Recently renovated to a very high specification throughout and featuring the most superb and unbelievably large open plan kitchen with dining and living area Driftwood Cottage offers generous living accommodation at over 1,800 sq ft (170 sq m).

The front of the property is off set from the road with space for 1 car and there is ample parking on the quiet street adjacent to the house.

Lovely house in a perfect area

Spacious boutique house which is stylishly decorated. It was absolutely ideal for our weekend away with 3 other couples to celebrate a birthday. Stones throw from the harbour and half of our group went fishing from the pier each day. Huge kitchen/dining area with everything you could possible need for cooking. Lovely comfortable beds and linens. One main parking space right next to the house and we had no problem at all finding additional parking on streets close by. There is an enclosed private garden to the side of the house with a BBQ, table and chairs for 8 which we didn't use but I imagine it would get good mid-day sun. Would not hesitate to book again in the future.

Spacious, stylish house in excellent location with minor niggles

The house is easily accessed by keypad which makes it easy for all members of the party to come and go as they please with no worries about who has the key. The house is spacious and well equipped. The beds were wide and comfy, the bedlinen and towels were nice and the hot water plentiful and there were toiletries provided. When we entered the house the heating was on full blast so we had to spend some time grappling with the instructions and closing all the radiator valves to render the temperature tolerable. The downstairs toilet seat was loose and although we reported this to the housekeeper no action was taken during our stay. Whoever does the cleaning must have been aware of this before our arrival. Likewise the kitchen mixer tap was completely loose and several of the window blinds were broken and inoperable. The windows were very difficult to open. I would suggest provision of a washing up bowl and some washing up liquid for little bits of washing up not meriting a full dishwasher worth. I would say that less is more in terms of the artwork in the house - we moved a sculpture from the side of my daughter's bed because it was "scary" and each and every one of us hit our heads on the candelabra above the dining table until we removed it. In conclusion, some minor repairs required to merit the accolade of "luxury" hence not 5*.

Amazing location, and a lovely secret courtyard

Large property, we never really used the sitting room as the kitchen/diner with couches was a fantastic space where everyone could gather.

All bedrooms are a good size, and have everything you need, though Windows difficult to keep open.

Large fridge/freezer off the kitchen was an added bonus.

Lovely smokehouse restaurant on the harbour, and great location for walking one way to Elie, and to Pittenweem, Anstruther and Crail in the other direction.

A welcome pack of bread, butter and Jam was delivered, after we arrived.

Great holiday cottage

A great holiday cottage. We spent a long weekend here to celebrate my dad's birthday. The cottage is huge and well laid out. The kitchen and dining area downstairs is lovely and a great place to cook and eat together as a family. The kitchen is well equipped and has everything you need if you want to self cater. Couldn't recommend enough and if we visit St Monan's again we will definitely stay here!

The cottage was spacious and ideal for our party of seven

Overall we really enjoyed our stay. There was ample room for us all. The kitchen space in particular was ideal fie socialising and entertaining. The quality of the fittings and utensils was good. The village is quiet but that suited us fine....very easy to get out and about to nearby places. Our only minor gripe was that the cottage probably needs to a good spruce up but this may be down to it being the end of season. Would definitely stay again though

Great space!

A group of 8, 6 adults and 2 teenagers stayed at Driftwood cottage for a 3 night stay and had a great time. The cottage has amazing space for a group of 8, loved the kitchen living area, it reminded us of a trendy bar. Kitchen very well equipped and liked the small touch of fresh bread and milk on arrival. Rooms were of good size, beds and pillows very comfortable. Would have been nice to have a shower in the down stairs toilet and a toilet in the upstairs en-suite but this is just nit picking it was not a big issue. We did not use the garden and BBQ area because of the time of year but this would be great in the summer. Had fantastic fish and chips from a chip van that was recommended, situated beside the May View hotel. Shop just at the top of the road for any groceries, very handy. Will definitely return if in the area again. The Secret Bunker is well worth a visit, very interesting. I have given it 4 stars because of shower and toilet, otherwise a definite 5.
