My wife and I are Realtors in the Charlotte area. We love the mountains and getting away. Often we leave Charlotte and head to the mountains. We are always amazed at the sights and drop of temperature in a two and a half hour drive.
Clif Ridenhour purchased this chalet in 2004
We chose this area for snow skiing and the beautiful sites that the High Country offers. There are several ski resorts close by and the largest one in NC is across the street 'Sugar Mountain'. Grand Father Mountain is less than a 10 minute drive and it has unbelievable views. Grand Father Mountain also has a mile high swinging bridge and wildlife habitats to include bears, deer, and all kinds of other animals.
Location, Location, Location it is here. Across the street from Sugar Mountain. 5 Minute drive to downtown Banner Elk. 10 Minute drive to Grand Father Mountain and several other hiking trails and water falls in the nearby area.
My favorite restaurant in Banner Elk is Sorrento's which is downtown. After a wonderful meal, I love the hot tub on a cold night. Listening to the sound of the blowing of snow on Sugar Mountain and soaking in the hot tub is very relaxing.
Loved it and minutes away from Sugar Mountain... i would stay here again for sure!!
Great, awesome place to stay at the base of the ski slopes. The hot tub was amazing! Clean, convenient, and private.
Ready to go back!
What you can't beat is the location! You are 3 minutes from the base of Sugar for skiing or snowboarding. It's not the Hilton, but when you are on the hill most of the day do you really need the Hilton? The whole condo development is showing signs of age, but it's not completely worn down or anything. The unit doesn't have many frills but and could use some updating and touchups, but in no way is it dirty or run down. I'm sure there will be updates along the way and that will be nice. I don't say this to bring down the value of the stay, it just helps to have good and accurate reviews. Still 4 stars and we would definitely go back. Jut don't expect everything to be sparkling and brand new. It's a great little place. The fire is awesome in the evenings. Bed is comfortable. Hot tub is great. Not much to complain about. It's a strong 4 stars and one we will likely return to.
My fiancé' and I were looking for a weekend getaway and scouting out some possible ski lodging for this upcoming season. The search is over!! This chalet has everything you need, is comfortable ,and has that homey feel. Its centrally located to Boone, Blowing Rock and Linville Falls, not to mention its located at the base of Sugar Mountain. Great views and also close to grocery and restaurants. Definitely will be back soon
This chalet was perfect for a quiet mountain weekend with easy access to Boone and hiking. The fireplace and hot tub are the perfect addition to an already lovely space. Cannot wait to come back.
