Overview

Photos and Description of this 7 bedroom holiday chateau / country house in Kings Lynn & West Norfolk - The Old Mill

North Norfolk Coast, Cambridge, Stanstead and Norwich all within 1 Hour.

A totally unique holiday rental, this Grade II Windmill has been completely renovated to provide a stunning holiday home. Standing imposingly within its large garden the Mill offers 360 degree views stretching up to 20 miles from the 7th floor. The garden has heated pool and large BBQ area. The Mill boasts much character - internal beams, oak floors, wood stove, open fires and the former workings of the Old Mill. The huge kitchen/diner has French doors that lead to the garden. The split level heavily beamed sitting room is full of charm and character with the original mill stone as a main feature. The ground floor of the Tower is presented as a stunning formal dining room with round table. Additionally the Mill tower has a games room and three bedrooms with a further 4 bedrooms in the main house. A breathtaking glass walkway connects the house to the mill tower on the first floor.

Outside in the large Games Barn there is a ping-pong table, snooker table and table football.

Pool Information:

The Outdoor Pool is normally available from April to September (inclusive) depending on weather conditions.

We will be happy to heat the pool by arrangement during these months at an extra cost of £30.00 per day. This charge applies for the entirety of the rental period..

As the pool area is close to neighboring gardens we ask that guests exercise consideration and not use offensive language, loud music or shouting in the pool area.

The mini games room in the tower is equipped with TV, DVD, X Box, whilst the larger 50sqm games room by the pool has a full sized ping-pong table, a snooker table and a football table.

Private Dining.: (not available during school holidays)

The hugely popular Old Mill Private Dining Menu is a formal menu, cooked and served for you in the ground floor circular dining room of the Mill Tower on an evening of your choice during your stay.

Private Dining is ideal for special occasions such as birthdays or anniversaries, and bypasses the complications of a night in a restaurant with small children, taxis, designated drivers etc.

Private Dining Menus use seasonal and local produce where possible.

Unfortunately, Private Dining is not available during school holidays.

Absolutely stunning!

  • 5 of 5

The mill surpassed everything we imagined - the photos really don't do it justice! 13 of us stayed there for the weekend and there wasn't one of us who could resist running around like a kid when we first got there to explore all the quirky features.

Roaring fires, squishy sofas, stunning interior, comfy beds..

Perfect for a weekend with (close) friends or family and would make a great retreat for a week with the pool and garden.

Without question the best S/C place we've ever stayed...can't recommend it highly enough.

Truly amazing

  • 5 of 5

Myself and nine friends recently spent three nights at The Old Mill to celebrate my 30th birthday and had the most wonderful time in this amazing property which exceeded all our expectations- the pictures do not do it justice! Sandra and Gary were the amazing hosts I have come across from the ease of the pre-arrival administration, to the warm welcome and the truly delicious dinner that was catered for us on the Saturday night which added a really special touch to the whole weekend. Sandra and Gary went the extra mile to make sure it was a weekend to remember. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking for our large number with the whole house finished to a very high spec. We were at The Old Mill in the slightly cooler months but were never chilly once over the weekend. I can’t recommend this property enough (as well as the local pub, The Beddingfield Arms, in the village near by). We are already discussing our next trip to the Old Mill.

Thank you Sandra and Gary for making it such a memorable way to turn 30.

Spectacular

  • 5 of 5

First and foremost, the pictures of the mill understate it's beauty and elegance. I booked the property for a week in September to celebrate my 50th birthday. Each and every guest was in awe of my chosen venue, spectacular, beautiful, fabulous, awesome, quirky some of the adjectives expressed as they toured this wonderful property. The Mill far exceeded my expectations and wowed my guests who are world travellers used to 5* accommodations. Large open space inside and out for general mingling and dining, nooks and crannies for those needing quiet time. Beautifully presented, well equipped, pristine , yet warm and cosy, I felt immediately at home as I awaited the arrival of my guests .

Sandra and Gary (the owners) went above and beyond to ensure the week and particularly the black-tie dinner on Saturday night ( which was catered in-house ) was a phenomenal success. The food and service provided was on par with the best on offer in London. No request on my part, considered too great. A warm welcome from both and an open door policy ensured that we were happy and all went well throughout the week (including recommendations for local hairdressers and nail salons for the ladies in our group in advance of the dinner )

The success of this long anticipated celebration was due in no small part to their attention to detail, enthusiasm, and desire to ensure it was memorable for me, my family and friends.

Thank you both from the bottom of my heart for making it so.

A Beautiful Retreat

  • 5 of 5

The Mill was a great choice for a weekend away. It was tastefully decorated and incredibly clean. Sandra and Gary did the catering for a dinner we had one night. Both the food and the service was impeccable. The food could have been served in any 5 or 7 star restaurant. It looked both beautiful and tasted out if this world.

Excellent accommodation with a twist

  • 5 of 5

A truly unusual property, which lived up to it's description. A five night stay to celebrate our Ruby Wedding with our children and grandchildren, both 8 months old, was everything we wanted it to be. The Mill exudes a homely, boutique hotel type atmosphere, with spacious accommodation and the bonus of a heated swimming pool, which was most enjoyable. Crisp white linen on the comfortable beds, well stocked kitchen, everything we needed was on hand. Also a games room with table tennis and snooker, which went down very well with the guys! The Old Mill is situated in a very beautiful, unspoilt part of England, within easy reach of the coast. The owners were a lovely couple and very helpful; on hand if we needed them. We all had an amazing time and will certainly be visiting the Old Mill again next year!

Fabulous, Fabulous, Fabulous!!

  • 4 of 5

Spent a wonderful weekend here with my family. 15 of us and 2 dogs!! From the quirky workings of the tower creating interesting accommodation to the spacious kitchen and relaxing areas. With a large group of people this place was perfect. You can congregate in the large kitchen or spend some quiet time in the many rooms. The heated pool was perfect for the kids and adults. Plenty of activities in the games room and equipment provided for cricket, tennis, badminton etc.The main bathroom is finished to a high spec and the floor standing candelabra adds a class touch to a relaxing bath!!

I wouldn't hesitate in recommending or returning to this beautiful place.

Fields nearby were perfect for long walks with the dogs.
