This superb brand new property is situated in an idyllic location among the vineyards, within walking distance of a beautiful village. The house is built in the traditional style of a Provençal bastide using top quality local materials. It has an exceptionally large L-shaped swimming pool which overlooks the vines. The pool is fitted with a safety alarm and has wide steps for easy access into the water. The garden, 500m², is mostly a grassy area, with a very attractive south facing terrace by the house. The terrace is partly covered and has a barbecue and garden furniture for outdoor dining. There are also loungers for relaxing by the pool, and there is parking within the property. The interior is immaculate and the house is well equipped and comfortably furnished in tasteful contemporary style.
Calm & Tranquil: Set among vines, garden and pool not overlooked. On the edge of a traditional medieval provencale village.
The house is located next to two medieval towers that are the cliff that overlooks and protects the village of Cotignac
The village is a 10 minute walk away, and has a handful of shops, butchers, grocers and hair dressers and no less than 6 restaurants and 5 cafes and bars
We stayed for three weeks in at end of May 2009. The villa turned out to be a hidden gem in a great little village. The Saracen towers in direct view of the garden makes you wonder if some crusader knights will pass by. The romantic medieval village of cotignac with its lovely square and local market reinforces this feeling. I drove my pushbike daily through the mountainside and made some great trail runs circling the village through beautiful wooded hillsides. The views and photo opportunities in the area are spectacular. We recommend a trip to the Lac St Croix and the nearby waterfall in Sillans-la-Cascade. The villa and great pool offered everything we wished for.
Beautifully situated large villa - total privacy, gorgeous views (you just wait til you open the shutters upon arrival - stunning), incredibly well equipped, clean/well maintained and wonderful garden. Suits families with kids thanks to large pool and dozens of toys (including tennis table) or adults who want to do nothing more than rest, recuperate& read with occasional breaks for the delicious food & wine you can pick up both in the village or at the supermarket nearby.
Village is down in the valley below the villa, a 10-15min walk. A little steep on the walk home but that means you can justify the wonderful pastries you've picked up from the bakery.
Plenty to see & do in the local area
Would recommend this villa highly - truly is a home from home. Can't wait to go back!
This villa is in a perfect location. It has its own substantial garden with a spectacular view, enormous pool, quality sun loungers and a plethora of outdoor seating and eating options. It feels totally secluded and yet the village of Cotignac is close by at the foot of the cliff on which the villa stands. The village shops provide everything you need though there are bigger supermarketa in nearby towns if necessary.
There are beautiful parts of Provence to explore on your doorstep or within a short drive.
The house is superbly equipped, with comfortable sofas and TV/DVD etc. Serious cooks will appreciate the quality of the knives and all the other more arcane kitchen equipment.
The pool is delicious and for anyone with arthritis easily accessed with shallow stone steps into the water rather than a ladder.
We had the most marvellous stay and intend to return soon.
This lovely home on the outskirts of Cotignac was the perfect place to stay for our family of six (two grandparents, two parents, and two children ages 2 and "almost 4." The house was very well equipped, and we took advantage of having some basic groceries provided and our first meal waiting upon arrival. We had great weather (only one day of clouds and showers), and the pool and outdoor spaces were fantastic. We loved walking to the village everyday, visiting nearby market towns, and sipping wine on the patio while looking out at the towers. It's a great place to stay.
This is a great find. It combines a fantastic, clean, beautifully appointed house and enormous swimming pool, with proximity to a village where there is loads to see and do.
The house itself is very private, not overlooked and has amazing views across the valley.
A 10-15 minute walk gets you into the centre of the village which has a selection of great restaurants and cafes, beautiful craft shops and a great weekly market.
The family owners are really lovely and helpful, they built the house for themselves and you can see the care and love that has gone into it.
I would absolutely recommend this to our friends and family as a great find.
We stayed at this house in August 2010. The house is at least as good - probably better - than the photos and description portray. The house / pool / exterior are finished to an extremely high standard and we were left wanting for nothing.
The location is excellent and private - overlooking the two towers at the edge of the cliffs which dominate Cotignac. It is an easy (but steep) walk into the town which is wonderful - small enough to have character but large enough to mean that everything you want can be bought there from small shops and the market.
I am sure we will return!
