Seal Beach is located just 22 miles south of Los Angeles, at the northern end of Orange County. Visitors seeking the California dream of beach, sun and ocean need look no further. Take sunset walks on the pier, watch world class surfing in the quiet retreat of undiscovered Seal Beach. Walk to Main Street and appreciate the still small-town atmosphere of eclectic boutiques, coffee shops, and restaurants.

In early April, the roar of Grand Prix race cars echoes through the city streets of Long Beach (just a mile north) during the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. Weekends host a Farmers Market in the nearby Alamito’s Bay Marina - and don’t miss the nearby Aquarium of the Pacific at Shoreline Village, at the foot of Pine Street in Long Beach. This is a harbor side shopping center with specialty shops, restaurants, a restored Looff carousel, and occasional live boardwalk entertainment.

Twenty minutes to Newport Beach, and Balboa Island night life. Thirty minutes to Disneyland and Knott’s Berry Farm. Two hour ferry to Santa Catalina Island (not to be missed!) Activities include fishing, sea kayaking, surfing, hiking, sailing, windsurfing, jet-skiing. Try whale watching or ride the Ferris wheel and the bumper cars at the Balboa Fun Zone - or take the Balboa Ferry to Balboa Island for just 60 cents!

Get ready to stretch out, relax and watch the wave of the Pacific Ocean roll gently toward the shore. Whether it’s a leisurely stroll along the beach, the roar of world-class stock cars racing in the shadow of glittering Long Beach skyscrapers, a picnic at one of the many local parks, or a concert under the moonlit sky, Seal Beach is a perfect vacation get-a-way. You can even experience a serenade by the gondoliers rowing an authentic gondola in the Venetian style on a cruise through local canals. Ocean breezes waft gently off the Pacific along a stretch of coastal paradise, while in the distance, a tall ship sets sail - These sights and many more await the visitor to romantic Seal Beach. Why Nancy chose Old Towne

There is not a better feeling than being in the unique area of Seal Beach...palm trees, small town feel with 'Main Street' boutigues and coffee shops, the sound of the waves is a hidden jewel that we could not help but fall in love with!

Excellent location and cute cottage

  • 5 of 5

Nancy was a pleasure to work with. Her cottage is precious with everything you could need. It was clean and loved having a washing machine and dryer in the garage. Loved the grill, the beach chairs to take to beach and the short walk to the beach and to be able to walk to town. This was lovely and will rent again if we are in the area.

Great home with good amenities

  • 5 of 5

Our second visit to this property was as expected. Homey, beachy, clean and comfy. My daughter (and granddog) once again enjoyed this cottage by the beach. Great location to downtown Seal Beach where the shopping and restaurants only get better each time we visit.

  • 4 of 5

Great location and very comfortable for two. As is fully described in the location detail you can hear some conversations & TV through the shared wall- other than that very nice.

Very comfortable beach bungalow. Home away from home.

  • 4 of 5

We loved this property. It's in a great location, quiet, and right next to the beach. It is supplied with anything you would need for your stay. Including a washer and dryer. Seal Beach city main street within walking distance. Such a quaint experience. Nancy is very helpful with any questions you may have. I would definitely come back to this vrbo.

Communication was not great, Place is a bit overpriced

  • 1 of 5

The one star is based mostly on our communication and honesty with the owner, not the place. The place gets 3 stars.

Upon booking you will suddenly get emails from Nancy letting you know she will not message you via the VRBO system as she says she is unable to--which is against their TOS. You will also receive a rental agreement which will then surprise you with a few things, I will mention those now.

1-The toilet is really close to the sink. My husband is 6,1 so it wasn't the most comfortable, but it was manageable. But I think she should add a picture to her place to show others how small it really is.

2-The BERM. When it is being constructed, the beach is closed. Which we emailed and asked her about, because the #1 reason we wanted this house was THE BEACH. We were able to enjoy it on Saturday and Sunday, but they were working on it on Monday.

Now, due to her lack of email communication, we did try to cancel and ask for a 100% refund 3 different times. She assured us everything would be fine with the beach and we would have access. I really think her 60 day policy is a bit much, as other sites do 30. I would have preferred honesty.

We asked for a pack n play for our baby, which she didn't use as it was hard, but was kind of put out that it wasn't set up when we got there. So trying to fit it in the bedroom was a bit difficult. We ended up not using it and having her sleep in between us otherwise we would have no walking room either in the bedroom.

Another thing I would do for future guests is leave a clear check out list of items to do before they leave, as we forgot to return the parking pass but noticed it at the airport. We mailed it back, which I'm assuming is why it took her over a week to process our deposit to be returned. I also had to email her to ask about the deposit, but she played it off like we were on the same page. Again, honesty is much nicer.

PROS: The location is AMAZING. That is basically what you pay for. Walk to food in less than half a mile, and the beach is outside. The bed is comfortable.

CONS: The pillows were all the flat kind, so we ended up putting blankets underneath as we both woke up with kinks the first night. Even with the fans, its hard to regulate the air temperature in the house, so I was worried for my baby. Would not recommend this place for kids. The non slip mat in the tub was kind of gross. Way overpriced cleaning fee to.

So if Location is what you want, this is a good place for it.

Owner's Response: I am so sorry that you were disappointed! The city of Seal Beach has certain requirements that must be met in order for me to continue this business. The VRBO website cannot accommodate the 5 page document so I do request personal email addresses for that purpose. (This explanation is included on the website). Also, long reponses in reply on the VRBO website come to me in 2 or 3 letters filing vertically down, so I am not able to read them. (Hence 3 emails that I could not decipher...) Overall, I have been doing this for over 10 years through personal email addresses and this is the first time there was distrust over my intentions. Yes, the toilet is very near to the sink! This is outlined in that 5 page rental agreement (as the building was constructed in 1940). The BERM is also explained in the Rental Agreement. It is constructed and placed according to the city's regulations. There is a contact number included so that you can ask the city directly if and when it will be there. We have no control over that. I wasn't aware of any request to cancel! We purchased the Pack n Play the night before just for your use, with no charge. There is a check-out list listed on the kitchen cabinet. In any case, we appreciate the return on the parking pass. It is customary to return the deposit within 7 days, which is customary. I have my personal cell phone posted along with the housekeepers number so that any dissatisfaction can be handled immediately. Yes, the weather is a bit unpredictable here in Seal the fans and heaters are our attempt to mediate this. It is unfortunate that your experience was unsatisfactory and I'm sorry that you might think there was any intention. I have always been honest with my guests.
