Jeff Beeman purchased this house in 2006
I decided I wanted more wide open space and discovered Abiquiu! I bought my Northern New Mexico style Pitched Tin Roof home in Abiquiu, January 2005. I remodeled the North Wing of the home and converted it to a Vacation Rental Casita. My occupancy rate has been 90%-100% each month ever since! I enjoy the company of my Paint Horse "Buster", the 3 mini Sicilian Donkeys 'Shawnee', 'Sunny' and 'Lolita'. (They stand only 3 feet high) Llama - Cinder and Alpacas Forest and Copper. In addition to Cardigan Corgi named 'Soloman - a.k.a. 'Sully' and mini Tibetan terrier named Minnie. And precious cats 'Bibi' and 'Chumley'. For those of your with allergies, the Horse, Donke, Alpaca and Llama Barn is located downwind 1000 feet from the Casita. My friendly dogs are only allowed in the common areas if invited by the guests. We are all quiet and keep a very low profile and are around only when you need us.
I enjoy meeting the wonderful people that have visited and many that have revisited from all around the country and some from other countries that have stayed at my Casita de Chuparosa here in Abiquiu!
I look forward to your stay!

Let me just assure you, if you are considering a getaway in the area of Abiquiu, New Mexico, you cannot go wrong with the Casita De Chuparosa. My husband and I took our 8 year old granddaughter with us on our 4 night getaway to Northern New Mexico. We looked at every available accommodation and spent days weighing the pros and cons of each one. This casita fit the bill in every way. Gorgeous views from every angle of the property, very easy access from Hwy 84, a well-stocked general store very near, and all the most beautiful and interesting sights in this region are very accessible. You will LOVE the way the owner has gone above and beyond to decorate this home in lovely southwestern style and every need that might have arisen was so thoughtfully attended to. Our little granddaughter loved being able to feed and interact with the horse, donkeys, alpacas and llama! Being vegan ourselves, it was a wonderful surprise that the owner was, too. Although he usually provides standard breakfast items for his guests, he was kind enough to provide us with vegan breakfast items which we so appreciated! In short, there was literally nothing that we would have changed or that was lacking in our stay. Jeff is so kind and laid back and fun to visit with and really goes the extra mile to make your time in this incredible part of the country memorable. There's definitely a reason why the ratings are so high for the Casita De Chuparosa! Thanks, Jeff!! We hope we all meet up again one day soon!
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Jeff's charming casita! It was a lovely time for us in a very enchanting spot just above the Chama R. We loved that everything and more was taken care of for us down to the most minute detail. Jeff was a most gracious host and we hope to visit w/ him again in the next time we are in central NM. A joyous place!
Casita de Chuparosa is a jewel set in a stunning landscape. Made all the more special by your host. The perfect antidote when the world becomes too hectic and chaotic. The two bedroom attached casita is well appointed with a fully stocked kitchen and comfortable sitting areas. Each window and both outside seating areas offer a beautiful vista. The area is very quiet, the skies are magical both by day and night. There is a lot of hiking and just walking in the area. There are mini burros and a horse to pet and pamper, as well as many bird antics to watch. The proprietor, Jeff, is welcoming and attentive, a font of information and works very hard to cater to each guest and make each visit special. The hospitality is unmatched in my experience of travel. Sitting in the hot tub under the Milky Way watching a meteor shower and later a moonrise is one of the memories I hope to always carry with me.
What a magical cottage and setting! This place has it all: sweeping views of the Chama River Valley and Pedernal, front and back patios for relaxing outside, very comfortable accommodations inside, and a wonderful host who has thought of everything you might need and whose helpfulness, friendliness and warmth will make your stay all the more memorable. The kitchen if stocked with delicious breakfast options and is also fully equipped for cooking other meals. The rental book has lots of suggestions for adventuring along with detailed directions. Jeff is also available to answer any questions and is very helpful. The back patio is wonderful for night sky viewing and has a barbeque and a chiminea where you can make a lovely fire. We used our SkyView app to view the night sky and woke up early to see the dawn. We hiked to Plaza Blanca where we took fabulous photos of the beautiful rock formations, thanks to Jeff’s advice on which paths to take. Morning coffee on the front patio was accompanied by dozens of hummingbirds at the feeders. Jeff left a variety of food to feed his sweet horse and donkeys. Our only regret is that we couldn’t have stayed longer but we will be back!
A friend of mine, who happens to be a local from Abiquiu, recommended Casita de Chuparosa for our weekend stay. The Casita is nestled in the beautiful mountains of New Mexico but with all of the amenities you may be used to in your everyday life. There is a window unit in each room if you are visiting in the summer and a fireplace as well in case you are visiting in the winter. Both of the bedrooms offer great views of the sunset each night and there is a little patio off of the main bedroom so you can enjoy the scenery outside as well. The owner/proprietor, Jeff, is super friendly and very easy to get along with. The Casita is essnetially an in-law suite that is attached to the side of his house, without any inner, connecting doors. The Casita is fully self-sufficient, down to the washer and dryer to clean clothes that may get muddy in a summer thunderstorm. My husband and I had to get up super early every morning we were there just to make some of the activities that we planned and I was worried that we would wake Jeff up, but he told me that we didn't make any noise sufficient to wake him. The Casita is about an hour drive from Taos and Espanola, though there are plenty of local things to do in the area. Jeff provides his cell number once you book the place and is super quick to text back about any questions you may have about the Casita, or things to do in the area. Many of the county roads in the area are gravel/dirt, including the one leading up to Duane Drive, so be sure to rent or bring a vehicle that can traverse difficult terrain, though the roads are well maintained so that's not 100% necessary. Jeff also has three donkeys, two llamas, and a horse that love his visitors and their willingness to feed them treats. Jeff recommends using Google Maps when trying to locate his property and that app led us there from Albuquerque's airport with no problems whatsoever, right up to the door of the Casita. Our stay was so wonderful. If we are ever in the area again, we will look to Casita de Chuparosa for our stay!
We spent a wonderful adventure-filled week in Casita Chuparosa recently and look forward to returning. The casita is atop a west-facing hill with a wide open view out toward the Chama River valley; gorgeous sunsets and from the front of the property spectacular sunrises. The home is furnished so beautifully and comfortably, one could spend a lot of time inside if there weren't so many things to do in the surrounding areas. In fact, we were hoping for a rainy day to force us to stay inside a little longer!! And lightening would be spectacular from this aerie! Jeff makes it very easy to find all the things there are to do by providing wonderful hand drawn ( and accurate) maps and directions and can be there personally to answer any questions. Although the home where he lives is attached to the casita one is not aware of this and the casita and surrounds are nicely private. He provides wonderful farm eggs, home roasted coffee, homemade preserves, breads/bagels and organic dairy products. In the very private back area are a great BBQ, a raised fire pit that keeps the outside dining area heated and a garden area for sun basking or sunset watching. A decked hot tub is a short desert walk away; solar lights make the path easy to navigate. If you like animals, there is a beautiful and very tall Tennessee Walker paint, 3 mini-donkeys and 2 llamas to entice with treats. Llamas are shy but the others are delightfully friendly! Oh! The hummingbirds!!!!! Chuparosa means hummer in local dialect. We have Never Seen So Many Hummers In One Place In Our Lives!!! Totally awesome, dozens at a time on the feeders, resting in the juniper or zooming around! Bright yellow and black western tanagers also visit their own feeder to feast on jelly and little bunnies hop around to check out the birdseed Jeff puts out early in the morning. Everything combines to make this a perfect place to stay and chill on your trip to Abiquiu...
