About this property

The Gifford is a bright and cheery, lovely home with both breathtaking mountain and serene pastoral views. It is located on 3 acres in the town of Cornwallville, a peaceful corner of the Catskills in beautiful upstate New York. The first floor of this two-story Cape Cod has an airy country eat-in kitchen, complete with cooking and serving supplies. The family room provides games and a television with a selection of DVDs for your entertainment. The glass-doored woodstove in the living room provides added warmth for those chilly winter evenings, while the attached deck offers a wonderful view of our Catskill sunsets (complete with horses). The master bedroom has a queen bed and cozy writing nook. Two full bathrooms are also located on this floor, as is a laundry. The upstairs has three bedrooms; two bedrooms each with queen beds, and the third is the children’s bedroom room which has one bunk bed and two twin beds.

We are pleased to announce that we have recently installed Wi-Fi so those who would like to be connected are able to be.

On the Farm

Winter is a magical season here; it is a wonderland of snow-covered, majestic mountains where adventure awaits you. The spacious backyard has plenty of room for playing in the snow and a stone fire pit to enjoy s’mores or roasting hot dogs. There is a picnic table and chairs to relax on while taking in the star studded sky undisturbed by city lights. Bring your own gear or rent locally to enjoy access to our 300-acre farm to snowshoe or sled. In fact, it’s just a moment’s walk to the main farmhouse where we live and the hub of Hull-O Farms, which of course you’re welcome to explore and enjoy to your heart’s content. During your stay, you’ll be welcome to participate in any activities or ‘chores’ happening while you’re here, such as feeding the animals. You may be able to romp with the rabbits, cuddle the kittens, take a gander with the goats, ponder the pigs, sit with the sheep, or canoodle the cows.

Lovely and Sweet

We loved staying at Hull-O Farms! Sherry was an excellent host. Jared was so great showing us the animals and having the boys help with the chores. We'll definitely return!

What a special place on earth!

Family ski trip

Very comfortable house and the owners of the property were helpful and lovely. My children enjoyed helping out with the animals. Nice views from the house as well

I am sorry to say we never got to meet the property owners and spend time at the farm and we were busy at local ski races. This is a very comfortable house that is lovingly cared for. The owners have done a great job anticipating the needs of guests. The basket of items including pancake mix, maple syrup, jam and snacks was much appreciated, and perfect for our young athletes!

I met my farmer husband, affectionately known as Farmer Frank, in college falling head-over-heels in love with both him and his family farm. I’m honored to say that our bicentennial farm has been in the Hull family since 1786 being one of the oldest farms in the country in continuous operation by the same family.

We started our farm vacation program in 1994 and have had the privilege of welcoming guests for 28 years, many whom have become lifelong friends. Besides the love I have for my family and farm there are 2 things that make my brain light up like a Northern Lights sky …cooking and conversation. I love everything about food, from picking our first garden tomato of the season to transforming it into a part of a tasty feast. I also love the art of conversations for it allows me to see life through the eyes of another. It transforms, educates, illuminates and deepens my compassion.

Why they chose this property

When I look at the beautiful landscape of our pristine pastures and majestic mountain views I often think that I must have been dropped in paradise…it is for me anyway. I hope that you can find time to enjoy our sweet Gifford House and be restored by our little slice of paradise and the rhythm of nature that surrounds it.
