About Mary Guthrie
Came to Ecuador over 15 years ago and have enjoyed traveling all over the country.I grew up in Balboa Newport Beach Ca,Honolul ,Hawaii, and lived 30 years in Aspen, Co where II had a book store for many years. I love traveling and meeting people from around the world.
Mary Guthrie purchased this Cottage in 2008
Why Mary Guthrie chose Baños de Agua Santa
This casita is next to my house and was built as a guest house. You have the feeling that it is just what you need to make your vacation memorable. I had it built and designed for friendly, cosy, living. Quiet neighborhood and 5 minutes to spa with Banos de Cajón or steam box and health treatments. 5 min to town center by car . Buses and taxis are passing very close by,less than half a block.
What makes this Cottage unique
Would you like fly through the air on a zipline, swing out over a canyon, climb to the top of a tree house, fly or spin fish, climb green mountains, see our volcano Tungurahua, travel along roadways with orchids, giant ferns, butterflies, hummingbirds, waterfalls? You can go by mountain bike,3 or 4 wheelers,or by bus .. COME AND SEE FOR YOURSELF!

Clean, close to eveything, well stocked, flowers to coffee!
Felt much larger than pictures! Just loved the homey safe feeling! Mary was wonderful!
Just lovely! The casita is absolutely charming, just as pictured but actually more spacious than the photos show. Everything is in full working order, everything is immaculate. It's nice and bright, and the view from the kitchen window makes doing the dishes almost a pleasure.
Mary is the perfect hostess, available at a moment's notice to help, but never intrusive (her house and the casita are on the same property, but are entirely private from each other).
Walking into Baños would be possible, but we never did since the blue bus (30 cents) is frequent, or one of the taxis passing by ALL the time costs $1.25 to anywhere in town. The same bus in the opposite direction (towards Puyo) goes to waterfalls including the Pailón del Diablo, ziplines, cable cars, etc.
We would recommend the Casita Ohana without reservation.
Thank you for your lovely recommendation. I so enjoyed meeting you both and seeing your beautiful ikebana flower and plant arrangements and George's superb photos!
Very special guests indeed!
We stayed in Mary’s casita for a month while exploring Baños and the surrounding area. The house was beautiful and in a wonderful, quiet location. It was a perfect place to set out from for area adventures and exploration. We found it to be a pleasant walk to the town center but buses and taxis also came by constantly. The Refugio Spa, only a block away, was a great place to enjoy the pools, mud baths and Baños de cajón. Mary was the perfect host and we hope to return to Baños and her casita again.
Lovely, comfortable, convenient casita
Mary is the perfect (and charming) host. Everything is just as pictured - this is a well-constructed, modern yet charming guest house. Beds are comfortable, hot water is hot, kitchen is equipped with everything you'd need for a few nights stay - or for a month! Television has CNN (we've been watching Hurricane Irma and worrying about our folks and friends in Florida ;-( . It's just a few steps to a beautiful hike up the hill where there's a lovely spa and an awesome view of Tungurahua. We hope to return to Baños, and if we do, we'll return to Mary's casita.
Thank you Susan and Ken for your comments.
Looking forward to having you back.
Comfortable, clean, everything we needed. Mary was very friendly and made you feel welcome.
Mary was informative and had suggestions.
