About Dennis and Maureen Jackson
We are semi-retired empty-nesters originally from Connecticut USA. We travel as much as we can, and reserve Villa Rosegarden for ourselves for much of the Winter. It's so beautiful here! We love it so much and miss it when we're away, so we visit frequently, and are also happy to be able to share it with guests the rest of the year.
Dennis and Maureen Jackson purchased this Villa in 2011
Why Dennis and Maureen Jackson chose Pelican
Cape Coral is uncongested compared to other Gulf Coast towns because it is almost entirely residential but never fully occupied. It was also ranked as Florida's #1 retirement community in 2015 by Bankrate magazine. The beautiful setting of Villa Rosegarden is peaceful and relaxing, with all main rooms open to the water. Enjoy the open flow with double and triple-wide sliding glass doors from every room to the screened-in pool and lanai by the water. The private deck out over the canal with tiki hut and round table accommodates both activity and relaxation. The neighborhood is close to everything but there are no through streets so it is quiet and peaceful. Villa Rosegarden is ideal for families, couples, and friends. It is comfortable for 2, 4, or 6 people (or even 8 if you use the pullouts.)
What makes this Villa unique
There are many properties available in Cape Coral, but few that are affordable in a location like this in the peaceful, upscale, and sought-after Rose Garden District. One of our early guests may have said it best: 'We have been coming down to Cape Coral for 8 years and while we have enjoyed every year, we think this is the best yet!'

Wonderful vacation in Cape Coral!
We had a wonderful time on our family vacation. The home and the views are beautiful! Home is spacious and bathrooms are beautifully updated. The house was clean and had everything we needed. Kitchen is well stocked with plenty of cutlery, dishes, and cookware. We spent most of our time out back enjoying the pool and my husband and I had great success fishing off the dock. We were even lucky enough to see a dolphin on our first day! It was an amazing vacation and we were sad to leave. Can't wait to come back soon!!
Better than expectations!
House was 1st Class!
Everything you needed was available and the house and grounds was clean and picture perfect!
Disappointed with VRBO and Owner
To be fair, the house was very nice, and all eight of us enjoyed it, especially the pool and location. What I'm disappointed with is the fact that VRBO and the Owner did not warn or tell me of the RED TIDE epidemic that had been going on, even back in April when I booked the property. Because of this, we could spend no time at any of the beaches in the area. If I had been aware of the RED TIDE, I would not have booked a Florida Gulf Coast vacation. Also, the owner forgot when we were leaving, and locked us out of the property before we left. Had to make several frantic calls to get into the residence again.
Thanks to these guests for the nice comments about the house itself! We can't blame them being disappointed about the red tide closing many area beaches. It's been a real problem. However, we think it's unfair to place blame with either VRBO or the property owners.
When they booked the rental in April, the beaches were fine and there was nothing unusual about area waters. The issues arose due to subsequent heavy rains in the Everglades. They e-mailed to ask about water and beach conditions some time before coming, and we told them what we learned online. Our neighbors also told us our canal was normal, and they had just seen dolphins and fish jumping. We told them which local beaches were closed, and about a beautiful beach that was quite unaffected and still open. We also provided references where they could keep up to date on area water conditions.
We can't speak for all of the Florida Gulf Coast, but if they hadn't wanted to come, even last minute, we might have worked together to get VRBO to cancel their reservation. However, they never mentioned it or asked.
The accidental lockout was not due to "forgetting, " but it was our mistake in getting the departure date wrong. We fixed it as soon as we and our manager heard, with profound apologies! Even so, that must have added to their' frustration, and we're sorry for that. Read more reviews below to gain a better perspective.
Quiet, Comfortable and Relaxing
We had a very nice stay in this home. Morning coffee on the dock and spent many hours each day in the heated pool. Comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen. Very quiet and pretty part of town. Plenty of places to walk. Close to everything you would need in the way of shopping but well located away from any noise or traffic with lovely views of the canal and surrounding properties. Beautiful, mature and well lighted landscaping. Nice neighbors too. Neighborhood feels extremely safe. Owners were very responsive, easy to work with. A good value overall and a very good experience.
Amazing views.... Great price!!!
The place was perfect for what we needed! Great views of the canal very peaceful and relaxing. The house was great,
Had all of the amenities we needed, nothing too fancy but everything worked great for us! Would definitely recommend!
Well laid out, stocked with everything we needed, clean and comfortable.
Very nice property. Clean and spacious. The big deck and tiki hut on the canel was very nice. Unfortunately we hit an unusually cold week. The owner went above and beyond and bought a pool blanket to try to warm up the pool for our grandkids to swim. The pool table/air hockey table was a hit. We had a problem with the refrigerator and it was taken care of within the day. Also proximity to restaurants and grocery was perfect.
Cape Coral is a relaxed resort and residential community. It is geographically large and spread out with plenty of recreational and cultural opportunities, dining, and shopping. Cape Coral is adjacent to Fort Myers and Fort Myers Beach, close to Miramar Outlets, and an easy drive to Naples or Sarasota. Our historic Rose Garden neighborhood is close to downtown but off the beaten track with no through traffic. Our local streets are great for walking and biking (bikes provided.) Nearby Rotary Park is an easy stroll with fountains, an exercise trail, playground, butterfly house, and nature museum with trails through the mangroves. SunSplash Family Water Park is a great place to take the kids!
