Winter at Yellowstone Lookout Riverside Home: The only car-accessible Yellowstone Park entrance that remains open year-round is located at Mammoth (the North Entrance). That plowed road makes for a fun drive in the winter—you can explore the Tower Falls area, the Lamar Valley and Cooke City. You may even want to stop and ski on some of the many groomed cross-country ski trails which are located along this road. If you want to view wolves, check out the Lamar Valley in the winter. It is fairly common to view wolf packs from road turnouts using scopes or binoculars. In Mammoth you can rent snowmobiles, cross-country skis and snowshoes and take snow coaches that transport you to Old Faithful or take you on tours to other destinations.
In addition to soaking in the hot pools at Chico Hot Springs, another favorite winter activity is to experience the outdoor natural hot spring pools at Boiling River located just inside the North entrance to Yellowstone. You'll also find a public skating rink near the North entrance at Mammoth.
We have lived in Montana for nearly 8 years and live about 1 hour from the cabin. We think you'll like the Paradise Valley and location right on the River. We sure do!
Chalah and Austin purchased this house in 2002
The home is situated right on the banks of the Yellowstone River. In fact, many people say it feels like the river runs right through the living room. The river and mountain views are fabulous and you might even enjoy the great fishing right from the property.
The home is loaded with all the comforts of home and the views from the riverside hot tub are amazing! The location offers a great sense of privacy while being situated in a small neighborhood of homes in the Paradise Valley. You'll find easy access to Yellowstone Park and the fun towns of Livingston and Bozeman, Montana. If you need to accommodate additional people, please contact us for options.
We stayed here on our honeymoon trip. What a relief that the house looked exactly like the pictures, maybe better. It was just the two of us, but so many more people could have come along. We made dinner on the grill two nights. Enjoyed some wine on the deck overlooking lake yellowstone. The hot tub is amazing. Easy to use. There's nothing like looking at all of those stars. We went to the park every day. We can't say enough about this house. Fully stocked, comfortable and beautiful. We loved it here.
Had a great time at the cabin and the surrounding area.
I am finally getting around to leaving my review for what we refer to as "home way from home"! We have rented this home a few times over the years and always very sad to leave!! We could be gone fishing or sight seeing all day and then return home to the hot tub and watch the sunset and enjoy the river view! On some occasions, head back down to the river for some more evening fishing! My husband (and the dogs) loved this especially on days were I was ready for relaxing.....he was only a stones throw away when dinner was ready! This house is fully stocked, was always very clean and has extremely comfy furnishings. There are some wonderful little places to eat a short drive from the house, a small local store (friendliest people) and the Chico Hot Springs down the road. The views and wildlife surrounding really lets you enjoy being a part of Montana and there is NO place better than Paradise Valley in my opinion! You wont be disappointed, the agency is friendly and wonderful to work with as well.
We loved this home and will always remember watching the stars at night from the riverside hot tub. The home is fully stocked, immaculate and features brand new stainless kitchen appliances. We are already looking forward to our next visit.
We felt as if the Yellowstone River was in the living room of this house! We enjoyed simply gorgeous views from the living area and the hot tub on the riverside deck. The home was immaculate and loaded with all the comforts of home. We will be back!!
We selected this home because we loved the idea of the hot tub on the riverside deck. WOW....we got even more than we imagined. The home was immaculate, the views were amazing and watching the stars from the hot tub at night was breathtaking. We also enjoyed the location as it provided easy access to Yellowstone Park (and the fishing was great just out the door). We'll be back!
We have always stayed at a hotel during vacation, but when our vacation included my dad and two cousins driving in from Idaho, we looked for a house to rent so we could stay together. I can't believe how lucky we were to stumble upon this location!
Our trip plans included visiting Yellowstone and other attractions around the area. Pray is located about 30 minutes north of the northwest entrance to the park, but a very easy drive and wildlife can be seen all along the way.
The river is literally out the back door and down a small path. We were there in early May, and overnight the river rose considerably. My cousin spent an entire day plus an evening fishing and never caught anything, but he was still happy for the experience. The house itself is very well kept and it was very convenient to have a washer and dryer (with laundry detergent available for our use) as well as a kitchen that was stocked with the essentials. We were able to eat lots of meals "in" vs. driving toa restaurant. We used the grill on the back deck and everything was absolutely wonderful. We enjoyed the hot tub too, especially under the twinkling stars.
I had never been in a house that used a gas log-burning stove for heat but I was pleasantly surprised. We were in the upstairs bedroom and it was toasty. The beds were comfortable and the down comforters added plenty of heat. Just looking out the windows into mountain range to the east was a view when taking a nap.
We didn't see any large wildlife, but we did see a bald eagle on our frst morning and plenty of Canada Ducks along the river.
The house was a great basecamp for us to explore the area and get back to the Bozeman airport for our morning departure on the last day. It is conveniently located to so many things. Be sure to get to the Gallatin National Forest for a hike or a nice drive.
I would definitely stay here again, or use one of their sister properties. It worked out perfectly for everyone and we were thrilled with our accommodations and the hospitality of Montana.
Located 1/2 way between Yellowstone and Livingston on River.
The vacation rental home is located right on the Yellowstone River just North of the North Entrance to Yellowstone National Park. See Yellowstone, fish the world famous Yellowstone River (just outside your door)and stay in style! Enjoy your own private riverside hot tub after a long day of sight seeing, hiking, biking, fishing, rafting and more!
The home is open year-around and offers a wonderful, cozy, immaculate lodging option for those wanting to explore the many recreational and scenic opportunities waiting for you in the Yellowstone area in the summer, fall, winter or spring. Chico Hot Springs resort is very close by and offers a complete spa and some of the best dining you will find anywhere.
When winter sets in and snow falls on the nearby mountains, the Yellowstone River is fabulous to watch as ice chunks float by. Downhill skiers can head for the slopes at Bridger Bowl or Big Sky, while cross country skiers and snowmobiles can find fabulous trails in the mountains nearby or in Yellowstone Park. After a long day of winter play, the cozy gas fired wood stove and hot tub will be a welcome sight.
The magnificent North entrance to Yellowstone Park is a short drive to the South through Montana’s fabulous Paradise Valley. The only car-accessible Yellowstone Park entrance that remains open year-round is located at Mammoth (the North Entrance). You’ll find that most of the Yellowstone Park roads are closed to normal vehicle traffic during the winter, from mid-December through mid-March. As such, it makes a winter visit an outstanding time to take a snow coach ride, cross country ski or snowmobile through the Park.
