About Sheila and Arthur Ziedenweber
We’ve been traveling to San Miguel from New York City for many, many years and have seen it grow from a small town to the cultural and culinary hot spot it is today. But several things haven’t changed: the light, the sound of the church bells, the hummingbirds, the golden glow of the street lamps at night on the cobblestone streets, the architecture, the fusion of small town quaint with big city sophistication, and the amazingly interesting people that live here. Finally, in 2016 we bought!
Sheila and Arthur Ziedenweber purchased this Condo in 2016
Why Sheila and Arthur Ziedenweber chose Allende
We looked at many homes in and around Centro. Several were magnificent but we choose this home in Colonia Allende for the tranquility of the environment, its proximity to Centro yet away from the noise and traffic, and its location within a Mexican neighborhood with “tiendas” just down the street. La Comer (formerly Mega) is a 15 minute walk. We found really good eateries from street tacos to sit down white tablecloth dinning only minutes away. Taxis are plentiful and buses run up and down Ancha San Antonio to and from Centro.
What makes this Condo unique
Our home is located in a peaceful park-like setting with fountains. Screened windows in every room fill our home with sunshine and a view of the gardens. There’s even a view from the upstairs shower! We are an easy 15 minute walk to Centro. We have updated and redecorated Casa Kiora since posting our home.

Just as advertised but a very steep climb to get to it. Would stay there again and would recommend.
Thank you for reviewing our property. We're happy you enjoyed San Miguel and were comfortable in our apartment. You're welcome back anytime!

Lovely stay in very pleasant and convenient surroundings
We certainly made an excellent choice of lodging and location for our first visit to San Miguel de Allende. Walking to Centro was comfortable. We usually took a taxi back after a day of strolling, sightseeing, shopping, and eating.
There were plenty of shops much closer than the busy Centro area for food and such. Restaurants and take-outs abound nearby, too.
In addition to location and amenities, the attentiveness and personal interest of the owners and of the on-site caretaker impressed us strongly. This easy and non-intrusive attention started soon after we placed the booking and continued until we were on the shuttle to the airport for our journey home.
A usual question is whether we'd choose this property for our next visit. If we come again as a party of three and need two bedrooms, absolutely. If there are only two, we might opt for one bedroom. But we'd be likely to look in a similar area of town and, of course, would hope to be treated as kindly as we were on this trip.
Dear Tom, Liz, and Susan,
We thank you for such a complimentary review and are so happy your first time to San Miguel was a hit. We appreciate that you mentioned that even though we're not in Centro, there are loads of restaurants and food markets very close by. The 15 minute walk into town can take you past all kinds of shops or, if one goes the "back" way, past beautiful colonial homes.
We love communicating with our guests. If we can make things a bit easier or more interesting, we're here to do just that. As you found out, our manager Guillermo, is amazing. He knows everyone and everything and enjoys helping out.
Thank you for allowing us to play a part in your San Miguel vacation!

Absolutely charming little oasis
This is a charming two story unit with private terrace which we loved. The house is furnished very creatively and obviously with great care. There are lovely touches everywhere. The kitchen is VERY well stocked so you can do your own cooking easily. We absolutely loved the deck for afternoon reading and relaxation. We were able to walk into town each day and took cabs back (very cheap). We also enjoyed a number of neighborhood restaurants, with our favorite being the Baurista with unbelievable carnitas a few blocks away. Guillermo, the manager, was great. It probably takes about 20 minutes to walk to town (downhill and then flat). It was also a short walk in the other direction to the large Market. We really appreciated being in a home that had so much charm and was reflective of San Miguel. The owners were easy to communicate with. We would stay again anytime.
Dear Debby and Clint,
Thank you for this 5 star review! Arthur and I had fun communicating with you. But most of all, we were impressed and pleased that you went to so many places. How did you find time to relax on the terrace? We will definitely check out the Chapel of Jimmy Ray! Thanks for the recommendation! As for Carnitas Bautista, I'll recommend it to Arthur and his friends. Just read its outstanding reviews. Thanks for the mention. We're happy you enjoyed your stay in our San Miguel home. Hopefully, your very long trip home won't dissuade you from returning.
All the best,
Sheila and Arthur
We spent 2 month in this cozy and lovely condo filled with beautiful and fun artwork.
The beds were very comfortable, lots of hot water for showers, kitchen is well equipped- we especially liked the authentic Dolores Hidalgo plates - and having the use of the washing machine and clothesline on the terrace was very convenient.
Great WIFI throughout the condo even on the roof top terrace. Smart TV’s were another nice feature. Property manager was very helpful as was the cleaning lady.
Location is great and easy walking distance to sightseeing, shops, groceries and fruit and vegetable stores. Lots of restaurants, lots of street food vendors.
We did side trips via bus to Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato and Guadalajara, all places not to miss. Busses are great and an inexpensive way to travel in Mexico.
If you find yourself in SMA in Jan/ Feb make sure to take a trip to see the wintering grounds for the Monarch butterflies.
We liked everything about this rental and would highly recommend it.
Thank you Sheila and Arthur for letting us rent your lovely home and for being so easily accessible when we had questions.
Dear Peter and Emma,
Arthur and I are so pleased to have received this 5 star review from you. Two months is a long time to commit to an unseen property. Knowing that you found yourself very comfortable and the immediate neighborhood so convenient for fruit and vegetable shopping and small "aborotes" purchases, pleased us even more. Thank you for including travel tips for future guests. Last but not least, thank you a million times over for feeding the hummingbirds and for the fantastic photos you sent. We wish you well.

Wonderful condo in terrific homey neighborhood!
This condo is just as pretty as shown in the pictures. It is very clean and inviting, with a kitchen so well stocked from spatulas, kitchen shears to sharp knives. Yeah! In addition to the standard coffee maker there was even a French press. My husband and I, two type A people were astounded when we fell into the charms of this lovely condo and the rhythms of the seductive city of SMA. Mornings were spent in the living room slowly sipping coffee and looking at the trees and listening to and watching all the birds from our third floor vantage point. By 11:00 we made time for our almost daily walk into the center of the city. People say it is a about a 15 minute flat walk but I will likely never really know as there were always so many interesting sights and shops to investigate everyday along the way that for me it must remain a 50-60 minute marvelous adventure.
Late afternoons and early evenings were spent checking out all the local restaurants. Some local favorites were Pork Belly, Rinconcito for breakfast, Luna de Queso and Mario’s Mariscos. Panio’s bakery is a dangerous and wonderful indulgence. But, not to worry, if you are like us, you will be having so much fun walking everywhere you’ll never gain an ounce. Tip: the local restaurants have great food and are a much better value than those next to El Jardin.
The owners of Casa Kiaora were extremely responsive to our questions and onsite building management was always attentive.
We are so looking forward to our next visit!!
Dear Arlene and Mike,
Thank you for taking the time to write about your 1st time experience in San Miguel and how Casa Kiaora contributed to your relaxation and enjoyment. Arthur and I so appreciate such a positive review. We're pleased to know you had a great time staying just outside Centro. Yes, it's beautiful and romantic in Centro but there's something to be said about quiet mornings drinking coffee and staring into the trees. I had great fun communicating with you, "Donna/Louis". We hope you come back!

Casa Kiaora is a short walk from San Miguel's many shops, art galleries, restaurants, bars, hotels, spas and artisan markets. Also within walking distance is the Biblioteca (library) with English books, theatre, movies and lectures. There are 3 natural thermal mineral springs just a short drive away.
