Casa Maya Azul is a newly built modern home with amazing floor to ceiling views of the Caribbean in every room. It's just a few steps to dramatic rocky cliffs of the Caribbean Ocean and a short 3-minute walk to the sandy Garrafon de Castillo Beach Club with incredible snorkeling and swimming among colorful tropical fish.
Isla Mujeres is just a 20-minute ferry ride from Cancun and is a small, laid-back island in the Caribbean. Isla Mujeres was voted one of the best islands/beaches in the world by Condé Nast Traveler, Trip Advisor and CNN.
Casa Maya Azul is located in the highly desirable, peaceful neighborhood on Isla Mujeres known as Punta Sur (South Point) where you can walk about 100 yards to the serene spirituality of the Mayan Goddess Ixchel and historic Mayan ruins. Our front yard reigns over the Garrafon National Park zip line with crystal clear seas in the background. You'll admire beautiful views of the Caribbean from every window.
There are 3 bedrooms and 4 baths. Sleeps 6-8 (three king beds plus a foot-high air bed that can go in any room and a plush roomy couch). If one of your family members is a toddler, we have sleeping for 9 with a portable crib. Every room has floor to ceiling windows with views to die for. There are air conditioners and ceiling fans in every room so you always feel cool and refreshed!
Master Bedroom: Floor to ceiling windows give you a panoramic view of the ocean and a front row seat to the Garrafon National Park zip line. You'll quickly fall asleep in the luxurious king size bed with Mexican hand-crafted bedside tables. You'll love the en suite bathroom with double sinks, sensual shower big enough for two, and natural sunlight. You can store all your clothes, shoes and personal items in the built-in double closets, shelves and drawers. A safe is secured to the top shelf to store your passport and valuables.
Bedroom #2: Floor to ceiling windows reveal the astounding expanse of the Caribbean Ocean. You are sure to enjoy sweet dreams in the comfortable king size bed with matching bedside tables that were hand crafted in Guadalajara. You can easily store all your belongings in the huge dark wood double wardrobe with closet space, drawers and shelves. You will enjoy your own private en suite bathroom with custom sink, roomy designer tiled shower, and natural sunlight.
Bedroom #3: You can look out over the Caribbean Ocean and the beautiful expanse of the island from the floor to ceiling windows. Enjoy a relaxing night in the comfortable king size bed with matching bedside tables hand crafted in Guadalajara. You can store all your personal belongings in the enormous dark wood double wardrobe with closet space, drawers and shelves. Revel in the privacy of your own en suite bathroom with custom sink and designer tiled shower.
All three bedrooms have king size beds, en suite bathrooms and spacious closets. With floor to ceiling windows, everyone wakes up to gorgeous views!
Bathrooms: The ensuite bathrooms all have a shower, toilet, sink with cabinets, and mirror. Bath towels, beach towels, hand towels, wash cloths, hand soap and body wash are provided. We are a multi-racial family with many different hair requirements so we decided to leave personal grooming choices up to guests. Please bring your own shampoo, conditioner, blow dryer, flat or curling iron and other personal grooming products. The guest bathroom downstairs is a half bath with toilet, sink, cabinets, and mirror.
Kitchen: The fully appointed gourmet kitchen has all stainless steel appliances (computerized refrigerator/freezer, 6 burner gas stove, large gas oven) and granite countertops. Fully furnished with microwave, automatic coffeemaker, French press, toaster, blender, cookware, utensils, cutlery, glasses, cups, mugs and dinnerware. I love to cook and tried to furnish every utensil and cooking item that I use frequently. The largest grocery store is not far from the house. We can also stock the pantry and fridge with your shopping list before you arrive. Added bonus: beautiful view out the kitchen window!
Dining area: Is part of open concept on the first floor. You can watch TV or look out over the pool from this eight- person bar-height dark wood dining table with chairs. It's right next to the kitchen for ease of use. Designer place mats, Mexican themed plates and bowls, colorful tumblers, large wine glasses, and stainless steel flatware ensure that all meals have a local feel. Dine by beautiful Mexican folk art with tall decorative handmade Mexican pitchers and a colorful vase adorning the sideboard.
There is a charcoal grill by the pool so you can grill fresh fish, shish kabobs, steaks or hamburgers!
A high chair, children's cups and eating utensils are available for babies and toddlers to enjoy their meals, too.
But if you don't want to cook, there are 128 restaurants on the island. Isla Mujeres is a fishing island so you can savor plenty of fish and seafood fresh off the boats. You landlubbers can also enjoy steak, hamburgers, veggie dishes, pizza and tacos! There are lots of restaurant options for everyone's tastes. My favorite is The Joint, the island's only reggae bar and restaurant (great fried plantains and mojitos!) and a short 3-minute walk from the house. They also do sunset cruises around the island.
If you have a little one, there is a high chair, pack and play portable crib, baby potty, baby rug, baby bath tub, baby gate, baby eating utensils, beach toys, life vest, books and games. All stored away in a safe place. We have six children and three grandkids so we always want to make the home child-friendly.
Living area: Large plush sectional sofa. You just sink into it and never want to get up! One person could easily sleep on this comfy sofa (I have fallen asleep on it many times!) It faces a big screen HD smart TV with cable, free wifi, and Netflix.
Yes, there is free wifi! Bring your phone, laptop, tablet, and Bluetooth speaker. Enjoy video games, movies, songs, post fun pics on Facebook and Instagram! But try not to do any work because you are on vacation! OK, maybe you can check your email, and if you insist you can get some work done, too. I have participated in business meetings via Skype and attended webinars so it is possible to conduct a little business here, if you must.
Also on first floor: Half bath for visitors and stackable GE washer/dryer. Housekeeping services are available, if requested. What more could you ask for?
Rooftop Terrace: But the best view by far is from the rooftop terrace with 360 degree views of the ocean and this gorgeous island. Just imagine yourself sitting on the rooftop in the outdoor furniture, while you sip a glass of wine (or a margarita) and watch the sun set over the ocean. Believe me, this is a stunning view from an amazing perspective! In fact, one couple became engaged on our rooftop - it is such an incredibly romantic setting!
Oh and did I tell you about the private plunge pool? What a relaxing way to cool off and enjoy the day! Just sit back with a cold beer in the chaise lounge and sway to the vibes of Caribbean tunes! Or hop in the pool and take a ride on our inflatable dolphin Pearl. It takes a few practices to stay on but you just fall off into the water and have fun! If you are an exercise buff like me, I have found this personal pool is the perfect depth for water aerobics. What a fun way to stay fit and cool off!
Speaking of exercise, two bikes and helmets come with the house. Enjoy the natural beauty by cycling around the island. And there are free yoga classes nearby! Or you can do like some guests have and practice yoga on the rooftop terrace!
We are the coolest ever owner operators and can also arrange extras from scuba diving or fishing trips or sailing trips to a private chef or party boat.
You will meet the property manager during your visit, who will greet you, show you around the house and help you get settled in. They live nearby on the island so just a text or phone call away if you have any questions or problems.
Come on down! You know you will love it!
