The home is showing it's age. Unfortunately, we also experience bad weather and a stomach virus that ran through the whole family. Being confined to the inside of house while ill distorted our opinion. Once the sun came out on our last full day there, things began to look much better.
I’m so sorry to hear you were ill while on vacation at our house! The house is older, yes, but we do our best to maintain it as a family. I hope you will reach out to us directly to let us know what you feel needs Inrpovement for the future.
Beautiful location on Pleasant Bay
Our grandchildren loved the beach at the Narrows. The Bay is teeming with marine life for exploring at all tides. The house itself is an informal, sweep out tri-level. The rooms are small but adequate. The bathrooms are somewhat cramped, but the outdoor shower eleviates much of this issue. The kitchen is fully stocked and very workable with all the tools one needs to prepare meals. July is Greenhead month! These are nasty horseflies that bite. No amount of bug spray deters this menace while at the beach. The decks at the house were nicely located to take in the beautiful Bay views. All in all we really enjoyed the kick back life style that this home provided.
Peaceful with plenty of room for the family
The pictures don't do it justice! We booked this home for my husband, myself, our two grown children, my sister and her two grown children and our parents. There was so much room for everyone to spread out. A group could watch the game while others relaxed quietly in another area. The kitchen was very well equipped and the rooms were all comfy. The views are outstanding. There are tons of windows and natural light. The whole place is very open. The beach is small, but is a real beach - very sandy with little seaweed, but lots of shells. It is shallow with no waves, making it great for kids or those who don't want to be surrounded by activity. We had beautiful weather, but the beach was still bery private. You can drive to an active beach in about 15 minutes. We brought a kayak and rented another as well as paddle boards. The beach was great for those. Orleans has many restaurants and it is central to golf, boating, beaches and shopping. They have a notebook with info about the house and the area. There is a caretaker in the area who is always around and available. We had a problem with the plumbing and they had it fixed in a couple of hours! The owner was helpful and answered all of our questions very promptly.
A hidden treasure!
Everything about the property was unique and extraordinary. I don't know the Cape very well at all but from the week I just spent there it is fairly obvious that the property surrounding Eelmans Point House is a gem; surrounded by a land trust and family lands dating back over 100 hundred years, the place is full of history and architectural interest. The house itself is very well suited to having multiple families or couples with a couple of remote suites and a more family oriented wing. It is very well stocked with beach toys, games, books, kitchen appliances and wares, and has lots of space for playing, reading, talking, yoga, etc. The view from the balcony off the dining room is GORGEOUS and the very easy access to the private beach is more than just convenient. This property was an absolute delight for my family and exceeded our expectations in so many ways. The property managers were attentive and kind and more than happy to share the rich history of the land and the family.
We have every intention of returning often and soon.
We loved our stay at this perfect Cape Cod home in Orleans.
It’s tough to say which was more amazing, the very quick walk to the private beach, the spacious home with breathtaking views, or the fireplace we curled up around at night.
The home had everything we needed for our long weekend that included a child and a small dog. The kitchen was well-equipped, which was essential as we ate at home every night. The living space, there were three, meant our group never felt crowded. The walk to the beach was quick and once there we sat, searched for shells, tried to dig for clams and saw the Narrows from our standup paddleboard and kayak (which we had). The outdoor deck was large enough for a small group of us to do yoga outdoors and then have breakfast. We had dinner around its large dining room table before sitting down for a lovely end to our day in front of the fireplace.
How remote and lovely is this space? We spotted deer, turkey, and horseshoe crabs. It was fabulous!
Two tips. Make sure to find the tree swing at the end of Horseshoe Lane. It was delightful. Also, don’t forget bug spray and check for ticks, this is Cape Cod after all!!!!!
Perfect getaway for multiple families and toddlers
We just returned from a wonderful vacation at Eelman's Point. The owner lives next door, and the maintenance fellow just down the street -- they were very helpful and attentive.
We had 3 different families, which included 3 grandparents, 3 couples, and 4 toddlers. The house was perfectly configured to accommodate all of us. The kitchen was big and well stocked. There are lots of sitting areas so that you could spread out comfortably without being on top of each other. There are 2 decks, each with dining areas. I will say that since there are 3 levels to the house, the stairs made us a bit nervous with the youngest kids. The rooms are small but well appointed with closets and good beds. Overall the house is very tastefully furnished and well organized.
The house is very private, down a dirt road. So we could let the kids run around the yard and run ahead of us to the beach without fear. The private beach was so perfect for kids. Very very short walk (shorter than it appears from the photos), no waves, warm water, good sand and some good shell hunting. We rented kayaks and paddleboards from a local shop which delivered and picked up. Remember to bring bug spray - it wasn't horrible but a couple of the days some of us got bitten pretty good (horseflies and mosquitos mostly).
Grocery store was about a 15 min drive - and there was a good fish market near there as well.
Overall, absolutely wonderful time! We loved it so much that we found ourselves rarely leaving the property, as we had planned. It was just too nice to stay right there. Thank you Mon and Sheila!
Eelman's Point House is located in serene beauty overlooking the Pleasant Bay Narrows in South Orleans, Massachusetts on Cape Cod.
Drive ¾ of a mile through the woods on a private road to reach this Architect-designed house, with spectacular views of Pleasant Bay and The Narrows. Enjoy amazing views of the Bay, Sipson’s Island, Strong Island, and Nauset Beach while relaxing on the deck, or through the many large windows in the kitchen, living room and family room.
The idyllic and picturesque towns of Chatham and Orleans are only ten minutes away, where during summer months the ice cream parlors, antiques and souvenir shops are bustling.
Nauset Beach can be seen across the Bay, and is reachable from the house by kayak or sailboat during high tide, or is a quick drive into Orleans by car.
