Comfort and relaxation, close to beach and countryside, villa sleeps 4.

Ideally situated in Crete's Apokoronas region, considered by many to be the island's most beautiful, Villa Sinefo Ennea has an elevated position with stunning sea views from both ground and first floor. It stands in its own private walled garden within a small select development at the edge of popular Plaka Village.

Villa Sinefo Ennea is licensed by the Greek Tourism Authority (EOT), licence number 10 42 K 12 3K 03379 0 0. This means that you have the assurance that the house is rented legally and meets stringent standards. These relate to facilities offered, hygiene and safety and cover fire precautions, environmental inspections and swimming pool safety and maintenance.

Our villa is furnished in a contemporary, modern style. It is well equipped and maintained to a high standard to welcome our guests to our clean and comfortable 'home from home'.

The light and airy house accommodates four very comfortably. We do, however, offer a discount of £50/week for bookings of one couple who stay during early, mid and late seasons.

The lounge/kitchen and both bedrooms are air conditioned and hot water is provided by means of solar power, backed up by electricity. For cooler weather, oil filled radiators are available.

The open plan lounge/kitchen/dining area has an L shaped sofabed, leather chair and coffee table with front facing french doors that have views over Plaka village and the sea beyond. .

Guests have the use of a wall mounted CD/mp3 player, flat screen led tv with satellite and dvd player. A selection of cds and dvds are provided, or you may wish to bring your own favourites.

The house has hard wired fast speed wi-fi and a phone that can be used for local calls and in emergencies.

The well appointed modern kitchen has been thoughtfully equipped for a comfortable stay, with a full cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, kettle, coffee maker, toaster, juicer, ironing facilities, table and chairs and not forgetting the vital wine glasses and bottle opener!

Completing the ground floor is a shower room with walk in shower, basin with cabinet above and wc.

The marble staircase leads to the first floor and has a wall mounted bookshelf with books ranging from fiction to guidebooks and local walks.

The first floor has two bedrooms that share a balcony with pergola and stunning sea views.

Bedroom 1 has a double bed, wardrobe safe, wall mounted lcd tv /dvd to play dvd's only, wall mounted hair dryer, ceiling fan..

Bedroom 2 has twin beds, wall mounted lcd TV and DVD player to play DVD's only, wall mounted hair dryer, ceiling fan.

Both bedrooms have air conditioning, fitted wardrobes, bedside cabinets and mirrors, with duvets for the cooler months.

The first floor spacious bathroom has bath/shower over, basin with cabinet above, wc and washing machine.

The covered verandah has a table and chairs for alfresco meals, or there is a smaller table and chairs under the pergola for relaxing with coffee or snacks.

Our private garden that surrounds the house is on two levels, with stone walls and gates. A wide variety of plants, including bougainvillea, palms, fruit trees, bamboos, olive and cacti, are well established. Guests can use sunbeds and deckchairs to sunbathe or sit in the shade, enjoying uninterrupted sea views. During the summer's hottest months, the Meltemi wind, blowing gently from the North, gives welcome respite from soaring temperatures, keeping the garden airy and comfortable.

The 40 square metre swimming pool (8m by 5m), that is shared with four other houses, has been newly refurbished for 2016 with good quality Italian tiles. It is situated a few steps to the rear of the house.

Our wall rack holds a wealth of information on excursions and things to do, as well as a set of books describing local walks to suit all ages and fitness levels. We are happy to provide any additional information on the house or local area on request.

The villa is located on the edge of the traditional village of Plaka, with views of Souda Bay and Akrotiri peninsula to the front and set against a backdrop of the spectacular White Mountains to the rear. The village square, with its excellent tavernas, bars, cafes and minimarket, is reached in five minutes' downhill walk through the pretty old village.

A particular feature of our villa is that it benefits from an open front aspect with views over Plaka village to Souda Bay that can be enjoyed from both ground and first floor levels.

Almyrida's sheltered, sandy beach can be reached in 15 minutes downhill stroll, or 5 minutes by car. Its Blue Flag beach and warm, shallow sea, make it ideal for families. Here you will find a wider selection of beachside tavernas and cafes, bakeries, butcher, minimarkets, pharmacy, cash machine, gift shops and car hire. There is a PADI dive centre, paddleboarding and windsurfing, and boat trips provide an opportunity for snorkelling.

Facilities in local villages include Kalives (a bank, local shops, supermarket and tavernas); Gavalochori (traditional museum) and Vamos (health centre).

The island's old capital, Chania, a 30 minute drive, has a beautiful Venetian harbour with a maze of captivating backstreets. An evening visit to take in the atmosphere is not to be missed.

The fascinating ancient site of Aptera, 20 minutes' drive, has ruins that cover the whole spectrum of Cretan history, from Mycenean to World War II and everything in between. Situated strategically overlooking Souda Bay, with stunning views both of the White Mountains and the coast, and still being excavated, it is unmissable for anyone interested in the history of Crete.

Crete is served by two international airports, at Chania and Heraklion, with direct flights from the UK from early April to early November (Easyjet and Ryanair) and year round flights via Athens (Aegean Airlines). Chania airport is the more convenient, at 23 km. Alternatively Heraklion, at 130 km, is an easy and picturesque drive (less than 2 hours) along the North coast.

The port of Souda (15 km) provides a daily ferry link to the Greek mainland via Piraeus.

We provide easy to follow, comprehensive directions from all points of arrival.

While car hire is not essential, if you wish to enjoy all that the area has to offer we would recommend hiring a car. We can provide information on reliable and well priced local car hire companies.

Lovely villa in great location

The first thing that struck us on arrival were the amazing views across Souda bay from the garden, terrace and bedroom balcony.

