This apartment/home is on the second floor of a 1929 duplex in the liveliest neighborhood in Houston, Montrose. The apartment measures about 1,500 square feet plus a lovely deck off the kitchen. We are close to great restaurants, cafes, parks, the Medical Center, downtown, museums and almost everything else. You’ll love our place because of the neighborhood, the light, the tranquility and the coziness.
There are two bedrooms, one with its own sitting room and each with its own bathroom. There is a spacious living room, formal dining room and kitchen with breakfast nook and deck plus laundry room with washer and dryer. The apartment has 26 windows and is surrounded by trees, which gives you the impression you are up in the canopy. There is a small front yard and an inviting back yard with fish pond, which the back deck overlooks. Although we are in the heart of Montrose, the street is surprisingly calm.
There is plenty of natural light, but the space is punctuated by table lamps and warm lighting. There is a private entry and staircase form the front porch and a staircase to the backyard off the kitchen. The floors are the original hardwoods with area rugs throughout. We also own the downstairs unit and encourage everyone to be respectful of noise and walking with shoes.
There is a lot of art in the apartment, some of it depicting religious subjects. We are not particularly religious, but love to collect this kind of art during our travels.
