Beautiful home with world class golf views on the Wild Atlantic Way

Bedrooms 4
Property type house
Minimum Stay 7 nights

About the property

Very few homes are located as closely or have such spectacular views over both golf courses at Lahinch as this house. Designed with the living accomodation upstairs to maximise the views of the magnificant dunes on the Old Course Links on one side and the surrounding countryside including the Castle Course and the river estuary on the other. The balconies on all sides of house are perfect for sunbathing or enjoying the views. Lots of light and sunshine are all over the upper floor kitchen cum living area as well as in the separate den/study with its own balcony at rear. The large open fireplace with logs provides atmosphere in the evenings. The property is very family friendly with lawn for kids to play on at the side of the house and no danger from traffic (please note: not really recommended for children under two because of stairs).

About our house

The ground floor features the 4 bedrooms (2 ensuite with shower/WC) and the main bathroom with shower and tub. The upper floor is bright and warm with wooden flooring and various windows throughout. There's a spacious living area with open fire place and flat screen TV, as well as a separate den/study with own balcony. On the upper floor is the open plan kitchen/dining area, with a small veranda and stairways for a direct access to the patio/garden.

Exploring the Wild Atlantic Way in Clare

Using this house as your base, travel the length of the coast of Clare, from Galway Bay to the Loop Head Peninsula. The drive will bring you along miles of spectacular beaches and amazing cliff scenery while visiting Doolin , Spanish Point , Doonbeg , Kilkee and many places of interest along the way.

Bathing, surfing and sea kayaking

The sandy beach in Lahinch - in walking distance - is famous for all kinds of watersport activities; surfing schools provide lessons and the necessary equipment. An indoor swimming pool (also with sea aquarium) is located on the Lahinch strand promenade.

Hiking - The Burren eco park (see bellow) offers a variety of marked walking trails, many on the old "green roads" - the best way to explore this unique landscape! An exciting new trail leads along the Cliffs of Moher from Liscannor to Doolin.

The Burren coast

Exploring the Burren - The Burren is internationally famous because of its beautiful limestone landscapes and the remarkable flora as well as its rich archaeological heritage. It is the finest example of a karstic terrain in Ireland, with a full assemblage of the curious landforms and subterranean drainage systems that characterise these limestone terrains. The area also hosts 70 wedge-tombs (the most famous of them being Poulnabrone Dolmen), ring forts, caves (most notable Aillwee & Doolin Cave), castles (Leamenagh Castle) and a network of field walls and hut circles. The Burren Display centre in Kilfenora (20 mins.) provides an insight into the mysteries of the region and should be your first stop on your trip.

Visiting the Cliffs of Moher, Doolin and the Aran Islands

Only a couple of minutes away are the mighty Cliffs of Moher, Ireland's most famous landmark, with a state-of-the-art visitor centre. The Cliffs can also be explored by boat from Doolin, or by foot on the exciting cliff walk starting in Liscannor and saving you the parking fees at the visitor centre! Doolin harbour is also the starting point for the ferry to the Aran Islands, a day trip which shouldn't be missed.

If you are a golfer this location has much to offer. On the doorstep is the famous Old Course links at Lahinch and adjoining the house is the 18 hole Castle Course which is less challenging but highly regarded among golfers. Doonbeg Golf Resort is within 20 mins driving distance. Dromoland Castle Golf & Country Club (45 Mins). The famous courses of Ballybunion and Tralee are within 2 hours driving distance using the car ferry across the Shannon.

Great location

  • 5 of 5

We had so much fun in Lahinch. The house was perfect for us--lots of space, very clean and a great location. Nollie was a wonderful host and had thoughtfully provided us with everything we needed to be comfortable in her house. We would definitely love to stay there again.

Super house in a great location. Close enough to entrance to beach to walk to village by the beach which is lovely. Beds and bed linen very comfortable. Plenty of towels, kitchen well stocked.
