Description

Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday apartment in Komarna - Apartment Tedo in Komarna

2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, 4-6 people

Apartment Tedo is four semi-detached houses of 64 m2 each. All houses have free wireless internet access, washing machine and dishwasher. Downstairs is a living room with an open kitchen and upstairs are two bedrooms, both with Air conditioner, and a bathroom. The kitchens are very well equipped to a Scandinavian standard with a big fridge, a freezer and a dishwasher.

The Master bedroom has a balcony towards the sea, and the family bedroom has a door into the garden behind the houses. The garden has orange trees, and a family of tortoises live here. There are two big terraces both with a BBQ and plenty of garden furniture.

The sea is 40 meters from the house and from both the front terrace and the balcony, you have a magnificent view over the sea and the village. You may swim everywhere in the cleanest water you can imagine and 300 meters from the house, there is a regular pebble beach.

In the apartment, you will find our own comprehensive guide book with advice and suggestions for sightseeing.

Activities: There is always a game on in the town's football pitch when night falls. However, activities in Komarna are primarily in the water or at the water front.

The Neretva Valley is an area where tribes, nations and their armies have fought for dominance since the beginning of time. Through the Neretva Valley, the trade routes have gone since prehistoric times. The valley has a rich monumental heritage witnessing the presence of man in this area for thousands of years. Many prehistoric fortifications and settlements are scattered on high or low grounds along the Neretva River.

If you like to visit historic places, you can find many recommendations in the guidebook we have written and placed in the apartments.

If you like wine, it is interesting to visit Peljesac and taste the local wine produced from the indigenous Plavac Mali.

And don't miss spectacular and little-known places as Kravica Waterfalls, Bacina Lakes, Mostar, Narona.

If you like a little action, our canoe safari is fun.

Eating out: A typical lunch cost around €8 including a beverage. A delicious wine 'n' dine with fish or meat as the main course will set you back € 12-15. However, be prepared to pay a little more if you go to typical tourist restaurants in Ston or Dubrovnik.

The restaurant in Villa Bili is the only option if you want to dine out in Komarna. It has a good kitchen and very reasonable prices. You don't have to eat there though. You can of course settle for an ice-cream, a soft drink or a cup of coffee.

On the coastal road towards Klek, there is a restaurant in Duboka. It seems to be open all year and has a reasonable good selection of food. It is always closed on Sundays.

For a greater selection of restaurants go to Klek or to Neum.

Dubrovnik: One word: Go! It's tempting to spend every day of your vacation on the beach. However, do allow yourself at least one excursion. Dubrovnik is United Nations UNESCO Heritage Site. The reason for appointing these is 'Protecting natural and cultural properties of outstanding universal value against the threat of damage in a rapidly developing world', as the UN puts it.

Dubrovnik is known as The Pearl of The Adriatic. Retaining its status as one of the most important Mediterranean ports from the 13th century onwards rich Dubrovnik merchants have left a city plastered with magnificent Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque buildings. However, you don't have to be interested in history or architecture to enjoy Dubrovnik. Being a university town it's a 'young town' with numerous concerts, a theatre, an opera, shops, market and greater scores of great seafood restaurants that you'd expect to find in a 70.000 population small town.

About Jan Skov

My wife and I live in Denmark and spend as much time as possible in Komarna.

I am a former manager of a big IT company where I worked with everything from HW to SW to Human resources.

Together with my wife we now run a modest travel agency specialized in South Croatia.

Jan Skov purchased this apartment in 2002

Why Jan Skov chose Dubrovnik area

Our daughter married a Croat from Metkovic, and they spent their summer holidays in the area every year. They were on the look-out for a place to rent by the sea and found out, that our property was for sale.

We visited, fell in love with it and bought it from four brothers who had built it in the 70s as a family summer house.

Since then we have renovated and improved the houses every year, and now we can't think about any more improvements.

What makes this apartment unique

When we were told about the possibility to buy the houses, we flew down and spent a couple of nights in February. It was cold, but we were still able to enjoy our lunch on the terrace and the fantastic view over the sea and the sunset over the peninsular.

That - and the fact that there were 'good vibrations' in the village did it - we were hooked and have spent all our vacations here since. Which is something we never thought would happen because before 2002, we used to go to a new location every year.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We just placed a positive review at FeWo.de, so other people will know it is very good to be in your appartment Tedo. We enjoyed your appartment last week. It is well equiped, we found everything what we needed. We did a lot of trips and your book with ideas was very useful. The children (and we also) loved the turtels in the garden. The sea was great, so near the house.

Absolutely beautiful location.

