Reviewer Comments:

This was our second year at BH 18 and we have reserved it for next year. 10 of us total including 4 grandkids under 5 years old. Beautiful location, a generally quiet beach since this is some distance into the gated community. People not staying in the gated area have to walk a ways up the beach to get here. House is in excellent shape, plenty of bathrooms and kitchen works well for us. Your photo toward the beach from the second floor deck shows exactly why we like this house. There had been a computer problem with our down payment, but office staff were very helpful. Problem was totally resolved. Sorry I don't remember their names. (Wanted to mention the water in a bathroom sink had been left running when we arrived -- it's fine to omit this if you publish my review.)

Reviewer Comments:

The house was very nice. It was generally clean. The location was excellent. Although the house was generally well maintained, the slider that led out to the porch was a problem to open on the left side (as one faces the ocean). Once we realized that it got stuck, we used only the right side to open/close the slider. We had the same problem with the slider in the bedroom on the first floor. The kitchenware was insufficient for the 4 adults/3 kids staying there. Most of the dishes are plastic which cannot be used to heat food in the microwave. There were only 8 or so ceramic dishes so we had to keep washing them. There were shelf labels indicating "8 plastic bowls" when, in actuality, there were 3 bowls one of which was cracked and unusable. Same was true of things like wine glasses. Shelf labels said a total of 15 when there were actually only 7 or 8 glasses. We only used 2-3 wine glasses so it was more a matter of "inventory" being mislabeled. Pots all needed rewashing. I make a habit of bringing a brillo pad with me which came in handy to get the stuck on food off the frypan and oven pan we needed to use during the week. Everything else was very clean. Bathrooms were very clean. I would suggest that you equip your cleaning staff with the proper tools with which they can do their job. We arrived on Saturday. Sunday the RE/MAX office was closed. I called Monday morning to report these issues - and that there were not enough beach towels - not even one per person. I was told that maintenance would be called and the items would be delivered. I waited until Tuesday and had to call again. This time another lady named "Angie" took the call and actually had the items delivered on Tuesday afternoon (this being the 4th day of our stay!). I do not know if the first lady did not follow through on my initial call or that somehow it was "forgotten" about. Angie was very responsive t

Overall, the trip was wonderful and the BH stunning. The stove top and dishwasher were broken, which was a major annoyance. I'm hoping they are fixed for next year.

The owner was very nice and responsive, the location to the beach is awesome, short 50 yard walk (plenty of beach chairs and sand tools so you don't have to fly with yours). Close to a pool as well. Kitchen is well appointed and has all that you need. Captiva is beautiful and everything is so close and quaint. Out family of 8 had a great time. Thank you. We would come again.

Reviewer Comments:

This house is right on the beach but we tried to address our safety issues with ReMax and were disappointed with their response to us so BEWARE. Be aware that 911 calls can be difficult on the island. Don't assume the ping of your cell phone will let 911 know where you are. You are 40 minutes away from nearest hospital. We had to make a 911 call and we were first disconnected and then the 911 operator did not understand where we were, South Seas Resort/ReMax/private owner.... confusing for out of town guests and apparently 911 dispatchers too. Stairs going to the upstairs are unsafe. Those with small children and older adults BEWARE!!! No handrail on right, the so-called handrail on the left is more decorative than functional and the stairs, landing and kitchen floor all same color/material a visual illusion. My Mom fell and cut her forehead coming from stairs landing into kitchen area and had to go to ER for stitches, hence how we figured out 911 response can be lacking. Large area throw rug at entrance slides along floor and is dangerous. We discovered late in our stay the lanai door lock was broke, reported this, but was not fixed for us as a part needed to be ordered. We had to come up with our own security so we put chairs in the sliding door for our "safety" at night. Pictures of the lanai are deceptive, the area is dingy, has some broken and rusty beach chairs/toys all in a pile in corner, not relaxing at all, furniture was apparently "cleaned" but for us was uninviting. The handle on the outside faucet is broken and rusted, don't get cut. They need a motion light at front door as in the dark you can't see the punch code and entry area can be scary and unsafe. The bathtub upstairs is missing safety stickers, don't slip and fall there either. Dangerous place so please beware.....maybe someone will read this who cares about the safety of guests. They collect the $45 damage protection fee from you but they have major safety issues.

Owner's Response: unfortunately this guest did have a medical issue and while we worked with them during they stay and afterwards, they are not being truthful regarding the property or issue in general. the home is gorgeous, was completely updated and built surpassing any building codes in the area, county and state. accidents happen, unfortunately, and most times they aren't anyone's fault. we have guests in the home every week and have had all 4 and 5 star reviews. also, we include the home address on your arrival paperwork should there be an emergency. local emergency services are top notch and always respond very quickly. all of our team work very hard to try and make each property as perfect as possible for all guests. when a guest feels we didn't hit the mark, rightly or wrongly, it's still difficult and we'll take anything we can take from it to better our services for future guests.

Reviewer Comments:

We were a party of 8 and the 4 bedrooms were perfect to accommodate us. Interior design is good even though some of the furniture in the den is quite worn out. Wireless internet speed is slow (we had 3 teenagers with us) and TV picture quality is bad. Floors are very loud so keep that in mind if you bring kids along. There is no grill at the house but there is a communal one at the pool, so a little extra effort is required to grill out. This has been the 4th house we've rented on the Florida West Coast and this takes the 2nd spot re: location (best one was in Clearwater beach) and house itself (best one was in Sarasota).
