About the property

Nothing compares to a beautiful summer or fall day on a gorgeous Maine lake.

Welcome to "Cliffside." Perched on a beautiful spot looking west over Great Moose Lake, enjoy spectacular sunsets, swimming, great fishing, and family fun in this well appointed 2,400 sq. ft. home. Cliffside features three bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, and is thoughtfully designed for entertaining both adults and young ones alike. All three levels feature their own bedroom and bathroom, sleeping two on the second floor, two on the first, and four on the ground floor.

The main floor features a full kitchen with dining and sitting area with a walk out deck for grilling and enjoying the lake view. A massive two story propane fireplace overlooks the cathedral ceiling great room. The second story has a bedroom with half bath and a balcony overlooking the lake and the main floor. The bottom floor "game room" is fully equipped for fun, including a ping pong table and an old fashioned Popcorn Machine to enjoy movie nights on the large screen TV. A selection of movies are available for you or you can sign in to your Netflix account. A large selection of board games are also available and for the adults, darts.

**Please select Videos (beside photos) to see a better views of the property and the lake** A field stone and granite patio lead to a staircase which brings you to the lake. A new dock was installed in June of 2017. The water is crystal clear and the lake bottom is firm gravel and stone, perfect for swimming. For the little ones, an easy zero grade walk in from the small beach makes exploring easy. Please note the staircase to the lake would not be recommended for young children unsupervised or for people with mobility limitations.

Spend your days swimming, kayaking, fishing, and playing in the beautiful water of Great Moose Lake. Frequent loon sightings, gorgeous sunsets and tranquil views are a part of the experience at "Cliffside". On a clear night the star gazing is spectacular from the deck or lawn.

Nearby Hartland features a grocery store and restaurant, along with a hardware store. Only 20 minutes away, Newport has a Walmart, Pizza Hut, Dunkin' Donuts, along with many other stores. Palmyra Golf Course is only 10 minutes from the house. Bangor is about 50 minutes. The iconic Acadia National Park, located on the beautiful Mount Desert Island and home to Cadillac Mountain is approximately a 1 hour and 45 minute drive from the property. Given the size of the park you can easily hit many of its best destinations inside of a days journey. Bar Harbor, the bustling town on Mount Desert Island is a great location for shopping, dining and embarking on a number of sea faring excursions.

In the winter enjoy nearby snowmobile trails, snow shoeing and cross country skiing. There is also at least one or two ice fishing derbies each season. If downhill skiing is your preference, New England's premier skiing resort at Sugarloaf USA is only 60 miles away. Smaller ski resorts are closer.

We recently acquired this home and will continue to add updated photos highlighting the beautiful outdoor aspects of this property.

Suitability: Long-term Renters Welcome, children welcome, non-smoking only, pets not allowed, wheelchair inaccessible.

Why Scott Ismail chose Saint Albans

Thanks for looking at our property at Cliffside. In Maine many families have a "camp" which they grew up with as a focal point for family gatherings and summer fun on the water. My wife and I wanted to give our family the same gift and memories. We spent many years travelling the state, renting different properties and exploring new lakes until we finally discovered Great Moose Lake, and the property at Cliffside. Growing up only 45 minutes away, we were frankly surprised to find this hidden gem among busier and more well known lakes in the state. The property itself is a terrific place to relax, unwind, and have fun with plenty of space for adults and kids alike. We hope you decide to give Cliffside a visit and know that we won't be far away if there's anything you need during your stay.

Welcoming, warm, and very neat! You'll forget to unpack the truck after walking in the front door!

  • 5 of 5

Found this diamond and knew it would be the perfect spot to take my wife, 3 kids (10, 5, 3) and my mother on vacation! So we drove from Southern Georgia and felt like we had arrived 'home' when we walked in the door!! It was very welcoming, neat, and perfectly decorated!

The lake will call to you, so forget about unpacking the truck just go down and enjoy the picture perfect view, the clear water, and fresh air! My kids and I lived on that dock, fishing, swimming, kayaking, skipping rocks, catching crawdads, stacking rocks, watching the sun set, and listening to the loons, just to name a bit. My oldest boy mastered the kayak, except for barrel rolls, in one week- hard to do in the gator filled rivers and swamps where we live...but now we can kayak together and that is priceless! My daughter patented her skipping with the endless smooth pebbles, and both her and my youngest son loved riding in the kayak with me. Everyone caught fish, lots of them!

