The Villa: The villa is the owners own holiday home. We keep everything to a high standard and offer an attractive holiday home to our visitors who we hope will enjoy it as much as we do. It is not a bland holiday let but is furnished with plants, pictures, etc to make you feel in a home from home atmosphere. For those who enjoy cooking there is a large selections of utensils in the kitchen, plus a food processor etc.

There are shady areas to sit in the garden plus of course sunny spots for the sun worshippers. The garden has a lemon and orange tree plus a selection of colourful plants and shrubs. The villa is suitable for children and has a stairgate at the top of the stairs for younger children.

Since April 2011 fans have been fitted into all the bedrooms as well as many other items. The cutlery, plates and general kitchenware has all been replaced. We have also installed new lighting throughout to give a beautiful ambience throughout the evening and night-time.

Since January 2012 we have replaced both en-suite bathrooms to a very high standard as well as re-tiling the entire downstairs of the villa.

The area: It is a lovely area offering you the choice of the more lively night-life of Lagos with its boutiques and pavement cafes and street performers. Or Luz itself with a good selection of restaurants, safe beaches - a real family resort. Or the rural areas offering still beautiful beaches of sand but more rugged scenery and lots of good surf. Or the fishing villages. You can travel a little inland up to Monchique in the mountains or just take a small road through the countryside. There is a golf course within 5 minutes drive of the villa and an ample selection of beautiful courses across the Algarve which are easily accessible.

Sports: There are a number of beautiful golf courses nearby, one of which within 5 minutes from the villa. Fishing excursions. Tennis courts and squash courts. Surfing, ski-ing, watersplash parks and a large range of beach related activities. Horse-riding etc.

About Andy and Suzie

We have owned this property from new. It is a family property where we have spent many many years of holidays and we are looking forward to many more.

Andy and Suzie purchased this villa in 1989

What makes this villa unique

We love the peace and quiet of our little cul-de-sac with only 6 privately owned properties. The neighbours are all friendly and it is not a street of 'holiday lets' The beautiful local countryside and seaside walks are a must see for everyones stay. We have also endeavoured to keep the Villa in a traditional Portuguese style and maintain its beautiful homely feel. There are so many modern 'block' buildings available now that lose the character, feel and warmth of our Villa.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We would like to give you our feedback regarding our holiday in Portugal.

We have enjoyed many family holidays in Luz Portugal over many years, but not as much as Nova Homefield.

The Villa , pool and gardens were very clean and well maintained.

The furnishings, lighting, beds, pillows and the designer linen were well above excellence.

At first I wondered about the fans in all rooms, as we had all ways had air conditioning in the previous holiday accommodations, however, we found the fans better, we could control the temperature of the rooms without being to cold as air conditioning can be ,but of course they all so were of a high standard.

The two bathrooms both newly tiled and furnished ,was quite frankly home from home, the showers were amazing, just what the doctor ordered when you have been sunbathing around the pool all day.

Your excellent Manager Tanya was very friendly and accommodated all our requests,

I think anybody who holidays in Nova Homefield would be very happy to spend there well earned money and time there, we definitely did and would holiday with you again,

Many thanks.

Beautiful villa in a great location

  • 5 of 5

We were very impressed with everything about the villa, it's in a great location which is a short walk to luz but far enough away to have peace and quiet. We thought Tanya the villa manager was very helpful giving us recommendations on local places to eat and things to do. The villa has everything you need for a relaxing stay, we enjoyed it so much we shall be returning next year.

Idyllic, relaxing, perfect!!

  • 5 of 5

Had the most relaxing stay and was made very welcome by Tanya who was so helpful and made sure we were happy with everything. Nothing was too much trouble for her. Loved the villa with it's pleasant garden and pool and it was great to eat out in the BBQ area where we had our breakfast and the odd evening meal. Rooms in the villa are very tastefully furnished and clean. The resort of Luz is picturesque and peaceful and I can recommend the Dolphin restaurant to eat and Atlantico. Burgau is a quiet fishing village and worth a visit. All in all this is the best holiday we have had for total relaxation in a lovely resort and beautiful villa.

Beautiful villa

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this villa from 25.05.15 - 01.06.15.It was great, the kids loved the pool and the villa was of a high standard. Only a short distance from the beach, local restaurants and shops. Tanya was brilliant she had lots of local knowledge and was always willing to help.Thank you Suzanne and Andy for being so helpful and responding to all my emails beforehand. All in all we had a lovely, relaxing time and would stay again should we visit Luz again.

A charming, well maintained spacious villa.

  • 5 of 5

A charming, well maintained spacious and thoughtfully laid out villa. Upon arrival we were all taken with the attention to detail and the thoughtfulness of owner’s finishing touches.

