As the plane lands, you see the spectacular Azure Sea. Then you get off the plane and smell the air and feel the fresh breeze. Next you take a bus or taxi to Old Nice, a walled-in city built centuries ago. You make your way to Place Vieille, a small courtyard next to the Place Rossetti. You enter the 18th century building and see the restored frescoes on the staircase leading to the second floor.
You are not in Kansas anymore! The apartment is a perfect blend of old world charm (15 foot high waffled ceiling)with all the modern conveniences including a five CD stereo system with speakers in three rooms, TV, DVD player, fax machine, internet accessible, washer/dryer, and AIR CONDITIONING! You are two minutes from the beach/sea, two minutes from the most extraordinary outdoor food market (every day but Monday when it is an outdoor flea market), two minutes from great restaurants, bars, jazz clubs, opera house and five minutes from the bus station which can take you anywhere in the South of France (and beyond).
We spent a week at this great location. Old nice is a Charming area that many people visiting the promenade don't even get to see. We hadn't been to the Riviera before and we were here for Ironman France-- it was wonderful. Joseph looked after us from start to finish. Place is roomy and our two teenagers had more than enough room to spread out. Both had been staying in France and were wide eyed at the sight of spacious living quarters. It's exciting in the middle of town, and if you've stayed in old European city centers, you know they aren't quiet (Venice , Rome, Florence) . But there is a quiet room-- also a washer/ dryer that the kids loved. Kitchen was ample but we didn't need it because we had great, modestly priced restaurants right outside. Lots to do at nearby beaches and ports. Highly, highly recommended.
I have to say this apartment's location was stellar! In the heart of Old Nice, it is just steps from great restaurants, shopping, markets. The interior was exactly as pictured, it's furnishings exquisite up to and including feather pillows in the master. Joseph the owner, kept in close contact with before, during and after our stay. He is utterly charming! I would definitely stay here again.
Lovely apartment, in the hear of old Nice. Exactly what we wanted, to walk everywhere and explore the old town. We stayed for 10 nights. Apartment was what we wanted - spacious, charming, huge bathroom with American style shower with washer and towel warmer and in a great location where we would just walk right out and everything was with there for us. Only one flight of stairs to go back up to! Lots of restaurants to choose from, walk to the promenade and beaches are right there. Shopping at Gallerie Lafayette and the rest of the high end shops are close by but most importantly you can walk there or just take the tram/bus too. My husband and I and our one teenage son were happy to have chosen this apartment, it was exactly what we wanted in order to experience the vibe of old Nice. I highly recommend this property as it was clean, well maintained and the listing photos are accurate. Owner was easy to deal with and had a great manual there for the guests with suggestions for restaurants as well as what to do if there were any issues at the apartment. All in all a fabulous experience!
Great location in Nice. Close to the beach and the market. Great restaurants and shopping nearby. Could walk to the Acropolis Convention Center. Clean and convenient apartment. The owner was very easy to work with. Would definitely recommend it to my friends!
What a great place! As soon as you open the door you realize you made a great choice. Extremely charming and much bigger than the pictures suggest. The kitchen is wide open and very easy to prepare and cook dinner.
The beds were extremely comfortable and the jazz radio station was fantastic!
Not to mention the superb shower and fluffy towels.
The location is excellent;right in the heart of Old Nice.
Joe, the owner and Lise(the lady that greeted us) were extremely friendly and helpful.
We would rent it again and highly recommend it to anyone.
It was a great stay!
An ideal location in a gloriously romantic city. We stayed here for a week, getting around entirely by foot, and could have easily been there two more weeks. A two minute stroll every night for people watching and a gelato from Fenocchio on Place Rossetti, yet tucked off on a quiet and tiny square so that night noise was minimized. Cours Saley, Castle Hill Garabaldi Square were also quite walkable through a hundred different possible alleys and narrow streets. Vieux Nice is Right off the main public rail line, which opens up the rest of the city for exploring
The rooms were large and clean, with a well equiped kitchen. We ended up cooking dinner for ourselves about half the time, with fresh vegtables and incredible bread available in the small bodegas sprinkled through vieux nice and from Cours Saleya. The local caretaker was quite helpful, particularly when we had a minor medical emergency and were looking for a doctor. The windows were easy to open for a fresh breeze, but sealed tightly enough to shut out stray noise while we slept. The air conditioning worked fine when needed, but the weather held, and we used it sparingly. The washer and dryer will be a godsend to anyone trying to get by with just a few changes of clothes. One flight of stairs puts you close enough to the street to lean out of the window and watch life go by, and doesn't wear you out. Plenty of shopping near by including pastries, clothes, art, antiques, you name it. Close to the beach (look for Roller Station right outside of the old city for bike rentals).
Would we go back? Absolutely - my eight year old son, who normally gets bored and homesick quickly spent the entire week without TV or electronic games and would like us to buy the place and move there! (probably not happening...).