The nearest international airport is Chania and the directions from there to the villa were very thorough and we found it with no problems. I would say you would struggle to stay in this location without a hire car, although taxi are available locally I cant say that I saw any buses around Plaka or Almerida.

The villa is one of the cleanest and most well equipped I have ever stayed in. Everything we needed was there, and it was also helpful to have the welcome food pack. the bed was very comfortable and the aircon was welcome on a few nights when it got unbearably hot. Excellent shower and having two bathrooms was handy. Despite the pool being shared with a few neighbours we always had it to ourselves and it is very clean.

The nearest small supermarket is a few minutes by car or a 10 minute walk downhill, we often passed it on our way back from a day out and picked up supplies then.

A short walk down the hill brings you to Plaka village which has a good selection of tavernas, which all serve similar fare and all very friendly and welcoming. A couple of nights we walked down to the nearest beach in Almerida (walking took about 20-30 minutes, taxi back was 5-7 Euros, driving would only take 5-10 minutes) and had some lovely meals there right on the seafront with the sea lapping next to us. There are many bars, taverna and restaurants in Almerida, and a few shops and small supermarkets. In the day time this beach has plenty of loungers and some have table service! The beach is sandy and the sea is lovely and warm and very shallow for a long way out.

Great family holiday

We've never been to Crete before so we didn't know what to expect, needless to say we weren't disappointed. The villa was great, modern and clean with good views out to the sea. It was a real home from home with everything that you could possibly need already provided. We found the owner was very helpful and very responsive to any last minute questions we had.

The pool was a great addition when you felt too lazy to make it to the beach. Although it is shared with four other villas it never felt busy and our teenagers enjoyed making friends with the other teenage guests. The location is quiet on the edge of Plaka, so a rental car should be a serious consideration.

The local beaches are all lovely, Kalami was a favourite, the spring fed freezing cold stream was a welcome cooling off spot. So by the end of the holiday we never felt the need to travel very far in search of the 'perfect beach'.

There are plenty of things to do in Crete; Chania isn't very far away and very beautiful; Samaria Gorge for the fit; 3 hour cruise and snorkelling trip and for mindless entertainment the Water City Park is great.

Although we went in August no where in Crete felt too busy or crowded, perfect for a relaxing time. We can't recommend this villa highly enough!

Greek sanctuary overlooking the sea

Another lovely relaxing holiday here with long sunny days either spent around the villa and pool or taking the short drive to the beach at Almyridia with its turquoise sea and sandy beach where you can have an ice cold beer served to your sun bed!

No sign of any Greek debt crisis, it was business as usual, and with getting a good exchange rate made food and drink very reasonable.

The villa has everything you need and more, we enjoyed cooking there some evenings using fresh local produce whilst still enjoying the sea view from the kitchen window cutting onions, all washed down with some good local wine!! At the villa, being high up, you can always find a shady spot to sit and enjoy the sea breezes and admire the tropical plants from either the terrace or first floor balcony.

There are several restaurants in Plaka all serving good food, but we also ventured a bit further to Vamos, a little village near by and enjoyed a great Cretan night with good food and greek dancing, another afternoon we enjoyed a Cretan cookery class workshop in an old olive press ruin, very authentic! Another good find in Vamos was a good old fashioned English butcher shop, Yorkshire sausages on the BBQ! We also made the trip to Chania with its venetian harbour and great shops.

All in all it was another fabulous holiday, booking again for next year!

Modern house with shared pool and great views

The house is modern and well built with great views from the garden and balconies. There is a nice, decent-sized shared pool (5 houses).

The property is in good condition and was very clean and well maintained. The ground floor living space - open plan kitchen and lounge - is fine for 4 people (but not generous). There are balconies off both bedrooms with fine views over the sea and plenty of outside space with a reasonable terrace and shingle gardens to front and rear. The bedrooms are not large but adequate and the kitchen is well appointed. The development of 7 houses is well-planned and fairly private, about a 15 minute walk to a very nice, small village with 6 or 7 excellent restaurants/tavernas for all budgets. There is a decent mini-market about 10 minutes walk away and another small shop in the village. There are several popular beaches within approx. 20 minutes drive and a nice, pebble cove about 10 minutes away by car. Chania is close and is a fantastic town to stay in or visit.

Overall, we were very happy with the house and its location. The directions from the owner were very good and we had no problems with anything. It would be nice to have a few more local products in the house to make it feel more Cretan - the plates, cups etc all came from Tesco or Ikea. The lounge is not large but most time is likely to be spent outside so this is not an issue. The property is modern and attractive but does lack a little bit of 'character'. We would happily recommend it or visit again.

Beautiful villa in a stunning spot.

We had the most wonderful holiday staying in this lovely villa which was immaculately presented and very well equipped. Nothing had been overlooked. The setting was stunning with amazing views of the Bay from most rooms and the complex itself was beautifully landscaped and well kept. The pool was an absolute treat and a real hit with both children & adults. I would highly recommend this villa and happily return again.

Villa Sinefo Ennea is situated in Crete's Apokoronas region, considered by many to be the island's most beautiful.

The villa is located on the edge of the traditional village of Plaka with views of Souda Bay and the Akrotiri peninsula. The village square, with its excellent tavernas, bar, cafes and mini market be reached on foot in five minutes. The seaside village of Almirida and its blue flag sandy, gently shelving beach is a further 15 minutes downhill or 5 minutes by car. Here you will find beachside tavernas, bakeries, mini markets, gift shops, sailing/windsurfing, car hire, internet cafe.

Local villages are Kalives (bank), Gavalochori, Vamos (health centre), Drapanos and Kokkino Chorio.