The manager, Tanya was soon in touch to make sure we had arrived safely and showed us around the villa. Throughout our stay Tanya was on hand and made us all very welcome.

The 3 bedrooms on the ground floor are bright and spacious with plenty of wardrobe and storage space. The on suite bedroom however is the pick of the bunch for us grown ups! Mainly for the door that leads out to the poolside, with a coffee and read to hand is how i start my day!

Upstairs is very light and airy with a large well equipped kitchen, which is particularly handy once you discover the supmarket (Baptiste) has everything to fill the large fridge.

The lounge makes for a perfect space for a family evening in, tastefully decorated and provides lots to do. Books, games tv and plenty of seating. Outside views are lovely from the doors leading out to the balcony.

We made good use of the barbecue outside that comfortably seats 8.

I recommend a visit to the local beach for the water sports/ inflatable boat rides and other things inflatable that they will tow you out on…lots of fun. Beach bars are near by and the locals are very friendly.

Theirs not a shortage of restaurants in the town to eat out but if you like fish do trip out to Lagos where you’ll get a bigger range to choose from.

Novo Homefield - July 2014

  • 4 of 5

As a family of 4 we stayed at the villa for 9 nights at the end of July . The villa is clean and well stocked with many accompaniments that one might not normally expect from a holiday let . Also great on site assistance from Tanya when needed and a good welcome pack .

The pool area is nice with adequate loungers and chairs - but it really needs to be used by 5.30 as the sun starts to go from it and the loungers - which is a shame after you have been on the beach all day and want to cool down . The pruning back of one tree beyond the barbecue seating area would certainly help here .

The loss of the british tv channels is certainly a fairly recent blow to all villa renters in Spain & Portugal but most punters expect some sort of recognisable tv or catch up service at their leisure . There are 'fixes' as we read while we were here and I understand that the owners are currently looking at some of these . The wi-fi though is definitely okay for holiday use .

The villa location is fine albeit a bit out of Luz with no immediate facilities close by - and you probably need a hire car for the whole trip and these do not come cheap these days unfortunately .

We went to Burgau more at night - a bit quieter . The Esquinna Restaurant is recommended and others seem good . The best snack bar / cafe in Luz is Bombordo up rua da Praia from the beach beyond Habana & Lazuli which are always packed out !

2 of us [ non-handicap players] played golf twice at Espiche Golf Club [ on the road from Espiche to Barao de Sao Joao ] and all 4 of us went to the saturday lunchtime grill there . Both are highly recommended . The monthly flea market at Barao de Sao Joao is however rubbish - avoid !

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking time to submit a review and for your suggestions of local restaurants and helpful advice regarding our beautiful tree - Jacaranda Mimosifolia. We fully appreciate that by the end of the day shadows are formed over some of the pool area and will discuss with our gardener, who attends every week, to see if this can be helped, without detriment to the BBQ area or garden privacy of course. It isn’t something that has been mentioned previously. We also take on-board your comments regarding watching TV whilst on your holiday and as soon as our villa manager and neighbours have a solution we will implement immediately. We expect this to be a short lived issue. We do of course have a high speed broadband connection which I hope sufficed on this occasion. All in all we hope you had a lovely holiday. Many thanks and best regards Andy and Suzie

Perfect holiday

  • 5 of 5

The villa was truly stunning and offers everything you could want and need for a perfect relaxing family holiday. Tanya was a diamond, and went out of her way to make sure you were enjoying your holiday. Communication with the owners Andy and Suzie was also super and they made you feel like nothing was a bother if you needed to contact them for any reason..There are lots to do in Praia itself but really would recommend hiring a car to explore surrounding areas. The welcome pack on arrival is a nice touch, especially if like us you arrive on a late flight. The pool was great and more than large enough for 3 children(4 if you count dad!) to play and have fun all day long.. All in all we cannot recommend the villa highly enough - and have been to all our family and friends.. Truly fabulous holiday. We hope to return again soon.. Keenan family :-)

The area offers a widespread variety of activities from surfing to golf. From watersplash parks to Roman sites. To areas of flowers and fauna. Praia da Luz is a lovely family resort, The beach is a safe sandy bay with rock pools at one end. Voted the best beach on the Algarve for children. A pedestrian only attractive esplanade with a few small shops. There are watersports on the beach and lots of excellent restaurants close at hand. There is a good family run supermarket that offers large range of products and excellent fresh meat and vegetables. Also a fishmarket. Lagos is only 4 km away which is a 15th century town with a large marina, abundance of restaurants and lots of activities including paragliding. boat trips etc. There are also many secluded beaches closeby which are great for surfing. Most beaches do have excellent restaurants. Lots of walking areas from the villa or a short drive away. Many interesting places to visit whether historic or areas of beauty.
