The owner of your apartment is Irish. Victoire (Vicky) has French ancestry, but was born in Dublin, Ireland and chose to buy in Cannes to connect with her French roots. Below, Vicky explains why she chose Villa Romance and what she loves most about Cannes.

Why Annalisa Lombardi chose Riou - Petit Juas - Av de Grasse

The apartment in Villa Romance had that certain 'je ne sais quoi' and when I saw it, I just knew immediately that it was the perfect place for me in France. I'm hopeless at switching to driving on the other side of the road (we drive on the left in Ireland), so the location of Villa Romance was perfect for me. It meant that I wouldn't need a car and could easily walk to shops, restaurants and along the beach-front whenever I felt like it, but could also avail of the pool at the apartment when I felt like staying home and chilling out.

My favourite restaurants in Cannes are along the Rue Meynadier. I also love 'Le Salon Des Independants' which is at the very top of the hill in the old town 'Le Suquet'. Even though it looks like it's miles up in the air and has a fantastic view down over the bay of Cannes, it's actually amazingly quick to walk up there and the food is well worth it. For lunchtime, my all-time favourite place to go is the Breton pancake cafe on Rue Bivouac Napoleon (Just to your right at the end of Rue Louis Blanc).

If you do have a car, the secure garage is a real bonus, but I love the fact that the apartment is also close to the train station and to buses so the whole of the Riviera can be accessed on day tours. It's fun to spend the day sight-seeing in St. Tropez, then come home in the evening in time to eat in one of your local Cannes restaurants. Be sure to check out Monaco, Grasse and Antibes while you are here. Oh, and if you feel like really getting away from it all for the day - pack a picnic and wander down to the port where you can hop on the 15 minute ferry-ride and escape to the 'Lerins Islands' for a few hours.

I'm sure I don't have to tell you why Cannes is special - you'll find that out yourself very soon. Have a really great holiday and thanks again for choosing Villa Romance. I know you'll love it as much as I do.

Well situated to explore Cannes. Annalisa very accommodating because we arrived early and wanted to leave early hours of morning. Pool is small but is ok. Highly recommended

Super Family holiday and excellent value

My wife and I and our two children (3 and 7) booked this apartment for a holiday in Cannes. It was the week before the film festival so there was a great buzz in the town. The kids loved the pool and visiting the beach. We ate out most lunchtimes and can recommend Steak ‘n Shake on Place General De Gaulle and the Creperie on Felix Faure for families on a budget – both under a tenner and delicious. The apartment was spacious and the kitchen had everything we needed for making evening meals at home. We loved the fact that it was on the ground floor, easy access for pushchair, and the kids could go in and out freely within the fenced-in area. Super relaxed and easy holiday. We will definitely go back.

Thanks also for the suggestions for restaurants that future families might enjoy while staying at Villa Romance. Other families with small kids have recommended having take-out from the Pizza place on the corner on stay-in nights; as well as visiting Il Convivio for a special treat-night out. It has a varied and delicious menu and it's also child-friendly. And if you have a baby-sitter some evening, then my recommendation for a special night out for the adults is my own favourite in Cannes - Le Salon Des Independents on Rue Louis Perrisol, but it's best to book ahead for that one because it books up fast during high season. Excellent location in a fabulous and very spacious apartment

We travelled as a group of 4 adults, parents and two early 20's sons during July 2017 staying for 7 days. All arrangements were excellent and although our flight was delayed and we did not arrive at the apartment until after midnight we were duly met by the owners representative having updated them of our progress, taken through all the necessary explanation and guidance on the use of the apartment - a really excellent experience. The apartment is much more spacious than you may think in the images with both bedrooms providing plenty space and storage (both with Air conditioning).

The kitchen is fully fitted with everything you need if you wish to cater for yourselves however we only used it for breakfast and the occasional lunch. The lounge and dinning area is huge in comparison to some apartments as well as being open to the outdoor seating area where the sun is from first thing in the morning until around mid-afternoon as is the garden area (artificial grass). The outdoor area is not very large but sufficient for up to 4 people to lounge out on without any issue. The patio area provides some shade and again has plenty of room for 6 or more.

The WiFi is fast and reliable although coverage around the apartment is only really good in the hall, lounge and kitchen area. Satellite Sky TV (Irish setup) is limited but Sky News (English) and numerous music channels available.

The underground secure car parking is ideal as it also ensures the car is cool when setting off on a journey and there are not many alternative parking places in the area. It is only around 15 minute walk to Cannes Old port, Castle, etc. and all the excellent restaurants in the area. There is a bakers, small supermarket, etc. only 5 minutes walk up the hill which is great for breakfast options.

The pool is an adequate size to relax and swim but not for someone wanting to swim any distance. The main pool does slope quickly down to 2m deep and whilst we were there it was very quiet. The children / paddle pool is equally nice to just relax and cool off in.

Departure - again met by the owners representative at the agreed time and handed back keys, inspection , etc, really friendly and very efficient and always helpful.

All in all it was an excellent location for both Cannes and touring around the area (Nice, Grasse, Monaco, etc.) and I would thoroughly recommend this property and would consider booking again if we wanted to stay in the same area.

Good sized, well equipped apartment

Good sized, well equipped apartment. Doubled bedroom has ensuite shower room and toilet. Bathroom is next door to the twin bedroom. Separate second toilet.

Communal pool is the one shown in the photo with the white railing behind, not very big. Smaller shallow pool next to it, ideal for paddling. There are some raised flower beds, but not sure we'd stretch to calling them communal gardens. Wouldn't have affected our decision to book this apartment, but worth mentioning.

We had excellent service from the property manager, Annalisa, and her sister Michaela. They arranged for us to have access to the apartment early, which was really helpful as we have a 5 year old who was desperate to get to the beach!

The air con in the twin room wasn't working on our first night, and although we emailed on a Sunday, Annalisa replied within an hour, and arranged for it to be fixed (completely new unit) on the Monday. She can also arrange airport taxi transfers at very reasonable prices for Cannes.

The apartment is in a very quite location, in a culdesac - no traffic noise. Took us a bit longer than 8 minutes to get to the sea front, but then we had a young child with us. The apartment is up a few hills, which helped us to burn off the ice creams!

Lovely clean apartment with everything you need for a wonderful Holiday. Small pool in quiet surroundings where you feel welcome. Private parking and 8 min walk to the center of Cannes. Great communication with the administrator and owner. We would love to come back.
