About Francis Rode
I grew up in Orange County, California the eldest of eight children. I attended BYU and continue to be a big fan. We currently have a place in two of our favorite places on earth, Newport Beach, CA, and Alpine, UT which is our main home after our children grew up. We have 12 grandchildren from our 7 children so far... hoping to get more if we can get our single adult children married. We enjoy traveling, are very conservative politically, and love America.
Francis Rode purchased this House in 2001
Why Francis Rode chose American Fork
We fell in love with this home because of the yard. The year round stream and the huge walnut tree just spoke to me. At the time, the property was surrounded by horse pastures with very few homes. It has since developed quite a bit, including many of my favorite stores and restaurants close by. The home was built as the main farm house that owned all of the surrounding properties on which the neighboring houses now stand. My first child was born in American Fork, my ancestors helped to settle this quaint town, and it felt like coming home.
What makes this House unique
When we moved in, the back yard was mostly horse pasture. I took it as a challenge to work on the place a little each year to preserve the property and house for my children's inheritances. The natural year round stream was actually hidden by tall weeds. This has been a work of love for many years. My favorite thing to do is wander the paths and stop for a swing under the wisteria covered dome. Occasionally we will see a small trout in the stream. We are the last to see the stream before it goes underground to the lake. It sleeps 23 in beds, if you have a larger group, cots and air mattresses may be used. If you let us know in advance, we can have them out for you.

Impressive property and very comfortable
Our group had a great time staying here. The house has lots of space for large groups with plenty of everything needed for a comfortable stay. The beds are comfortable which is unfortunately a rare thing in vacation rentals. The home was clean and warmed up for us when we arrived. The hot tub was an added bonus that everyone enjoyed.
We are so pleased that you were happy with your experience. We hope that you will visit us again soon. Thank you for being such wonderful guests.
American Fork Family Reunion
This property was just right for a family reunion; not so big that everyone got lost, yet large enough in the house to accommodate plenty of people. The property outside the rental received rave reviews by family members; adults and children enjoyed the 4 acres for games, walking and getting some exercise, and visiting. Almost everyone said this was their best reunion.
I gave this property 4 stars instead of 5 because of only a few concerns; it appears that the video/satellite system in the downstairs family area needs some constant attention and repair. Among family reunion goers, we had plenty of technical knowledge to get the sound/video components to work, but there was a part or two associated with the satellite system for watching television programs that was not working; so we never were able to get that system working. Also, in the upstairs master suite the bottom outlets in the bedroom did not work, and none of the outlets in the master bathroom worked. Those items need attention immediately if the next reunion goers to enjoy those areas. There were also some concerns that the air conditioning system on the main floor was not sufficient, but it was nice enough downstairs and upstairs. It would be great if the second large refrigerator were working, and there was a closet where extra toilet paper was available. I will mention here that for those with larger numbers attending reunions, the bed and breakfast across the street was a good addition.
If those items would be addressed immediately, I would give this property 5 stars. The main reason I chose this property was the outside 4 acres and the attractive price out of season.
The grounds are so amazing! We came prepared to play a lot of games and activities, and didn't use hardly any of our ideas because there was so much fun to be had on the property. The descriptions of what the rooms will hold is accurate. A few of the rooms could not get adequate cooling for some of our sleepers. You must keep an adult by the hot tub inside the house to protect children, but we all enjoyed it. There was plenty of linens and places to wash/dry if you run out. We made all our meals at the house and didn't have to find entertainment anywhere else. We did send a message to the owner that the kitchen wasn't as clean as we felt it should be and they might want to check on their cleaning team to see that they have more integrity. We feel the owners would not have been happy with some of the issues.
Perfect for our Family Reunion
We had 38 people sleep at the house for the reunion and it was wonderful. We put young family upstairs, 4 boys in the bunk bed room and teenage girls and Grandma and Grandpa in the basement. The four acres around the home are like your own private park. The location was perfect. It was near Costco and Walmart for many quick runs to the store. The major activities which we did were not too far away. We went to the Provo Rec Center, rented tubes and rafts to go down the Provo River, went to Lagoon and hiked to Timp Caves. It was a reunion we will never forget and having this wonderful home in the right location made it possible.
Backyard "park" provided endless fun!
Our family of 34 really enjoyed our 3-day reunion at Lisa's Spring Creek Mansion. There was room for all of us to comfortably fit in the spacious home with places to gather and yet enough privacy for individual families and napping children. Our favorite feature of the property was the yard, with space and fun for all ages. None of the children ever got bored, with the trampoline, playground area, gazebo, swings, bridges, creek, and large grassy areas for hide-n-seek and other outdoor games. A great place for a large family gathering!
We are so glad we were able to get this house. We had 13 adults and 21 kids and you would never have known there were that many people in the house. It was centralized with everything that we had planned, clean and ready for us when we got there. The yard not only has a play set for the kids but it has a trampoline that was in the ground, so level with the grass. I would rent this place again. LOVED IT!
Close proximity to the American Fork Recreation Center with lap and children's pools, as well as exercise opportunities. I highly recommend Thanksgiving Point, which has many museums, theaters, restaurants, and beautiful gardens. For snow recreation, Sundance is not far. A nice Golf course is just up the street. Utah Lake is a big draw for water sports and boating, just minutes away. We are right off the freeway, which makes it easy to get to anywhere you need to go. Hogle Zoo is very popular for the family, as is Lagoon, and Seven Peaks Water Parks. Cowabunga Bay Water Park is also a great family spot. During the summer, each local city is having a birthday celebration, and if you are lucky you can catch their parades, fireworks, concerts, and fair grounds events, including the Utah State Fair in Salt Lake City. We are only minutes from the canyon's mouth and the Alpine Scenic Loop, which I highly recommend for a beautiful drive. There are also some nice places to picnic along the way. Or go river rafting on the Provo River. Nearby Heber Valley's historic Railroad is a fun train ride for the group. The Factory Outlets in Traverse Mountain, Lehi, are a favorite place to shop, or the mall in Orem. Also the Riverwoods Center in Provo. They will often have concerts while you shop, sidewalk chalk art competitions, and are full of great shops and restaurants, near a theater. Some of my favorite restaurants nearby are Zupa's for soup, salad, and yummy sandwiches. The Paradise Bakery, Thai Village, Chinese buffet, Texas Steakhouse, IHOP, Cafe Rio, Applebys, Chile's, and our latest favorite, if you like Indian Food, Ganesh Indian Cuisine on State Street.
