Art-Filled Apartment Two Blocks from Heart of Old Colorado City

Bedrooms 1
Space 900 sq ft
Property type house
Minimum Stay 1 - 2 nights

About the property

1 bed, 1 bath apartment a short walk from historic Old Colorado City

Beautifully finished and comfortably furnished, this 1 bed/1 bath basement apartment has everything you need for a fabulous visit to Colorado Springs. This apartment is in the basement of a wonderful 1912-built historic home and has a separate entrance from the main house, so you have plenty of privacy. Beginning in Summer of 2018, the upstairs main house will be a vacation rental as well. Until then, it is our personal home.

The apartment is about 900 square feet with a large kitchen and living area. A gas stove, dishwasher and ample counter space give you the opportunity to cook full meals, or you can walk a couple of blocks and enjoy a variety of terrific restaurants in Old Colorado City. The living area is set up with a 54-inch TV with access to Comcast X1 cable with DVR and OnDemand, and Amazon Fire TV with access to many apps.

The bedroom is just big enough for two people and a queen-size bed, but it's comfortable and cozy. A closet and dresser should give you plenty of storage space during your stay.

The laundry machines pictured are there for your exclusive use, and we provide detergent and an iron/ironing board. The bathroom is equipped with fresh linens, shampoo and conditioner, soap, and a hair dryer.

We've named this apartment Casi Casa, meaning "Almost Home", with hopes that you will feel truly comfortable and at home here. We've done our best to stock this apartment with the type of products we use in our own home, so we've chosen high-quality organic and/or local items when possible. This home is the ideal place to stay if you need a home-base while you explore Colorado, if you're visiting your grandkids and there are no more spare bedrooms at their house, or if you're here simply to enjoy our beautiful city, Colorado Springs. We absolutely love living here and will happily share favorite restaurants, activities, and must-see places with you. We look forward to your stay at Casi Casa!

About Chris and Anna Clonts

We live in Colorado Springs, work together in real estate and recently became parents. We love to travel and explore, whether that's far away or around the corner. We play music together at our local church, cook lots of food for friends and family and do our best to make cool things happen for the people we care about. Knowing and embracing our local community is hugely important to us, so we usually make it a priority to try new restaurants and coffee shops, and stay in the know about new projects going on around town. Introducing people to our favorite things and learning about theirs is a highlight of life, and that's why traveling to new places and hosting travelers in is always worth it.

Anna is originally from California but grew up in Colorado, and Chris is a 5th-generation Texan who left his deep roots to move to Colorado and make Anna his wife. We're intentional folks who love a good story, a good laugh and a good song.

Why Chris and Anna Clonts chose Old Colorado City

This property is special. It's about two blocks from the heart of Old Colorado City, it's surrounded by trees and it's on a quiet street. The other reason it's special is because a lot of love was put into making the apartment what it is. We are treasure-hunters and find our furniture and art by looking hard in a lot of different places, so the end result is always a little quirky, a little funky, and has a collected, been-here-forever kind of feel to it.

What makes this house unique

This neighborhood surprised us by how friendly the people are. Generally, the pace and the people here are relaxed. Walking over to Colorado Avenue from this house is so pleasant, and once you get there, all kinds of art galleries, shops and restaurants are there to be discovered. A short drive and you're at Garden of the Gods or Cheyenne Canyon for a hike, or you can be downtown or at the Broadmoor for a nice dinner. We can't get over the location, and we hope you feel that way too.

Cute af, clean, professional, lit

  • 5 of 5

This was our first VRBO stay. It was really nice. The decor was nice and homey, the amenities were ample, and it was a relaxing little den to hide away in during our down time. There's a picture of a creepy voyeur above the kitchen sink looking into the apartment with binoculars. An odd choice. We covered it with a cutting board to obscure his view during our stay. I left it covered when we left as a passive-aggressive signal to the owners that it's a weird decor choice. And this is my more explicit way of communicating that to you, Chris and Anna. :) We could hear the people upstairs walking and talking, but not too loud and not during sleep hours. That's to be expected from a basement apartment. All in all it was a great stay! Thanks again!

We had an amazing time. The apartment was centrally located in a great city close to hiking, biking 4 wheeling, shopping and great food. Highly recommend this location.

Great Value

  • 4 of 5

The property was as described. The location and parking were outstanding - easy to access restaurants, stores, highways, pretty much everything. Parking was free on the street right next to the property, and there was no problem with availability. While the bedroom itself is described as "cozy" (and it is cozy), the property was really a great value, with plenty of living area - good size kitchen with a wide counter area for eating, and a nice size living area. The washer/dryer were a great bonus. Only four stars because I found that I didn't care for being in a basement apartment, especially given the fantastic Colorado weather. Which was my personal problem, not that of the property or description.
