Villa - quality materials - Breathtaking views - Ideal location
Excellent villa with great terraces, both covered and uncovered, and great view. Three large bedrooms. We were only one couple, but there's plenty of room for three couples or a good size family. Also an infinity pool, though we didn't use it.
We enjoyed Saint Martin very much. It has a large number of great beaches, so you can find one that isn't too crowded without trouble. Great restaurants in nearby Grand Case. If you want an early lunch on the day you leave, try Le Soleil in Grand Case, since they open around 10, whereas most better restaurants are closed for lunch or only open at noon.
Roads on St. Martin are good, but often very crowded. GPS devices don't seem to have mapping for St. Martin. We downloaded Google map of the island to use offline and it worked well in general (not perfectly, but well enough to be quite helpful). If you want a physical map, there's an excellent one from Midok that you can buy online.
This was our first time on the island, we rented the villa for our family (4 people, 2 teens). The upstairs bedrooms were amazing and perfect for the kids. Although there we only 4 of us, you could easily rent with 3 couples or a bigger family. Although the house was beautiful inside, we spent all of our time in the outside space. Simply breathtaking. We visited 6 different beaches when we were there. Loved Orient Beach, Grand Case, and our last day we went to the Anse Marcel Beach (Make sure to make a reservation for chairs and lunch/dinner) which was beautiful. French side was perfect. The only recommendation is to make sure you rent a good car that will easily get up the hills of Anse Marcel. This house was an excellent find and the staff that managed the rental were very responsive and informative.
Just spent 2 weeks here with the family (6 & 3 year old boys with grandma and grandpa coming for a week out of the two). The place is excellent and the view is spectacular. We love Anse Marcel, spending every day at the Anse Marcel Beach Resort, which is just a one of a kind place with a great beach, calm water, service and outstanding food. We have been renting the last few years, mostly in Orient Beach, and coming to Anse Marcel daily, so this was the 1st time renting in the immediate area and we couldn't be happier. This place has, by far, been the nicest in terms of view and amenities. To look over the Anse Marcel cove and Anguilla from the moment you wake up and while you are swimming in the infinity pool is just unbelievable. The 3 bedrooms are all good size and having 3 1/2 bathrooms, one with a bath tub for our little guys, with great shower water pressure (its not everywhere) is perfect. Kitchen is pretty big for the French side of St Martin with plenty of space for everything. Having a dryer (another thing you rarely find on the French side of St Martin), in addition to a washer, even though its not that powerful, was also a bonus. The cleaning lady came twice a week and she is just unbelievable at cleaning everything up.
The property managers, Gabriel and Orianne, were very responsive. Orianne had a cable technician and pool maintenance out the following day after I emailed her regarding some issues. All was taken care of nice and quick.
We always talk about owning a place on the island, as we come here enough, and this is the exact type of place we would want. Beautiful, private, quite and the perfect size. All you see is few other nice villas, when you're on the huge patio, around you.
The only reason I did not give this place 5 stars is because it is definitely in need of some TLC. It was probably built 20-30 years ago age has taken its toll. Time to freshen and liven it up. A paint job, some furniture replacement, some tile repairs and newer coffee maker are just a few of the items. The pool works just fine but you can see that it needs some repairs. Being from the US, some upgrade to the cable offered, with more then just CNN in English, would be great. Cutting down some bushes and branches that block the spectacular view would be one of the first things I would do if this was my place as well. None of these are in any way deterrents that would prevent us from renting this place again though. Its definitely a gem.
The villa is even more beautiful in person. We had a great time and would definitely recommend!
The first impression of this villa is dazzling. The front of the house is elegant and inviting. Upon entering you see a spacious living area with stunning views beyond the terrace and infinity pool. The 3 bedrooms are well appointed and have their own bathrooms/showers/air conditioning. The trade winds keep the house pleasantly cool all day long but it was nice to have individual A/C for sleeping. Orienne, the agent who accompanied us to the house, was very helpful and accommodating. Gabriel Montigny, the manager, also made sure that our questions and requests were addressed quickly. The owner lives in an apartment just below the villa so there is immediate help available - as for example when we couldn't figure out the gas stove operation !
Only two negatives, and they are minor: the air conditioner in the kitchen seems to generate noise and heat in the bedroom above. Fortunately, as noted before, the trade winds are constant and we did not really need to use it. Secondly, one of the upper bedrooms had an issue with hot water in the shower. A plumbing problem which I am sure will be addressed.
In short, the villa and all the people involved with it are outstanding, and for a family trip it was perfect. We look forward to returning and enjoying the excellent location and weather!
Upon our arrival, Gabriel showed us the place and we were wow'd by the views, the accomodations, and the location. It was a perfect place for a getaway week, without being too far away from great restaurants, bars, and sites. Outstanding villa!
