Jean Philippe LEFILS purchased this cottage in 2007

Why Jean Philippe LEFILS chose Beaune area

The Moulin de Cussigny gite is the result of a lengthy project on this family property that has seen many gatherings of friends and family over the last 40 years and is always a friendly place for any guests or visitors passing through.

We take pride in welcoming anyone who wants to spend a restful visit with us in this wonderful property in the heart of Burgundy.

What makes this cottage unique

The Moulin de Cussigny is a place that fosters countryside meditation and rest. It is ideally located at the heart of the famous wine-growing area close to Beaune, Nuits-St-Georges and Dijon.

The history of Burgundy shows itself in every museum, monument, church and small vineyard town, whether you travel by foot or by bike.

Enjoy a glass of wine on the terrace at sunset, in the garden under the shade of a tree, or on the riverbank.

Perfect Accommodations

  • 5 of 5

Although the location seems a bit remote, major attractions in Burgundy are easily accessible. The property is exactly as advertised and our host, Jean Phillipe was welcoming and gracious throughout our visit. We stayed over Thanksgiving and had no problem finding everything we needed in Beaune to cook a wonderful Thanksgiving meal. The kitchen is very well equipped and the layout of the living area made staying in and cooking a pleasurable experience. We also visited Nuits St. George and had an excellent meal at La Cabotte. We would love to return to Burgundy and would definitely stay at this property again.

Great location, beautiful house, convivial owner

  • 5 of 5

With a toddler in our family, my wife and I now make it a point to stay in homes rather than hotels when we travel. Places like the Moulin de Cussigny reward that decision.

The location, situated about halfway between Nuit-Saint-Georges and Beaune, was excellent, giving us easy access to both towns, as well as the Route des Grand Crus. The house was just as described: nicely decorated inside and more spacious than we realized, while tranquil, unspoiled nature was just outside the door.

We never rent a place expecting to have much interaction with the owner, but we were glad to have some brief conversations with Jean-Phillipe, the owner of this gite. He was very convivial, and beyond helpful. He not only helped us find some dining options, he personally called to make reservations for us.

Our experience was so great that we plan to return in the future, and next time, we hope we can stay even longer. I highly recommend this gite for anyone wishing to get a more intimate look into the beauty of Burgundy.

In the heart of the Cote d'Or

  • 5 of 5

The perfect vacation home for us! We were delighted to spend 11 days at the Moulin to explore the wine, food and history of Bourgogne. The property is magnificent, and greatly exceeded our expectations. Very spacious and tastfully restored, it had every amenity we could possible want or need. We especially love to prepare our own meals, and the kitchen was superbly equipped. The city of Beaune is only 15 minutes by car, and the Saturday market was a delight. With each dinner we enjoyed a different wine from the area. Wine lovers, rejoice! We were captivated by our wanderings through the towns and vineyards and utilized the services of owner Jean-Philip LeFils for a memorable full day of visits, tastings and meeting vignerons. It was indeed the highlight of our stay. The area has so many sites of historic importance, and we particularly enjoyed a visit to the Abbey of Citeaux, which was not far. There are many fine restaurants within a short distance. Following each day's adventure, we looked forward to the peace and calm of the Moulin, and we woke up after a restful sleep to the sound of birds chirping. Merci, Jean-Philip, for helping make our vacation one of the best we've ever had!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much, Marguerite and Jim, for your kindness and interest in the life and history of our region, the work and tradition of the winegrowers you've met and of course their wines. I really enjoyed your company and hope to see you again soon. As promised. Jean Philippe

une belle semaine pour terminer l'année

  • 5 of 5

  • 5 of 5
