Unusually large open plan apartment with high ceilings. There are 2 double beds (1 fixed on the mezzanine level accessed by ladder - ideal for youngsters or guest stop over), living area with TV and DVD player with selection of DVDs, dining area, built in wardrobes with sliding mirror doors, spacious hall, fully equipped kitchen, full bathroom suite.

The apartment is located in a modern development with many amenities for residents only. These include a hotel style lobby entrance with concierge+CCTV for security, swimming pool with sauna, gym, table tennis table, great fun for all the family, communal garden and roof terrace; they are complimentary to the rent price.

Wonderful experience

We truly enjoyed the Clerkenwell flat in London. David is a great communicator, helpful in making arrangements, and Tracey is very nice and flexible about check-in and check-out. The apartment is secure, spacious, and clean, the furniture comfortable and tasteful in leather and glass, and the kitchen and bath extremely nice and well-equipped--all better than pictured or expected. The view out the full-sized double windows in the living room is entertaining, with lively and friendly neighborhood activity. A very good grocery store is a half-block away, the bus stop is a block, good restaurants and food trucks abound, and people are friendly. The location is perfect, allowing for walking (about 15 minutes to walk to the Thames Blackfriars Bridge), riding the bus (63 is great for north-south and 55 east-west), and using the Tube from a couple of nearby stations, Farringdon or Chancery. Before and after running around town to museums, parks, and plays, the flat was an oasis. We loved it and hope to return.

Comfortable apartment in terrific location

We spent 5 nights here with our 10 and 12 year old sons and loved it. We walked into the centre of London each day, it is a decent but easy walk but if you'd prefer to take the tube Holborn station is in easy walking distance. There are plenty of food options close by to either eat out or buy ingredients to cook in the spacious kitchen.

Would definitely stay here again next time we visit London.

Great location right by train, close to breakfast

This place was fantastic. 24hr pool and hot tub. Owner very responsive. Ate breakfast at a place around the corner called Pret A Manger that has probably 10 different fresh squeezed juices, sandwiches, croissants, etc. Close to train station made it easy to get around.

Ideal Accommodation To Enjoy London

This reasonably priced apartment has everything needed for a comfortable stay in London. Our 2nd visit was just as enjoyable as that of couple of years ago. Communication with the owners David and Sue was faultless...arrangements to check in were explained and a friendly helpful concierge can be contacted to obtain the keys.

While the apartment is situated on a busy road, traffic noise is minimal and the building is very quiet during the night. Access to bus stops nearby allows travel to Waterloo and Oxford Street.Farringdon station is less than 10 minutes walk away. (Very helpful for transport to Gatwick Airport)A local Sainsbury's supermarket is close by as well as an Italian Deli to assist self catering. The apartment has a well equipped kitchen including a washing machine.Comfortable bedding arrangements allow for extra guests in this spacious apartment.

The nearby area of Exmouth Markets provides many restaurant choices as well.

We highly recommend this apartment in Central London.

Convenient, well organised and homely

The property was as described in website and lived up to previous reviews.

The location is very convenient with buses at door or within a few minutes walk. The same with Farringdon station and tube. Shops and eating places all around.

It is on a busy road but the nights are quiet.

It has a well equiped kitchen, a washing machine and a good TV. Other little things made it even better, like power adapters.

The complex has a small gym and a pool that we were very pleased to have available.

The concierge was available within 10 minutes of our arrival to open the apartment and orientate us. He was contactable throughout the day.

We stayed for 3 weeks for a work commitment and were very pleased with the home comforts. The owners were contactable and responsive when some bedding issues were uncovered. Would suggest a bathroom steam extractor if this is possible. Cannot reccomend it any higher otherwise, wishing for a good excuse to return!

Not as advertised. Noisy, unclean beds. Pest traps all around. Tumble dryer is an air rack.

My first VRBO fail. One of the two beds was left with dirty sheets. The landlord said I should have requested 2 clean beds. ???? Despite saying he would have the bedding issue taken care of, one of us slept on a pull out chair the entire week as no one came by to clean the bedding or take out the old trash. There was open containers of food such as cheese fruits milk. The owner said he thought I might want them and that I should just dispose of them. That's his job. There was an abundance of mouse traps around and he said they had seen mice the week before so put them out. The tumble dryer is just an electric clothes rack which gave me a shock when I touched 2 sides at once and took over 12 hours for items to dry. There is only one window/door to allow fresh air and since there is no air conditioning and the weather was topping 80 we needed to have that open at all times. This meant listening to a very busy street full of traffic at all hours of the day and night. Sitting on the sofa with the door open I was able to make eye contact with commuters on the 2 story buses. Not at all what I expected. All my previous rentals have been just as stated and received 5 stars.

Owner's Response: We are sorry that you did not enjoy your stay but feel that you are being unfair. When you arrived the king sized bed was made up, as usual, with freshly washed and ironed sheets. You later found that the upper bed was stripped down to the mattress cover. Our cleaner, who is new, had not realised that you wanted two separate beds. We have since asked her to make up the upper bed whatever number of guests are expected. You contacted my husband the following day and complained strongly about the upper bed and the fact that a small piece of cheese, four cherry tomatoes and half a bottle of milk had been left in the fridge, along with the complementary bottle of wine we give to all guests. The cheese, the tomatoes and the milk should have been removed. Our cleaner wrongly thought that they could be useful. We have asked her to ensure that, in future, all foods left in the fridge are disposed of. Because you were so unhappy, my husband offered you a discount of £400 which you took. He also offered to send our son round to make up the upper bed at a time that would suit you. He pointed out that the chair bed was available and that there were clean sheets in the trunk. While kids adore climbing up the ladder to the upper bed, many of our older guests prefer the chair bed. On hearing no more, and when you did not suggest a time that our son might call, we assumed that you were content with the very substantial discount you had taken and with the apartment. On the last day within an hour of your departure, when it was no longer possible to change anything, you wrote to us in aggressive terms to tell us that even with £400 off, it would not be possible to write us a positive review. You mentioned that there were mousetraps; as we explained, the previous week we had seen a single mouse. We have never experienced this before in our six year ownership of the property. We called the pest controllers who dealt with the problem but left some mouse traps as a precaution. I assume you did not see a mouse, as you would clearly have pointed this out had you done so. You are right we do not have a tumbler drier; we have an electric clothes airer which is very effective. I have checked the airer myself and failed to get an electric shock but as one of the six panels was not heating up we have replaced it. Finally, we have found you very hard to communicate with; most recently, we offered to forward the suitcase you left behind and you have not replied. Sue McDougall

The building is located in the Clerkenwell Road between the West End and the City. It is ideally placed for sight seeing, shopping, or to visit London's many cultural attractions. The nearest stations are Chancery Lane on the Central Line and Farringdon (Circle, Hammersmith & City lines, with direct trains to Gatwick and Luton airports). Euston, Kings Cross and the Euro Star terminal at St Pancras are all within easy reach. Within 10-20 minutes walk you can be strolling along the Thames, visit Tate Modern, walk along the Strand, hunt for bargains in Covent Garden or visit the world famous opera. Russel Square and the British Museum are a short walk away as are the Angel, Islington, the Barbican, the Museum of London and St Pauls Cathedral. There are many restaurants, bars and pubs in the vicinity plus a wide range of grocery shops and convenience stores plus a daily street market for all your needs.
