Overview

About the property

Large, luxury 4 bedroom barn on the outskirts of Ferryside, West Wales

Trecor Barns is situated on the outskirts of Ferryside, a small village 5 miles south of Carmarthen. It is a beautiful and peaceful location, close to Pembrey Country Park with its facilities (dry ski slope, toboggan run, crazy golf, miniature steam train, pitch and put, bike hire and miles of white sandy beach). The barn is newly converted to a very high standard and has excellent facilities, including, table tennis table, 42' flat screen TV with sky hd, PlayStation 2, iPod dock. The oak frame conservatory and open plan kitchen provide huge open spaces to relax and prepare family meals. The lounge - upstairs - houses the ping pong table at one end and the TV area at the other. The bedrooms are all large, two with ensuite facilities. Trecor is an excellent base to explore west Wales, just 40 minutes from the Gower and Pembroke surfing beaches and with easy access to Pembrokeshires many holiday attractions, it provides a tranquil base within a small and friendly village.

Trecor has been created by joining two barns together, one barn houses the games room and TV room - upstairs and the kitchen, utility and cloakroom downstairs, the other houses the 4 bedrooms. The two double bedrooms are downstairs. The barns are joined by an oak frame conservatory. We have had wheelchair users at the barn and they have said it has been good as it has downstairs bedrooms, there are however 4 steps to reach the level of the bedroom barn.

The barn kitchen is well equiped with Stanley range (similar to aga, but you can set your oven temperature and turn it on and off!), large gas hob, larder style fridge freezer, with ice machine and cold water dispenser, microwave, washing machine and tumble dryer. There is a level garden area for ball games. Close to the house is a 'secret' passageway leading down to a small river - young children love it. The village is a beautiful 1/2 mile walk down the lane with views across the estuary to Llansteffan Castle. The local shop provides basic essentials.

Carmarthenshire has beautiful rolling countryside and pure white sandy beaches. In the area are the National Botanic Gardens, Aberglasney, Pembrey Country Park, Pendine Beach, the race track at Pembrey. Pembrokeshire has many holiday attractions including Folly Farm - small animal farm and amazing play park and small zoo, the Chocolate Factory, Oakwood - theme park, Heatherton - outdoor activities. West Wales and the Gower (40 minutes away) are famous for their surfing beaches, and in parts of the West coast you can still find a beach to yourself, even in the high season.

Ferryside is a small village right on the edge of the Towy estuary, it has one pub a fantastic cafe, village shop, paper shop and post office. The Three Rivers Spa Hotel includes indoor pool, gym, steam and sauna room. It also has a traditional skittle alley and pool table. It has a tidal beach, great for driftwood collecting, cricket, football and children's rock clambering.

The location is perfect to reach lots of attractions, castles, theme park, beaches and shopping. The barn is extremely comfortable and very well equipped with plenty of space for children to play separately or as a family group. Would recommend to friends.

A beautiful barn conversion, ideal for families with kids. Very well laid out and well equipped.

  • 5 of 5

Located in a very quiet area, but not far from everything you need to make a for a good vacation.

The best way to describe the barns is beautifully converted with a real homely, lived in feel. Nothing is fussy but you have everything you need. The kids really loved the upstairs with the games and tv. The adults were drawn into the oak conservatory to sit and chill and to watch the nightly bat show as dusk fell.

The barns are well located for visiting the Tenby area or the other way towards Swansea and the gower coast. For peak holiday season the traffic was light and very easy to get around the area.

The walk to the local beach, shop and cafe was lovely and only about half a mile. Cafe opening times were a bit limited, but the fish and chips were great and well worth a visit.

Kidwelly castle is worth a visit, if you go then drop into the gatehouse cafe, good coffee and breakfast.

Folly farm adventure park near Tenby is a must if you have kids and like animals and old fashioned amusements. Our party was 10 in total, age range was 6 to 65 and everybody enjoyed the day.

Overall a very enjoyable holiday.

Lovely property ideal for a large group.

  • 4 of 5

This was a very nice property and was ideal for a family of 10. It had everything we could possibly want and the table tennis table was a big hit with everyone. The owners were very generous and left us a hamper full of goodies. The only downside was it was remote and you have to drive along on a single track road for about half a mile to get to the property. Wales is a very pretty country although Ferryside wasn't worth writing home about. It didn't stop our enjoyment as there were many places to visit and enjoy.

Superb Family Get Away

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at Trecor Barns, a superb venue for a family get together. Lovely, rural location & a well equipped, spacious home that was ideal for what we wanted. Lots of space, inside & out, that all flows together brilliantly allowing for outside relaxing & playing, kitchen dining, conservatory relaxing & upstairs lounging & gaming. All of our party loved it, from the small children to the grandparents. Wonderfully equipped, has everything, very clean & tidy yet relaxed & homely. There was also a generous luxury welcome basket. Lots of places within easy reach, castles, parks, beaches & stunning estuary views. The Red Lion pub just down the road did brilliant food as well. All in all, a fabulous week at the perfect venue, excellent value & we took home some very happy family memories! Thank you Maggie!

Excellent, spacious, tranquil

  • 5 of 5

There was a lovely welcome hamper on arrival. The house was warm and welcoming, clean and very well equipped for 10 people with lots of toys for children as well. There was loads of space and we enjoyed breakfasts in the garden and barbecuing.

The location was beautifully tranquil.
