Why Owner chose Broadway
We feel lucky we were able to purchase this property on Capitol Hill. It is a highly prized area with much to offer to a wide variety of visitors and to those living on "the hill." Our house was built in 1920. We were told it's division into three apartments, top floor, main floor and basement was done in the late 70's or early 80's. These apartments are occupied by long-term renters who love their neighborhood and all it offers. The Cottage, a studio apartment, separate from the house, was in a sad state. We spent spent our weekends and evenings from May 2016 to November 2016 making it into what we feel is a comfortable, cozy place to stay while enjoying Capitol Hill and Seattle and all it has to offer.
What makes this Cottage unique
The wooden structure is unique to the block on which it resides. Most buildings on our block are small, purpose built apartments built in the very early 1900's. There is an ongoing change to the area with old structures being replaced with modern condos. Many old buildings remain due to their historic status giving the area its appealing architecture.

Location, Location, Location
You really can't beat the location that is a short walk to both Broadway with all it's amenities and Volunteer Park. Joanna and Dave are great hosts and I really love the cozy cottage tucked in the back with all the thoughtful touches.. I'm a repeat, happy customer and I will be back again.
Capital Hill bungalow
We had a lovely time at this bungalow. It’s tucked within a great neighborhood. It was easy to get to using public transportation. We enjoyed being able to cook a meal too! It was quiet and restful there.
It's in the details
We were busy during our stay and would have loved to spend more time inside this little spot. Clean, modern, well equipped.
Great place for a couple in a great Seattle location
This "cottage" is a terrific place both to stay and as a base for visiting Seattle. We have stayed here three times now. The cottage is compact, quiet, fully equipped, and totally comfortable. Although small, it has an ample bedroom/ seating area, a full kitchen, and a pleasant bathroom with shower... plus an outside table and chairs in the lovely small garden alongside, where we ate breakfast on one of Seattle's beautiful late Spring mornings (a clear mild sunny day in Seattle is unbeatable!). The location can't be beat, either - on Capitol Hill, perhaps Seattle's nicest neighborhood, just a block from Broadway, a central core of Capitol Hill with markets, shops, and many great restaurants. Joanna had the cottage ready and prepared with basics, including fresh fruit, an appreciated welcome when we arrived after a long flight; we were in touch with Joanna throughout our time there and actually got to visit a bit when she was working in the garden.
All in all, a great place to stay; we'll be back.
The perfect place for us!
We had an excellent time staying here. Perfect location to get to everything and a cute neighborhood. The property is super clean, a nice size for two people, everything you need for a visit, and a ton of information to explore the city. Thank you!!
Creative use of space, great neighborhood
We didn't communicate with the hosts outside of brief emails but their check-in instructions were very clear. Property is at ground level in back of larger home with good privacy and security. The space is small but beautifully decorated and they've thought of everything. Kitchen is set up for cooking and bed is super comfortable. We loved the design and details of the bathroom. Place is in a good and popular neighborhood so parking is hard to find. Once we got a space we left the car parked our entire stay and used transit, which is just a few blocks away. Bars, restaurants, a good grocery store and a shop of prepared meals are all close by. Would definitely stay here again.
