About Judi

After the hustle and bustle of city life in Houston we fulfilled a dream to move to the peaceful Rocky Mountains of New Mexico and build a log home on property purchased some years before. We had a good 10 years at this property as our home. In 2002 we became missionaries to Africa and have lived there since.. See Help4Hope Africa on FaceBook, When we are home and house is rented we may be found in the bunk room apartment downstairs. Otherwise we are away traveling and speaking to raise support for our Africa work.

Judi purchased this lodge in 1991

Why Judi chose Cloudcroft

We built this house in a secluded area in the Lincoln National Forest as a haven for us and for our friends and family.

What makes this lodge unique

Every aspect of Livin Hi is a story. You will see evidence of travels around the world. If you are a hunter or just enjoy being in a 'hunting lodge' you will enjoy Livin Hi! There's even a Victorian room and bath to make the ladies happy! The view from the 35 foot long covered upper and lower decks fill you with awe of God's creation. Bask in the sun on the large balcony off the master bedroom. You will not be disappointed and will never be able to take it all in! A jewel in the rough!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Judy, We wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our time in your home! It was so comfortable and interesting. my children spent a lot of time looking up animals in books and internet to identify each one there. It was the perfect place for us. We spent most of our time there, went into Cloudcroft for dinner one night. We saw about 20 turkeys in the yard most days and after putting out some corn, came home to between 35 and 40 elk in the yard. One day we went to the national observatory and drove over to Bluff

Springs and counted more than 100 elk on that drive. We had a fun , relaxing time to remember while our son is in Afghanistan. It was very hard to leave him but we sure enjoyed our visit with him and so did he, and your beautiful place helped make that possible.

Thanks so much for sharing your home!

Perfect get away for friends or family to relax.

  • 5 of 5

Great trails and roads for riding or walking. Elk were bugling, turkey running around and the aspen's had changed color. The home and porches were comfortable and relaxing. The owners have decorated with many African and American animal mounts and an interesting collection of things from Africa.

Peaceful, restful, secluded, and roomy

  • 5 of 5

We always try to book unique places, and this one was certainly one of our favorites! We live a hectic city life so this place was the exact opposite and was exactly what we needed for our week away. In addition we felt like we got to experience a taste of Africa through the animals there, and also felt connected with the owners by being in their Africa themed home. The amenities in the kitchen were better and more plentiful than anyplace we've ever stayed. We loved the large balcony porches and spent a lot of time out there also. Our teenage boys loved the outdoors and when not out on bike adventures, they enjoyed hanging up their hammocks in the nearby woods and hanging out. We would definitely stay here again!

Livin Hi is Awsome!

  • 5 of 5

Livin Hi lodge was the perfect place for our family get together. We spent 3 wonderful days and the house was perfect. Beautiful scenery and very quiet atmosphere. Judi was awesome and even made a couple of personal calls from the other side of the world to check on us. We had 15 people total and with the lower apartment, we were never crowded. It felt like a home away from home. Now that we have stayed during the middle of summer, it would be interesting to stay during the snows of winter. Loved it all.

Stunning home, tucked away from the world

  • 5 of 5

A scant 20 minute drive from Cloudcroft, midway down of the most scenic canyons in the Sacramentos, Livin Hi was a perfect rental for our group of 6. The youngens were fascinated with all the wildlife trophies spread throughout the house. As a chef, I appreciated the well-appointed, spacious kitchen. The home is vast...plenty of room to spread out, and plenty of space for kids to explore outside. Definitely memorable, and the owners are exceptionally friendly.

Wonderful and amazing place to stay

  • 5 of 5

Livin Hi Lodge is amazing. The view is one that will make you never want to leave. The entire house is a testament to what I can only imagine are two very interesting people and a life of travel. We spent each day marveling over things in the house, discovering something new each day. The kitchen has anything you need to cook and prepare meals in, including a coffee machine! Judi provided detailed notes about anything you might need or use during your stay. The cabin is close to some amazing hiking trails and Cloudcroft itself. We saw elk, turkey, and many different birds all from the 2nd floor balcony each day. There is plenty of room for a large group and all the beds are so comfy! The wifi worked fine to make up for no cel coverage but it's so beautiful you won't want to be looking at your phone anyway.
