Really cute cabin tucked away on the very top of a mountain in Bryson City! We definitely enjoyed our 2 night stay here - it was just what we needed to get away from it all. We we're so happy that Michael's cabin was dog friendly! I can't thank him enough for that. It is very secluded with plenty of woods for them to explore. There were paper products, kitchen/cooking supplies, towels, and condiments available for use. The cabin was extremely clean and the hot tub was just incredible.
The only thing i would say for other travelers to keep in mind - be careful if arriving at night. The last 15 miles leading to the cabin are winding mountain roads in pitch black. During the day they weren't very difficult to maneuver, but at night they definitely gave us some anxiety.
Thank you again Michael for the hospitality! He was always a quick text away & very helpful. A+
My husband and I enjoyed our time at Michael's cabin! The cabin was fully stocked with everything you should need--towels, linens, pot and pans, toilet paper, paper towels, salt and pepper, coffee filters, etc. The only thing I could not find (and I may have just missed it?) was oven mitts. No big deal, I just used the kitchen towels. The cabin was in a great location. It was a little over 10 minutes to downtown Bryson City. You can find just about anything you need there including a nice grocery store, Ingles. FYI--if you go to the cabin before grocery shopping, there is an Ingles shoppers card on the ledge below the kitchen window (we didn't notice this until after shopping).
The hot tub was extremely clean and perfect after a long day of hiking. We made use of the fire pit as well. Gas stations are close by and all sell bundles of fire wood. Breakfast and dinner on the deck were very peaceful with a great view. Michael also has the cabin equipped with a great TV package with a DVR. This was nice because we had the option to unwind in front of the TV. The queen bed was very comfortable as well!
The driveway to the cabin is very steep and rock covered. We have a sedan with FWD. We were able to make it up the hill, but give it some gas before going up! I don't think we would have made it if snow or ice covered. Another thing to keep in mind is that there is not actually a living room in the cabin. There is a TV in each of the bedrooms, though, and in the first bedroom, you can use the bottom bunk like a couch to view the TV (there are enough pillows against the wall to use it as your couch back). I wouldn't say any of these things are cons to the cabin but just some things to keep in mind.
Overall, I would recommend staying at this cabin!! Thanks Michael!
We celebrated our 5th anniversary at Ridge Top, with our 2-year-old and our dog. It was exactly what we were looking for! The owner replaced the queen sized mattress during our stay - he was very kind and communicated with us well before and throughout our stay. The new mattress was amazingly comfy! We spent two entire days relaxing on the deck and in the hot tub, taking in the mountain view. We will definitely book another trip to Ridge Top!
The cabin was very comfortable with all the necessities. The hot tub was the perfect temperature for a soak after a long trip. Everything, including the hot tub, was clean and well maintained. (I've been places before where the hot tub was icky and I wouldn't dream of getting in, but not here.) A membership card for the local grocery store (Ingles - which I'd never heard of before) was on the kitchen counter. Most condiments and any necessary seasonings for cooking are already in the kitchen.
The driveway is extremely steep however my fully loaded Honda Odyssey made it up with little difficulty. The address is confusing if you rely solely on a GPS. Once you get to the road switch to the excellent directions sent by the owner as there are multiple cabins on the mountain and reversing safely down the dirt road is not an option. We initially missed the munching cow in the tall grass (he's a cute wooden ornament at the end of the driveway) and had to go all the way to the top before we could turn around safely.
The only suggestion I could make is to leave a folder with some pamphlets for local attractions, nearby restaurants and directions to the grocery & drug stores and places to find things like firewood and gasoline. I found the cabin by looking for lodging near the attraction we were interested in however, it would have been nice to have that additional information at hand rather than trying to use Google. We finally asked some locals on the train where to find what we were looking for
We had an awesome time renting the Ridge Top Cabin. It's a small but super cozy & affordable little cabin. Sleeps four people comfortably. The kitchen has all you need to cook meals & the hot tub is amazing. Great view of distant mountains. It's very private & great for a romantic getaway. Very close to Bryson City & Cherokee. Me & my fiance had the best time. Would definitely rent from Michael again.
Very small cabin. The bed is sunk in and you cant sleep on it we had to sleep on the fold down bed. All of the sheets and blankets were soiled and needed to be washed. The owner is not responsive when contacted!
