We really did forgot the outside World and Relaxed
The location is perfect. The only sounds you hear are the lobster boats, the water lapping at the shore and the occasional call of the loons. Corea is almost as if time stood still. It is the quintessential New England fishing village with the friendliest people and the best lobster. We just wished we could have had more time. Definitely will return.
We truly enjoyed our stay at Jackie's cottage in Corea. Most relaxing week we have spent in years. We had lovely weather and the area is charming.
Rick and Lindee Dye
We booked this cottage four times over a five year
Clean, bright and architeurally very compatible with what a Maine cottage should look like. Surrounded by water on three sides. The almost silent fishing village Corea is nearby and a unique golf course 20 minutes away. Book early!
Lovely home in Stunning Location
Jackie's home is comfortably equipped and strikingly located.
Three years ago the rental we had been using on Gouldsboro Bay for 29 years became unavailable. Having found Jackie's place on HomeAway and being unable to glimpse it from the road, we paddled to it in our canoe. It is an honestly breathtaking spot, on the eastern point of Newman's Cove, that affords views both up the bay beyond Point Francis and seaward past Sally and Eastern Islands towards Petit Manan Light and the Atlantic.
The deck offers outdoor ease, the yard is furnished with lounge chairs and picnic tables, you can launch your small boats from the rocky shore. There is privacy and always the fabulous light of open shore living. When the storm rolls in the gas stove is warming, the kitchen well-equipped for the cook, and the living areas spacious, with plenty of glass to keep you visually connected to your bit of shore.
Jackie is a great communicator, the house manual describes all area activities and there is a terrific house library.
Hi Jackie....we just wanted to thank you for sharing your piece of paradise with us. The "cottage" is clean, well equipped with high end appliances and furniture and just a delight to visit. Inside or outside we loved the Maine experience. A lovely front deck right above the water let us observe kayaks and lobster boats. And so many things to see. Schoodic Peninsula, Acadia National Park, whale watching nearby. Something for everyone-hikers, kayakers, readers and good food abounds. We have enjoyed out two week retreats for multiple years.
A tranquil and private get away spot!
An incredibly beautiful location, serene and on the water as shown, with amazing views of sunset & sunrise as well as the night sky! A well equipped, comfortable, cottage that felt like home. Includes a small yard with picnic table and grill. Plenty to do from playing on the rocky shoreline at the cottage at low tide, to visiting the many area artist shops and galleries, dining at local restaurants, and a fun ferry boat ride from Winter Harbor to Bar Harbor. Also, our favorite is hiking the Schoodic Peninsula and catching the sunrise in Lubec, the easternmost town in the contiguous United States, which is just a 1.5 hr drive.
Lobster fishing is still a way of life on the Schoodic Peninsula, which includes the towns of Winter Harbor and Gouldsboro. There are several villages in Gouldsboro--Corea, Prospect Harbor, Birch Harbor, Wonsqueak Harbor and Bunker's Harbor. Take a very scenic ferry ride from Winter Harbor to Bar Harbor where L.L. Bean provides free bus transportation around Mount Desert Island. There is a sand beach not far from the cottage as well as swimming in Jones Pond. Look for sea glass along the shore in Prospect Harbor. Visit the farmer's market in Winter Harbor on Tuesday mornings. Vacation in August and take classes during the two week Schoodic Arts for All Festival. Summers offer theater, live music, interesting lectures and programming for adults and children at Acadia National Park on the Schoodic Peninsula.
