The house includes a dog pen for your pet, internet connection, a flat screen TV in the livingroom wood stove fireplace, and panoramic views of the ocean. Only 30 minutes from Halifax where you can enjoy all the attractions of city including tours of the harbour, whale watching and a ride on the Harbour Hopper that takes you around Halifax and then out into the Harbour. About Beth Newell

I am 60 years old but feel like twenty especially living near the ocean. I was born on Grand Manan Island in the Bay of Fundy where you can see the highest tides in the world. I grew up in the Golden Horseshoe area of Ontario where I studied dance at York University and eventually received my Masters in Counselling Psychology. I have been a Counselling Therapist here in Nova Scotia since 2001 when I returned to the ocean I love. My husband was a police officer with the Dartmouth Police for 33 years. He is now retired and looks after a disabled brother and everyone else in the family. We live about 8 km from the cottage.

Beth Newell purchased this house in 2003

Why Beth Newell chose Nova Scotia

You will know when you arrive. It is a little gem on the Atlantic Ocean. Very cozy with lots of handmade art and an ever-changing panoramic view of the ocean from the two large front windows. Everything you need to make great meals and lots of walking trails in every direction. Many of my guests have returned several times because there is no place like it.

What makes this house unique

Out in the country and not far from the city of Halifax. Watch surfers or surf yourself all year round. Many beautiful beaches, Lawrencetown Beach 10 minutes on the trail away and others from 8 minutes and up. This is a very central location to use as a base to tour Nova Scotia.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Lawrencetown is a beach community with the best surfing in Canada all year round. The village is approximately 30 minutes from downtown Halifax where there are historic attractions, shopping, restaurants and theatre. My home has a panoramic view of the Atlantic ocean and the lights of the Halifax harbour can be seen at night. The house is next to the Canada Trail a marvelous walking and cycling trail that winds around the oceanside. My house has a dog pen for your pet. The house is set up on a cliff and is very private with the closest neigbours over 1/2 mile away.September is a great month to visit here as the weather is still beautiful and the beaches are deserted.

It doesn't get any better than this!

Location! Location! Location!

The sea is literally at your doorstop and constantly enchanting the eye from every spot on this property. Our goal was to be as close to the sea as possible, and we got what we came for. The house is quaint, charming, rustic and leaves you feeling as though you have been there before, comfortable, like home. everything you need is there. The wood stove was excellent. The kitchen, though small, is perfectly adequate.

Having the trail right there is exceptional. The place is also well set up for dogs.

We honestly cannot wait to go back!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind and sweet review of the little Seadance Cottage nestled by Lawrencetown Beach. I have had such great guests since I have started renting the cottage. They take care of it like it is their own. Everyone has respected me and my little cottage. We thank you very much!

Great little cottage, very relaxing with great view of the ocean and sunset and sunrise

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful quaint little Maritime cottage on a cliff above the Atlantic with acces to the ocean below. The Atlantic Trail runs through the property which gives access to kilometers (many) of hiking, running and cycling. For us with an active dog it was ideal. We didn't know when we booked but is a hub of surfing (Lawrencetown Beach). The trail runs through many huge tidal flats. Well equipped kitchen, and tastefully decorated with dance them art. Ocean breezes and sunsets were very enjoyable onthe deck with a glass of Merlot and cranberry goat cheese.

What a beautiful place to stay

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time in Nova Scotia and loved our stay at Seadance Cottage. The view from the living room and deck was priceless. The cottage had everything we needed for our vacation, including tips on places to go in the area. It was such a comfortable cottage and perfect for our family and small dog. We especially loved the proximity to the walking trails and beaches in the area. We highly recommend Seadance Cottage.

Sister Get-Away

  • 4 of 5

My sister and I spent a week at Seadance...just the two of us...no kids...no hubbies. It was a great time to relax and reconnect in a cozy home by the sea. Here are the highlights: lazy mornings reading after a good night's sleep in the very comfy beds, days filled with antiquing, hiking on the trail that is literally right behind the house and walking the beaches, cocktails at the end of the day on the deck sitting in the pretty Muskoka chairs, and beautiful sunsets. Halifax and the airport are not far away. We definitely recommend this place to others!
