I were looking for a quiet getaway for our anniversary and we found Melissa's cabins. Everything was absolutely perfect. The cabin was stocked with all the little things you might need for your stay such as linens, towels, dishes, guides, books and yes... even bug spray! But aside from the hospitality you get here the lake is truly enchanting. The cypress trees and lily pads surrounding the water give the place an ethereal feeling. The peace and quiet make for a truly tranquil visit. If your a writer its a great place to focus on your novel! Or if you just want to have some fun there is a pavilion with a pool table, a fire pit, and canoes. The catch and release fishing is bountiful. Cell phone services is limited so it forces you to disconnect from the outside world and enjoy your surroundings. You must visit this cabin to appreciate! We will definetely be back.
