|Minimum Stay||7 nights|
Quinta Luzia is a typical traditional Algarvian farmhouse that has been restored to the highest of standards. Internally we have all mod cons like an American fridge with ice maker, dish washer and washing machine. The living room has satellite TV and has been tastefully furnished with leather sofas and fabulous original paintings by a local artist. Externally the extensive terraces boast a 180 degree sea view from Faro to the Ria Formosa Natural Park. We have a gorgeous hugh swimming pool, a favourite with all children. The farmhouse is situated 1km from the village of Pechao, a quaint village with minimarket, shops, banks, pharmacy and several restaurants and bars. The area retains the true character of Portugal away from the busier tourist areas yet still only 15mins drive from Faro airport and 5mins drive from the sea.
Things to do: Being centrally placed along the Algarvian coast, Quinta luzia is ideally placed for exploring the whole of the Algarve. For those seeking culture Faro is only about 10km away with historic old town and Estoi is only about 5kms away with Palace and Roman Ruins. Faro is the capital of the Algarve and has all you would expect from a busy European city including a huge new shopping mall with cinema, food hall and designer boutiques. The closest beach is about 3kms. We recommend the beaches on the islands off Olhao as the most unspoilt beaches in the Algarve! The Ria Formosa natural park is just up the coast and well worth a visit. Within a 30min drive you will find all the tourist attractions eg. waterslide parks, zoo marine (with swimming with dolphins), casinos, nightclubs etc. etc.
Golf: The farmhouse is ideally placed for golfers as there are championship courses to both to it's east and west. We are able to arrange reduce rates on most of the well known courses through are local contact, please just ask for more information.
We stayed at Quita Luzia during half term after we'd day visited friends staying there the previous Summer. We know the area well and this lovely property suited our needs brilliantly. We have three energetic teenage boys and we all appreciated the generous and well appointed living spaces as well as the outside area. They could not get enough of the brilliant pool area and we all enjoyed the tremendous outside Sun lounging and eating areas.
One of the great things is that that there are so many different areas to enjoy the Sun and also plenty of shaded space which you will really appreciate in the height of Summer.
The description of the property is spot on. The pool was crystal clear (not always the case with Algarvian pools) and everything worked as it should. The kitchen is huge and has everything you would want, including a large fridge to keep the beer and vinho verde nice and cold. The property was very clean with plenty of towels and linen. Kate the owner was lovely and very easy to deal with. This is an ideal property for two large families who want to holiday together and also have their own space as well.
For those not familiar with the area we thoroughly recommend it for family holidays. It has a traditional Portuguese feel to it but also has plenty to keep adults and teenagers with all they need for a brilliant holiday. A car is a must to make the most of the area. No stay at Quinta Luzia would be without a trip to the islands of Armona or Farol. Make a day of it and eat at one of the fab restaurants or take food to barbeque on the beach. Magical days that set the bar for family holidays.
We hope you enjoy your stay at Quinta Luzia as much as we did.
Arrived after a short drive from the airport to find a hidden treasure. The house is amazing, a spacious home from home. 4 bedrooms. 3 bathrooms plenty of room for everyone, the kitchen has all you need, then you exit via the rear door to find the bbq area, this then leads to the fantastic pool and terrace area which provides all you need for a perfect relaxing break with plenty of shaded areas if you need some relief from the sun!! Gardens with stunning views and plenty of space for the younger ones in our group to explore. With several good restaurants and bars within easy walking distance and the town only 5 minutes drive away its the perfect place to base yourself for a fantastic holiday in the sun. Our family ranged from 9 years to 78 and all had a great time, the only downside is that we had to leave. Can't wait to go back.
Just returned from a fantastic holiday in this house with 7 friends. There was 4 couples and the villa suited perfectly (other than one couple had the bunkbeds!) The house was really well equipped, a great size with a huge fridge freezer which made ice which was used regularly in the Portuguese heat!! If we thought inside the house was good outside was even better. The pool was great, a huge table and chairs where every meal was eaten, great BBQ and tones of space. The house is located in a great spot, its pritty remote but as long as you have a car its not far from lots of great things to do.
The owners were really helpful and provided really helpful local information and advice. Over all I would totally recommend this house we had a wonderful holiday.