The kids loved their whale bedroom, searching for chipmunks outside in the yard, and all had a blast trying to beat me in ping pong. I also got the opportunity to teach my son how to really play poker (5 card and Texas), and he learned that grandma has no mercy for the weak when poker chips are on the table!

Whatever you do, do not use the hammock. You will fall asleep staring at the lake...and then waking up thinking you have found the meaning of life - your family will notice your new outlook on life!

We visited bangor during an inclimate day and they have an awesome children's (hands-on) museum- they wont want to leave. We also took a gorgeous day to visit Acadia Natl. Park and Bar Harbor, which was amazing-worth 10x the 1.5 hour drive!

But back to the cabin- home cooked meals made easy with me on the deck grill and my wife and mom in the fully functional kitchen- laughing and gathering round the dinner table beats rollercoaster lines any day of the week!

The owners are literally on top of any concern, issue or question should you run into one, which I highly doubt given the state of the property- unless its a one in a million problem. We experienced that with a water pump going out, and they had it serviced, fixed and replaced immediately, without any interference to the vacation.

Whether you want to enjoy the lake with the family, relax infront of the fire (inside or outside) with your significant, or just find peace and serenity- this place WILL give you memories, and that makes it priceless!

Owner's Response: Quentin- Thanks so much for your understanding and patience as we had that crazy event with the failed water pump. You guys were an absolute joy to have at our lake house and we'd love to have you visit again any time in the future....I may need to stop by when you are there to have you show me how to catch more fish and especially catch crawdads! My daughter will want to try that herself! - Scott

We relied on reviews and pics for this reservation and we were thrilled! The property is even more beautiful in person. The owners placed a tremendous amount of thought and detail into decorating their home. The result is gorgeous welcoming setting with tons of character without being overdone. The space is clean, open and airy and the game/movie room is a wonderful plus. We didn’t leave the property the entire time except to purchase some fishing worms. We loved making smores in the fire pit, our kids loved the safe pebbly beach and we loved fishing off the dock and caught a ton of large white perch and two very large bass and a lake trout! Scott answered all of our questions and is extremely responsive and helpful. They even left us welcome popcorn and their binder has lots of ideas in the event that you do want to venture anywhere. This is a wonderful property and he type of place you will want to return to. Thank you for welcoming us to your home!

Wonderful holiday escape!

  • 5 of 5

Cliffside was a wonderful place to cozy up during our recent cold snap. It provided everything we needed for three generations of family fun. Between the epic ping pong battles and endless supply of board games by the fire, it was the perfect place to be snowed in, with old and young teaming up and enjoying each other's company.

Scott was gracious and helpful, answering all of my questions promptly. The house was beautiful and views of the frozen lake were spectacular. It was great to have a heated garage to park the cars in the frigid temperatures. I recommend all wheel drive on the back roads leading to the lake as they are not treated.

We look forward to returning in warm weather to enjoy all of the other facets of Cliffside. Thank you for a memorable stay and we wish you all the best in the new year!

Absolutely Beautiful

  • 5 of 5

Hi Scott,

Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with my friends and I. It was everything we needed and more to enjoy the Maine woods for a week in November. Everything was functional and we did not run into any issues. The ping pong table was an added bonus where we spent the majority of our evenings engaged in epic pong battles. Thanks again and looking forward to next deer season already.

Beautiful house in a tranquil setting

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time spending Thanksgiving at Cliffside! The weather was cold but the house was so cozy with the fireplace. We had so much fun playing ping pong, watching movies, cooking and relaxing. The house had everything we needed.

It would be great to return in the warmer months to enjoy the beautiful lake.

We would definitely recommend this beautiful house to our friends and family.

The Perfect Getaway, the Perfect Place.

  • 5 of 5

First of all I should say that the communication with Scott the owner was excellent and he went out of his way to make sure we had all the information we needed to make this the perfect stay.

The home is clean, comfortable and VERY WELL Stocked for cooking and entertainment... The kitchen has as much if not more than we have at home! And it is a beautiful kitchen as well as functional.

Loved all the personal details and will stay here again... I never made it down to the water because it was November... and not sure with the stairs I would do that to many times anyway. But just to have coffee on the deck in the morning or glass of wine in the evening... I’ll be back for the view!
