This charming house is within walking distance to a popular beach on Pleasant Bay and less than a 10-minute drive to the other five Chatham beaches. Chatham is situated mid-Cape and is an easy drive to the National Seashore Beaches in nearby Eastham. Truro and Provincetown are approximately 45 minute drive from Chatham. It is a good location for a golf vacation. Very convenient to the following public golf courses: Seaside Links; The Captains' Course, and Cranberry Valley Golf Course. Chatham is one of the most charming towns on Cape Cod. In 2007, Chatham was designated a “Distinctive Destination” by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. There is a good variety of shops and restaurants in the centre of Chatham. Cape Cod has a good baseball league; it is home to one of the teams in the league, the “Chatham A’s”. There are generally two to three games played each week in Chatham. On Friday night, don’t miss the band concert in Kate Gould Park. NO SMOKING; NO PETS.
Boat Rental opportunities: Boat rentals are available at the Wequasett Inn, approximately one mile from the house. Boats may be taken out into Pleasant Bay. Kayak rentals are also available in the area.
The location of the house: The house is located at the base of Nickerson's Neck, which extends out into Pleasant Bay for approximately two miles.
Nickerson's Neck offers many interesting walks, with varied water views.
Much of the walk is along a private 18-hole golf course, Eastward Ho! Country Club.
Eastward Ho! was designed by the same golf course architect who designed Westward Ho! in the UK-- hence the name..
We were greeted on arrival by the owners who introduced us to their home and provided us with information about the property and surrounding area. There is a nicely laid out garden with plenty of space and we particularly enjoyed relaxing in the hammock. We made great use of the outside areas barbequing and eating on the patio. The interior of the property was also well equipped with cable TV and books.
The beds were comfortable even on the warmest nights when we made good use of the air-conditioning. The spacious basement provided us with ample space for storing our suitcases, excellent laundry facilities and a dartboard.
We would recommend exploring Chatham and it's eclectic array of shops and eateries and no trip to the Cape would be complete without a visit to vibrant Provincetown.
Overall a wonderful holiday, we will return!
This place was perfect. It was completely set up with everything we needed: from beach umbrella's to a well stocked kitchen! Charming, cozy, and very convenient to beaches, downtown and restaurants.
We felt very at "home" for the 10 days we stayed, and would rent again for sure. Cleaning up was a breeze because the home was so clean to begin with!
Thank you for having us!

Summer Solstice is a lovely rental home. The hydrangeas were in full bloom when we drove up and it looked like something out of a postcard. Our children loved running in the large backyard. The location can't be beat. We had plenty of room for our family of four and space to host family and friends. This was our first visit to the Cape and Summer Solstice was exactly what we imagined for a Cape Cod home.
We have used Summer Solstice almost every other year for the last 10-12 years. The house is delightful, beautifully furnished, well-equipped and very clean. The location is perfect. It is just a short walk to our children’s favorite Chatham beach (Jackknife Cove in Pleasant Bay) and convenient to the other Chatham beaches and other parts of the Cape. The owners are very pleasant and accommodating. If you ask for something reasonable, chances are, they will provide it for you. It is clear that they are proud of their cottage and want your vacation to be as perfect as possible.
We stayed at Summer Solstice for a week at the end of August. Anne and Phil were very kind to accomodate our Sunday to Sunday schedule at the end of the summer. Chatham is a beautiful town that is perfectly located to explore the Cape. The house is a short drive from town. A downside of the area is that walking is difficult as there are no sidewalks until you get close to town, making what would have been a nice walk to town impossible with children. The layout is great for a family of four. The kitchen is well stocked and the outdoor space is lovely with two patios, a hammock and a glorious outdoor shower. The one downside that we became aware of more clearly upon arrival was that we were expected to wash floors, clean the bathroom, clean the kitchen, and wash, dry and fold sheets and towels prior to mandatory 10am check out. This was challenging with a child (and a pregnant wife), a longer than 2 hour wash and dry cycle with old machines and NO laundry detergent provided. We were thankful we had some of our own left over. We always leave our vacation rentals clean but have never been asked to become the cleaning crew at the end of the stay. A bit of a damper on an otherwise excellent vacation home experience. Be forewarned before you book this house.
We recently spent a glorious week in Chatham, MA at Summer Solstice.I have little space, so will quickly say that it was the best community that we saw in Cape Cod. Wonderful shopping, beautiful beaches, multiple cultural activities, as well as bird watching and biking.
The home was exceptional! Super clean, comfortable and very stylish! We had everything that we needed to enjoy a week of adventure and relaxation! A great place to stay!!!