  • 5 of 5

Clear warm seas and two nice beaches. The accomodation was very comfortable and really accessible to the waterfront and beach. It had three terraces two at the front upper and lower lever and one at the back which was shared with the other four houses and with a very nice garden where the children could feed the tortoises. The rear area had a larger area for eating with barbeque. The different situations of the terraaces meant that you had shade or sun at any time of the day depending on your preference. The house was spacious for holiday accomodation and not at all cramped.

A car is a necessity in this location. Public transport is awkward to use and the roads even to the next village are not suitable to walk on as they are too close to fast moving traffic for comfort.

Owner's Response: Thank you. You are right about the roads and the traffic. I also recommend a car - especially in May and October where the shop may be closed. But we have had several guests who managed without a car and were quite happy to walk or use a rented bicycle for their shopping.

100% fun

Excellent base for sooooooo many fantastic parts of southern Croatia. I have only positive memories of TEDO. Apartment has everything you need for a family. Tranquil, friendly, local beach, local restauarant and shop. I did a lot of research and TEDO matched all expectations.

Wunderschöner Kroatienurlaub

  • 5 of 5

Clean, comfortable, well-resourced and convenientl

  • 5 of 5

We had a seven night stay at Tedo with my wife and our three boys… is was clean, comfortable, well-resourced and conveniently placed to get to the local beaches. We would book again and would recommend to others. Our boys liked the apartment, but they did moan about the shower, which had very little pressure – but we coped!

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for the review and for pointing our attention to the shower. The shower head needs to be changed, and we will see to that immediately. Thank you for staying with us, and we hope to see you again. Regards, Jan

Familie, ferie og fest i topklasse

  • 5 of 5

Vi havde 2 huse til os selv og familien. Jeg skulle fejre min 70 års dag. Det skete hos Vanja med en alletiders Kroatisk festbord.

Vi havde en bil under opholdet og kørte lidt rundt - det var bare skønt.

family with two children July-August stay

  • 5 of 5

1. The listing description fully complies to the reality in terms of location, layout, facilities and equipment. It has everything to live few weeks in holiday house as at home.

2. The house and all the utilities were very clean and in order.

3. The owner was prompt and clear with the responses when we discussed timings, payment and details. The housekeeper Vanja was always available and helpful. The booklet for guests gives plenty of information about places of interest and details for stay.

4. We are glad to recommend this holiday house further!

5. The penninsula Peljesak worth the trip or even not once - the sand beach Prapratno is beautiful and different from the usual rocky coast. With the normal traffic it's roughly thirty min. trip. He haven't visited wineries on the penninsula but the choice is huge. Islands Korcula and Mljet are quite close and available with the ferries - great day trips or even for few days as there're a lot to see and experience beautiful nature. The Mljet sand beach and bay Saplunara is one of the pearls of Croatia.

Inland Bosnian town Mostar is lovely and unusually looking (more Asian than European) with hundreds of little shops along the narrow streets offering souvenirs you wouldn't find in Croatia.

The advise is during the tourist peak months as July and August try to avoid crossing the Croatian - Bosnian borders (going to Mostar or towards Dubrovnik) during weekends from Friday afternoon - we spent twice two hours staying in the huge lines just to show our passports. And you better have a car to travel!

We had lovely holiday with lots of sightseeing and swimming in clear water and tasteful food! Thank you very much! (Family of four adults - parents and grandparents - and children of ten and two years old)

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your review. You are right about the border crossing and I will put a recommendation in the book for next year. There is a new crossing at Bijaca at the end of the motorway where it branches of towards Bosnia and there is a crossing at Cepikuce south of Neum. Both are leading into narrow roads, but much to prefer to holding still for hours in the summer heat.

Komarna
Car: recommended

The small village of Komarna is in a beautiful area on the Croatian coast 70 kilometers North of Dubrovnik and 130 km South of Split.

Komarna is a secure and calm place, and the people are friendly. Beautiful nature surrounds it, and Komarna has the cleanest sea water you can find in the Mediterranean and beaches that are not too touristy even in the August peak.

Komarna is a former fisherman's village and now primarily a summer resort for people in the surrounding area. The mixture of local people and summer guests is just right and the village is an unspoiled, friendly and safe place where children may run around without getting in trouble.

There is one small hotel with a restaurant that is open during the tourist season, one konoba (café) and a mini-market.

Three kilometers to the South are the holiday resort Klek with a selection of restaurants, bars and shops and further five kilometers takes you to Neum in Bosnia-Herzegovina where there are several big shops and hotel.

Komarna is an ideal base for sightseeing to many interesting places and world-class tourist attraction. Our apartments have all appliances and implements you'd need including an excellent guide to the area, and the turtles in the garden is an attraction for children.

Other Activities: The area is rich with cultural and historical sites.
