Private & Romantic Cottage Overlooking Coral Bay
Tucked high on Sea Grape Hill, Bon Bini Cottage is a peaceful retreat overlooking beautiful Coral Bay, St. John. The cottage boasts picturesque views, convenience to the town of Coral Bay and nearby beaches, and all of the amenities of home.
Bon Bini features a well-equipped kitchen, suitable for making meals during a relaxing evening in. The living area offers a cozy couch with views, air conditioning, an indoor dining table, and a private and spacious attached half bath. The kitchen, living room area, and bathroom make up one building of Bon Bini Cottage.
The second building of the cottage is home to the private & quaint bedroom. Complete with a queen sized bed, it is outfitted with air conditioning to keep you cool after a day in the St. John sun.
At Bon Bini Cottage, the private deck is the perfect place to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning as the sun rises or listen to the enchanting sounds of tree frogs at night. Relaxing in the hot tub for two under the stars is a wonderful way to end the day. The outdoor shower showcases the view of Coral Bay while still being completely private. Lounging chairs to soak up the sun and an outdoor grill complete the space.
The location of the cottage is the perfect mix of tranquility and convenience. A quick drive down the mountain leads you to the town of Coral Bay. Various restaurants (many with with live music), a grocery store, mini mart, and shops are all located within a five or ten minute drive. The beaches of the North Shore (including the notable Maho Bay and more secluded Francis Bay) are less than 15 minutes away. Visitors looking to enjoy the locals crowd on the beaches can venture to the East End of St. John or Salt Pond and Lameshur Bays in 20 minutes.

My husband and I visited St. John for the first time this year. The cottage was even better than the pictures. They put a cool new railing on the back porch and there is some nice shade on part of the deck behind the bedroom with a cute table and chairs. I think the deck was our favorite spot. It is a large deck and it overlooks Coral Bay just like it shows in the photos. We would sit out there in the morning with some coffee and just admire the view, which even though it has changed since the hurricanes from this past year, it is still remarkable to be able to wake up to every morning.
The hot tub was another great asset to this cottage. It was clean, warm, and a perfect size for two. I honestly didn't think we would use it, but after a full day of hiking and snorkeling, and with the temps going down slightly in the evenings, this made for a wonderful end of the day treat. We used it every evening and it was spectacular.
The cottage was very clean, and very nicely decorated. We had all the essentials, plus a few extras, which was great. There is a folder with instructions, such as keeping any foods in the fridge that can attract ants and taking the trash out. Please read! It is very good advice and it kept our time at the cottage bug free.
We have to give a special thank you to Emily, the property manager. She was absolutely wonderful! We weren't really sure as to how much cash we would need and the actual time it would take to get from St. Thomas to St. John and without even asking she sent us detailed instructions on what we needed to do when we landed, how much a taxi ride was, the price of the ferry to get over to St. John, and about how long those things would take. She also gave us advice on grocery stores and was just all-in-all so accommodating and super nice to work with. Emily you made this trip very easy for us being that it was our first time here and we greatly appreciate it! :)
Finally, the owners of this cottage live next door, but no worries, they never intruded. They gave us privacy the whole time we were there. We saw them in passing and ran into them around Coral Bay, but they never came over to the cottage. They are wonderful people. When we did run into them in town, we got to talking and they are super nice and had me cracking up through most of our conversations. We actually wish we could've talked a little more. :)
We highly recommend this cottage and will be back! Thank you for everything!!
Amazing cottage with beautiful views!
We loved our stay at Bon Bini! It had all the amenities we needed. The cold A/C in the bedroom and living room were perfect for those nights when the tradewinds were calm. The kitchen was stocked with all we needed to make our own meals if we desired. The hot tub was clean and relaxing and the deck was the best part because it gave us that beautiful view of Coral Bay. We will definately come again. St. John is waiting for you and Bon Bini is the perfect place to stay.
IMMACULATE, BUT ISSUES
The cottage was spotless which makes it worth considering by the budget minded tourist. But a couple of problems and a couple of considerations if you're tempted to rent.
The refrigerator did not work. After 12 hours the desk thermometer showed 70 degrees - our milk spoiled after 2 days. The a/c unit in the kitchen/living area would not even turn on and I don't think the owner was surprised when we mentioned it. When the power went out, we quickly were asked not to run the a/c unit in the bedroom because it would deplete the solar battery. We understood that. But our sense was that the owners would just as soon as their guests not use the a/c.
Make sure the seating is adequate for your needs. The small loveseat is comfortable only for one if reading or watching TV at night. You'll have to jury-rig a reading light either for it or for the bed. Finally, the deck is in full sun most of the day. We got as much sun as we wanted at the beach and an escape from it would've been nice.
We loved our time at Bon Bini. The cottage was well appointed, tastefully decorated and super convenient to Coral Bay: the restaurants and grocery story are at most a five minute ride. St. John is such a special place and we were so happy to see the recovery from the hurricane going well. Restaurants are open, businesses resuming. The beaches/water/reefs are amazing as always. The property manager Emily made us feel very welcome and at home. We would definitely stay at Bon Bini again! Can't wait to get back. Thank you!!
Beautiful location with incredible views of Coral Bay and the surrounding hills. Perfect home base!
Bon Bini is a lovely property that is exactly as represented on line. The deck and views are the best we have ever had in the many times we have been here. Emily, the property manager is wonderful, responsive, and helpful. The owners live next door and are experienced at providing maximum privacy to their guests who choose Bon Bini. The location makes all of Coral Bay and its restaurants easily accessible, and Maho is all of a 9 minute drive! The cottage is two separate pods; one with a living room/kitchen and bathroom, and the other is the bedroom. We loved this set up! The views take your breath away, the cottage has everything you need, and the chorus of donkeys and chickens never got old. As for St. John post-Irmaria, it is still here, still recovering, and still the most beautiful place on earth with the best people, too. We felt like a part of the Coral Bay community. We love St. John, we love Coral Bay, and we love Bon Bini. If you want to help the recovery efforts, the best thing you can do is come on down! What are you waiting for!
PERFECT IN EVERY WAY
Bon Bini was a perfect getaway in every way. Coral Bay has always been "our" side of the island but we were so lucky to have found this little gem of a place. Emily and Anthony were helpful and responsive and the owners and their resident pets are now our friends for life - I guess that says it all. The kitchen is well stocked to cook your own meals from eggs to grilled fish and big salads, the decks are the perfect place for respite or alfresco dining; which we did every meal. The view is incredible! The bedroom pod works well as a cozy, quiet place to rest up before another day of hiking and snorkeling on St. John. The road up is windy and steep as most on the island, but it is paved & not too far & totally doable. Don't hesitate booking this place & hurry before we beat you to it!
