Lovely Time

  • 5 of 5

My college girlfriends and I just returned from a vacation at this property. We all loved the cozy and quaint feel of the house. The surrounding neighborhood is beautiful for walks, with a thick tree canopy that keeps you a little cooler than out by the beach. The beach and Seaside town center were an incredibly easy walk and we loved wandering around the super cute streets of Sea Grove, Seaside, and Watercolor. The 4 bikes they provide were a huge plus as well. We had a little trouble with the wifi, but only because of a power surge, but the owner was incredibly responsive in helping us fix it and we eventually got it working. I'm hoping to come back someday and bring my family!

My family and I have been visiting the Grayton Beach area for several years, but boy did we luck out when we rented this lovely home. It was just a wonderful experience. The beach is maybe a three minute walk away, making it an easy trek back and forth as you enjoy the glorious sand and surf. The home comes equipped with all of the amenities you will need, and there's plenty of room for all. The owners are great to work with and very responsive to any questions you may have. We had the best time, and will surely be back to visit again!

Location, Location, Location

  • 3 of 5

We just returned from our trip to Sugar Grove with our two young kids. The location of this home is wonderful and convenient to everything. Truly a block to the beach and two to Seaside. We were able to walk everywhere (including to the best restaurant in the area: Cafe 30A). The house itself is comfortable and nicely appointed. For those unfamiliar with Florida-specific challenges, please note you may find palmetto bugs and geckos in the house (though the house is fairly clean!), and shower curtains get quite moldy. We are told by the property owner (who is very responsive), these are due to the consistent humidity, something we are not as used to in New England. Othewise, the house has everything one might want or need, including extremely comfortable beds (though high, as noted by another reviewer), a washer/dryer, lots of room, and a fully stocked kitchen. The fireplace is a nice plus, especially if it rains much of your week. Overall, we loved the location, but would have loved to have avoided the bugs and mold.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your visit and review. Of the hundreds of families who have stayed with us over the years, you are the first to infer that our home is unclean and potentially hazardous to one's health, as well as crawling with bugs and lizards. On the contrary, our home is professionally exterminated inside and out on a monthly basis, and we maintain a chemical sprayer throughout the outside of the premises to kill mosquitoes. Very few homes have the mosquito systems installed. Yes, there are bugs and geckos here in Florida and the Deep South, and the ones you experienced must have come in recently searching for food. I have never seen a gecko inside this home; they must be getting more brazen. As for the mold issue, we understand that this has been a very rainy Spring there, and when accompanied by warm temperatures, can promote mold growth. We take measures to deter mold growth throughout the year. In this case however, our housekeeper insists that the black stain visible on the cloth shower curtain was not live mold, but rather had been washed and bleached numerous times, with the result that the stain would not come out. It was an oversight that the curtain had not been replaced once it was determined the stain could not be removed. Our goal is to maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable home for our guests, and we will continue to take all steps necessary to accomplish that.

We return again and again!

  • 5 of 5

We have been staying in the 30A area for well over a decade. From Grayton Beach down to Rosemary. Old Seagrove Beach is our favorite and we choose to return there each year particularly to Sugar Grove. The advantages to staying in Old Segrove is that you have prime location for walking to markets, unique shopping, fine and casual dining, bars, and activities for families. It is literally two blocks to walk into the Seaside neighborhood. If you are looking for a more quiet and secluded stay surrounded by oak trees and sandy paths then this is your place. Beach access is just two blocks straight down the street and we always call the same guy for weekly beach chairs. He setups the chairs for us each day early in the morning.

The Sugar Grove House is like staying in a "newly built" old style farmhouse. You have all the comfort but full of charm. Spacious and comfortable downstairs living area with well equipped kitchen. Bed are comfortable with well supportive mattresses. The house is also stocked with extra items like basic pantry items, extra paper goods, lots of good books to read, sand toys for the beach, bikes, chairs, etc. Lots of linens and towels too. It has a more homey feel.

If you are looking for a more quiet farmhouse feel while at the beach then this is your place.

Beautiful and peaceful

  • 5 of 5

This was our 2nd trip to the Seaside/Seagrove area, and our 2nd stay at this house. This home is in the perfect location - just a short two blocks from the beautiful beach, and a few blocks from Seaside proper. The home is beautifully decorated, is very clean, and so comfortable. It is such a pleasure renting this home - easy to work with the owners, and we will be back! October is the perfect time to visit! We recommend grabbing coffee drinks at Amavida Coffee in Seaside, and visiting the airstream trailers (the grilled cheese truck is so good!). Also love the book and record store in Seaside, and just walking around the area - such beautiful architecture/homes!

I just wanted you to know that I've absolutley fallen in love with SugarGrove!

We had an incredible weekend. I had very high expectations of your house based on the pictures and reviews and it was 10 times better than I expected. I was thrilled. It was absolutley perfect and had all the ammenities we needed. We were in awe of all the the furniture and decorations. It's the most welcoming beach house I've ever been to. I've stayed all along 30a and your place was by far my favorite. We had such a special girls weekend with my sister before she got married.

Thanks for sending me the beach chair and golf cart rental recommendations. They were perfect as well. I would recommend future renters take advantage of both of these convenient services.

You were such a pleasure to rent from as well. Thank you for being so easy to work with and for your hospitality. I will definitely be staying at Sugar Grove again in the future.
