Overview

About the property

Large, luxury 4 bedroom barn on the outskirts of Ferryside, West Wales

Trecor Barns is situated on the outskirts of Ferryside, a small village 5 miles south of Carmarthen. It is a beautiful and peaceful location, close to Pembrey Country Park with its facilities (dry ski slope, toboggan run, crazy golf, miniature steam train, pitch and put, bike hire and miles of white sandy beach). The barn is newly converted to a very high standard and has excellent facilities, including, table tennis table, 42' flat screen TV with sky hd, PlayStation 2, iPod dock. The oak frame conservatory and open plan kitchen provide huge open spaces to relax and prepare family meals. The lounge - upstairs - houses the ping pong table at one end and the TV area at the other. The bedrooms are all large, two with ensuite facilities. Trecor is an excellent base to explore west Wales, just 40 minutes from the Gower and Pembroke surfing beaches and with easy access to Pembrokeshires many holiday attractions, it provides a tranquil base within a small and friendly village.

Trecor has been created by joining two barns together, one barn houses the games room and TV room - upstairs and the kitchen, utility and cloakroom downstairs, the other houses the 4 bedrooms. The two double bedrooms are downstairs. The barns are joined by an oak frame conservatory. We have had wheelchair users at the barn and they have said it has been good as it has downstairs bedrooms, there are however 4 steps to reach the level of the bedroom barn.

The barn kitchen is well equiped with Stanley range (similar to aga, but you can set your oven temperature and turn it on and off!), large gas hob, larder style fridge freezer, with ice machine and cold water dispenser, microwave, washing machine and tumble dryer. There is a level garden area for ball games. Close to the house is a 'secret' passageway leading down to a small river - young children love it. The village is a beautiful 1/2 mile walk down the lane with views across the estuary to Llansteffan Castle. The local shop provides basic essentials.

Birthday weekend

  • 5 of 5

Kids treated me as a birthday present for my 60th, all the family together. Excellent accommodation for a group of friends or family. Plenty for kids to do also for toddlers to run about. Kitchen fantastic for eating in,all round the big table, also for playing games. Best birthday ever. Highly recommended

Beautiful property in a beautiful place

  • 5 of 5

The barn is beautiful. The photos do not do it justice. Such a high standard finish and has a feel like the owner really does care about her guests' experiences. Would love to go back for a longer stay.

Lovely property, ideal for a family of families such as ours, with ample space but social areas too.

  • 5 of 5

We were blessed with a week of largely very good weather, which meant we were able to spend much of our time outside enjoying the local countryside and coastline. We enjoyed the beaches (and sea) at Ferryside itself, as well as Oxwich and Pembrey. We also enjoyed pitch and putt at Gowerton and Frisbee golf at Pembrey, which is a lovely large coastal parkland, where we also had fun with a variety of bikes we hired. We largely catered for ourselves, taking turns with meals and the kitchen was ideal for this, with a great provision of equipment and facilities. The table tennis, toys and bits and pieces in the lounge provided a wealth of treasure to be investigated by adults and children alike, and all of us enjoyed our time at Trecor very much.

Fantastic property - very good value for money.

  • 4 of 5

The photo's on the website don't show the details in the cottage and I think this makes a great first impression. The kitchen was the hub and best feature of the barn. The biggest bedroom did feel quite dark due to dark furniture and curtains but that's really down to personal taste. All the family enjoyed their stay and the playroom was a big hit!

Party of 12 for Mum's 50th Birthday (2 small children)

  • 5 of 5

I struggled to find a property that was big enough for our party and wasn't an absolutely extortionate price for a weekend. However, with Trecor Barns we found it all! Maggie was absolutely great with the booking and arranging for extra beds to be in the house for 2 little extras (5 and 6 year old).

We booked the accommodation as a surprise weekend for my Mum's 50th Birthday and it really was fab. The barn is absolutely stunning and for the price I really was shocked at how nice it was. We had no complaints what so ever and we will definitely be visiting again.

The photos on the website really doesn't do the barn justice.. It is amazing.

We can't wait to come back and we're already thinking of booking for next April for a family member's 30th Birthday weekend.

Thank you for a fab weekend in an absolutely stunning property.

Carmarthenshire has beautiful rolling countryside and pure white sandy beaches. In the area are the National Botanic Gardens, Aberglasney, Pembrey Country Park, Pendine Beach, the race track at Pembrey. Pembrokeshire has many holiday attractions including Folly Farm - small animal farm and amazing play park and small zoo, the Chocolate Factory, Oakwood - theme park, Heatherton - outdoor activities. West Wales and the Gower (40 minutes away) are famous for their surfing beaches, and in parts of the West coast you can still find a beach to yourself, even in the high season.

Ferryside is a small village right on the edge of the Towy estuary, it has one pub a fantastic cafe, village shop, paper shop and post office. The Three Rivers Spa Hotel includes indoor pool, gym, steam and sauna room. It also has a traditional skittle alley and pool table. It has a tidal beach, great for driftwood collecting, cricket, football and children's rock clambering.
