You will feel right at home in this renovated Hawaiian style family home. Open and spacious this house sits on a large corner lot just a 5 minute stroll to the beautiful safe uncrowded white sandy beach on the Windward side of the island, known as Waimanalo Beach. Dr. Beach rated it #1 in the world in 2015 !

Sleeps six, with two large air conditioned bedrooms with oh so comfy queen beds and ultra comfortable linens, plus additional queen bed off living area, large bathroom with shower, open living space with ceiling fans and a/c , dining area, full kitchen, outdoor picnic area and gas BBQ. We also provide beach towels, boogie boards, sand toys, beach chairs. Just bring your suits !

There is no washer or dryer available, however there is a very nice full-service Laundromat in Waimanalo Town just a mile away. Wash your clothes and hang them on our large private clothesline, you're on vacation!

This home can accommodate 6, however we do have a private detached studio on the property with a kitchenette, full bath with tub and private patio that can accommodate 2 more called Driftwood Hideaway, #3544241. We will quote you a 20% discounted rate for this studio if included with your stay at Glass Ball Hideaway.

Located one block from a 5 mile stretch of white sandy beach. Giant yard and fun for the kids. Shady ironwood trees give the beach a park like atmosphere. Stroll the trails and watch the sunrise on the windward side of the island. Just a 10 minute ride to Kailua Beach with Kayaking and stand up paddle boards available. Very clean. Owner was great and very helpful. Beach was wonderful.

We went to the beach everyday. Great for young granddaughter. We had very pleasant drives to Waikiki to visit family and wedding. The drivers in our little town were very courteous and always let you into traffic. Very special place. Told Vic the TV stopped working and he replaced it with new TV the same day.

Traditional Hawaiian bungalow on the quieter side

I was extremely pleased with our rental of Glassball Hideaway. You really feel like you are staying in someone's Hawaiian home- well, you are actually as this is the home the owner grew up in. It is not only aesthetically pleasing, but it has everything you could want to make for an amazing stay...kitchen utensils, toiletries, beach toys, linen- everything has been though of. The beach is a short stroll down the street and more than enough room so that the beach is not at all crowded. If you don't feel like eating out, along with the kitchen appliances, there is a great gas grill and the pantry is stocked with a lot of seasonings and staple items. The highest praise I can offer is that it felt like home...we were happy just hanging around the house when we weren't at the beach. I highly recommend Glassball Hideaway rental, especially if you like being away from the crowds of Waikiki and feeling like you are part of a neighborhood!

Wonderful home experience.

The glass ball was a Pleasure to spend my vacation in Hawaii. The home offers all the amenities one could ask for a side from laundry but that is a minor point. Its situated close to many beautiful beaches and local restaurants. A full kitchen also allowed for cooking and entertaining friends. Would definitely visit the glass ball again with more friends.

Noisy and kitchen is outdated with ants marching around.

Close to a beautiful beach!

Spacious and clean! The road is very noisy indeed and the kitchen wasn't updated at all, didn't have basic supplies and there were ants all over the kitchen. Other than that owner was indeed very nice and welcoming, beach toys and towels available.

Owner's Response: Our property is in an active residential neighborhood next to a church and a small charter elementary school, grades kindergarten to third. As we always mention here in Hawaii we are in the tropics and there are bugs. Guests are always reminded to keep counters clean and free of food crumbs when nor cooking. Food left out does attract ants as does dirty dishes left in sink and not rinsed off. We do have a dishwasher. We do supply all silverware, dishes, pots, pans, glasses and coffee mugs. Also microwave oven, toaster oven, coffee maker (plus filters) and of course a stove with oven and a refridgerator. Also do provide several basic spices, staples. The home is air-conditioned, so noise can be minimized if that is a factor. Aloha, Vic, owner

Spacious and very peaceful

Vic was very helpful from the beginning. If I had any questions he was fast to respond. He met us at the house and showed is around. Answering any questions we had and showing us where things were. The house was very large and comfortable. We had a 1 year old with us and there was plenty of room for him to crawl around. The bathroom has lots of counter space and is very clean. We love the beach at Waimanalo and it's just a short walk from the house. I would definitely stay here again! Thanks Vic!!!

Wonderful place for a relaxed family vacation

Vic is a wonderful host and went out of his way to accommodate us during the rental process, and made us feel right at home when we arrived. We really enjoyed our 9-night stay at Glass Ball Hideaway. The house has a classic 50s/60s beach house vibe but with many modern amenities (extremely comfortable beds/linens, air-conditioning -- which we never needed as the ocean breeze was plenty sufficient). The house was VERY clean and well appointed with most everything you'd need. There was a good supply of kitchen appliances that I made use of -- electric griddle, crock pot, blender, toaster oven. I couldn't find a usable electric mixer to make a cake and Vic was kind enough to bring one right over. I did miss having a washer and dryer, and did go down into town and use the laundromat there one time while we were there, but it wasn't a big deal. The house is on a major thoroughfare and it IS kind of noisy with the car and truck traffic (if you close all the windows it significantly reduces it, but then you miss out on the lovely ocean breeze). I slept in the front bedroom closest to the road and got used to it pretty quickly. You can't hear anything at all from the back bedroom. That said, the location was great. We didn't want to stay near any of the resort areas or highly commercial areas so we really appreciated this nice residential, kind of rural area. Nothing is more than about an hour away by car and we went often into Honolulu and pretty much saw the entire Island and sampled a lot of the lovely towns. The little village of Waimanalo itself has a great little grocery store (Shima's) with an incredible seafood section and some cool, walkable restaurants. There is a small charter school next to the house (K-3, I think) and it was a delight to hear the children singing traditional Hawaiian songs every morning. Best for last: the beach is one of the most beautiful you'll ever see. We are not ocean swimmers so can't comment on the suitability for swimming etc., but there were plenty of swimmers and body surfers when we were there. Thanks again Vic for a wonderful vacation!