Just back from Quinta Luzia (24th Oct-1st Nov) and we had a fabulous time - thank you!The farmhouse was perfect for our needs and also the size and adult/child split of our group. (2 adults, 2 x 14yr olds, one 12yr old and one 10yr old)
The kids were lost all day to us, busy in the pool or running round the garden - the space there is amazing and it was exactly what we were looking for. Discovering inflatables in the pool shed was a real bonus so the kids had all sorts of games all day in the lovely pool. The house and grounds are so big that I even managed to get some quiet time on my own and adopted the lower terrace as my own private space which not only was very peaceful, it was also a brilliant little sun trap. I read six books so it must have been quiet! We had fab weather - towards the end of the week it hit the high 20s - with only one day without sun. In fact, we only left the farmhouse to go to the beach once during the whole stay - everyone was just happier to be at home, by the pool or exploring.
It's really well equipped - even simple things like having that amazing fridge freezer complete with water and ice dispenser was a godsend for the kids, as were the plastic cups and plates which we insisted they use at all times whether indoor or out. There's all the crockery, cutlery, glassware and cooking equipment you could ever need to feed a party the maximum size the place sleeps, let alone just six of us.
We loved our evenings outside by the bbq which was a chance for John and I to have quiet time together while the kids watched TV. You have no idea how well having UK channels went down given we are in peak X Factor season! Likewise, being able to play our iPods through the stereo to the outside as well as indoors was a real treat. The bathrooms were superb - all of them - but of course having the dinner plate shower head in the en suite with lashings of pressure and hot water was a real luxury. My teenage girls had the lower bathroom with the wet room shower and the two youngest had the one off the lounge. Totally spoiled!
All in all, a fantastic success and we have all agreed it is an experience
we'd like to repeat, as soon as we can!
Thanks again - a superb holiday in a beautiful house with everything we could possibly have wanted. Thanks to Minty too for being on hand to answer any questions we had.
We stayed here from 12th-26th September 2009. We had the two adults with a toddler and a baby and the grandparents with us too. The upstairs is almost self contained so they had that bedroom with en-suite and we had the downstairs for us and the children. Everywhere was spotless when we arrived which is always a good sign and Richard greeted us within minutes of arrival. The pool was great, the outside grounds are lovely and the house is literally home from home. Equipped superbly. Eating here has to be done outside, you have 3 tables to choose from let alone the actual kitchen one! We loved the fact we could lock the gates therefore keeping children from escaping and keeping anyone out but we felt very safe the whole time. You must eat at the local restaurants, especially the one that is owned by the family who rent this accommodation. Brilliant welcome pack with full instructions of beaches, eateries, directions to the airport etc. Really family orientated location but you need a car. Would return anyday!!!
This was our fourth year at Quinta Luzia and yet again we have had a fabulous time.
It really is a lovely property , both inside and out, and always lives up to our expectations. Our small boys used to love just messing around in the pool and 4 years on as teenagers they still love messing in the pool ! This property really does suit all age groups.
Everything is spotless, well maintained and well equipped with every mod-con. It is not just decked out as a rental property but obviously treasured by its owners. I always think its a good sign when the owners and their families holiday there too.
You really will get a taste of rural Portugal in Pechao but should you feel the need to venture to the tourist spots, they are only a short drive.
We love just rambling through the cobbled streets of Olhao with its distintinctively un tourist atmosphere and ferry trips to both Armona and Ferol Islands are always on our agenda.
Freshly caught fish and a chilled glass of Vinho Verde !
Can't wait to go again ..........................................
Quinta Luzia is situated in the countryside between Olhao and the village of Pechao. The village is 1km away with shops, bank, pharmacy etc. Despite being in the countryside we are very fortunate to have 2 fabulous Portuguese restaurants serving a variety of traditional Portuguese recipes and of course fresh fish daily,in walking distance. The nearest of these is the famous 'O Lagar' renowned for the quality of its food. If you prefer just a snack, you can find 2 bars within a few hundred yards. The coast at Olhao is only 3km. This is a Portuguese fishing town with daily fish markets, meat, fruit and veg. There is a more extensive market on a Saturday with clothes etc. From Olhao pier you can take a small passenger ferry just 15mins ride across to the idyllic islands of Armona and Farol with quaint restaurants and miles of deserted beaches.
