Seven acres of gardens, orchards and trails are carefully set up on a hillside above Penobscot Bay. A Large parlor, library, dining room, master bedroom with full bath and large walk-in closet highlight a 10 bedroom retreat that has maintained the charm of the 19th century as well as some outrageous wallpaper from past decades. A wrap around porch offers pleasant evening sunsets. An elegant covered deck and stone terrace provide beautiful views toward Isleboro, Penobscot Bay and unforgettable sunrises.

Saturday Cove Farm is perfectly located halfway between the historic sea village of Camden and the funky art community of Belfast. Dozens of restaurants and art galleries are within minutes. Sailing, bicycling, hiking and swimming are available steps outside of the estate. Days of the week for arrival or departure are also flexible. If you are up for an adventure stay in one of the enchanting bedrooms and awake to a gourmet breakfast with eggs from our farm or perhaps enjoy a traditional lobster bake with lobster hauled from outside the cove. Wonderful 1800's farm with charm and atmosphere

  • 4 of 5

I would give this 5 stars but for the fact that this isn't the usually expected rental. This is a unique, historical, delightful property that we treasured for a week in August. 15 of our family came together for my 80th birthday. We had a variety of interests, ages, and athleticism joined together in what was, for us, a wonderful home. There were interesting bedrooms galore to choose from on the 2nd and 3rd floor (some with their own entrance to bathrooms), large gathering spaces for informal times on the 1st floor, an immense table that sat all of us, an outdoor eating area that also could seat us all, marvelous grounds for outdoor games, an unbelievable “barn” with hand pegged floors working as a perfect teen room, space for individual retreats, porches for relaxed reading, and I could go on. We could walk to a grocery store or a Pizza parlor, go down a paved road a short distance to Saturday Cove Harbor, or bike along the Shore Rd. Camden Park, Belfast, and Acadia were within easy reach. Saturday Cove Farm in all its charm, eccentricities, and surroundings became a part of my 80th birthday story that is uniquely magical.

All of that said, the house definitely has some quirks. The electrical and plumbing are definitely from a prior century, some of the bathroom and bedroom doors don't close completely, and the only strategy for the crazy dated wallpaper in the bedrooms is to make it a conversation piece. If you want “standard,” this is not your cup of tea; if you want character, it may be.

We ate at the house every day and managed to make the kitchen work. By the end of the week, we were making crepes, but there were a lot of challenges and frustrations along the way. The kitchen is packed with stuff, but much of what we needed was either not there or hard to find. Because the house is so old, there were some issues that the owners need to address, and we believe they are doing so.

Needs much updating.

  • 2 of 5

Yard is wonderful for children! House and furishings needs tremendous amount of updating and cleaning. No view of the harbor from the house as advertised. A few blocks walk to see the water.

Charming home in an amazing setting

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here with a large group of co-workers and their families and could not have asked for a better location for our trip! The house is huge with lots of sleeping spaces and bathrooms, as well as lots of common spaces. But the real highlight of this home is the enormous backyard, perfect for lawn games and complete with an immaculately maintained badminton court! And when we were ready for a break from croquet and frisbee, there were several lovely beaches just a short drive away. The owners were very responsive to any questions or needs that came up both before and during our stay. Would highly recommend this property to all groups!

Amazing property to enjoy quintessential Maine

  • 5 of 5

Saturday Cove Farm is a spectacular house situated on a sprawling estate. The house was very comfortable and enjoyable. The kids.always could not wait to get back to Saturday Cove Farm after our excursions. The kids enjoyed exploring the estate and the nearby cove and checking for eggs in the chicken coop every morning. We had epic wiffle ball games in the backyard and competitive badminton matches on the badminton court. Jeff and Johanna were awesome hosts giving us lots of local knowledge such as blueberry picking and best place to jump off the pier to swim in the ocean. They were always accessible and gracious. Our favorite places to eat were Young's Lobster Pound in Belfast and the Mount Battie Take Out near Camden Hills State Park. Saturday Cove Farm is great for families and reunions. We cannot wait to go back.
