Very pretty small charming 45 sq.m apartment in the heart of the Latin Quarter. It can be rented for 4 guests (one double bed and one sofa bed sleeping 2), on the 2nd floor of a typical 17th century building along a calm sunny road in the historic, artistic and literary quarter of Paris. Just 5 minutes on foot from Notre Dame and Saint Germain des Prés, close to the Saint Michel metro and many bus routes. An ideal starting point to discover the exceedingly beautiful cultural and tourist hotspots of the capital city. Numerous cafés, restaurants, cinemas, art galleries and shops nearby.
This was a completely wonderful experience. The apartment was as advertised and perfect, and the owners were perfect too. We both simply loved everything about it and hope to return very soon!
We had a delightful stay in this charming apartment for 5 nights. It was a perfect location for sightseeing as the metro is close by. The apartment was clean and had everything we needed to cook a few meals in the apartment. It is a great bathroom and a comfortable bed. The wifi worked like a charm. The apartment is near many bustling streets with great restaurants and cafes. Thanks to Aurelien who helped us with apartment. We definitely hope to be back.
Review of stay Sept 3-Oct 3 and Oct 24-Nov. 9, 2015.
We are an American couple who planned a 7 week stay in Paris this fall. We selected an apartment listed with VRBO. What a good idea it was. This apartment was located in a highly desirable location on the left bank, near L'Eglise Notre Dame, steps away from Rue St. Michel and Rue St Germain. We could not have selected a more hospitable, comfortable, centralized and conveniently located site.
Our stay at this location, 5 Rue Suger offered the magic of Paris near our front door, two stories above street level on a classically narrow side street at the edge of the Seine.
Our visit was further enhanced by the kindness of the apartment owners, Marc and Mina. Because we spoke limited French, their communication in English helped us several times to understand and overcome situations related to geography, transportation, wifi and other communication needs. Further, their apartment included such amenities as a washer and dryer, all kitchen equipment, cable TV and printed maps and books for the traveler in France. Their kind assistance and support made us feel like we were home away from home. Our uncertainty with the language and unfamiliarity with the transportation and other services were clearly explained by Marc and Mina.
Now that we are back home, we often reminisce about and miss our stay in Paris at 5 Rue Suger.
In May, my husband and I stayed for 9 nights in this wonderful apartment. We found it comfortable and charming. There is light and air but no noise from the window well off the living area. The dining and sleeping area had two huge windows over the quiet street. I appreciated how we could open all the windows and have a sunny and airy, yet quiet apartment.
My husband and I have different wake/sleep cycles. We were happy to find that we could close the kitchen door and not disturb the person in bed. Even though there isn't a separate bedroom, this apartment feels much like a one bedroom and not like a typical studio. The bed was extremely comfortable and we both slept well.
Unlike most reviewers, we do cook in Paris, and there was everything necessary to make real meals.
Our only regret was picking a time when the owners were out of town. Mina was perfect to work with using email and Paypal. Hopefully, we will meet in person next time. We have stayed in three other apartments in Paris, all one-bedroom apartments, and this is our first choice for next time.
We loved our stay in this apartment. The location is perfect - in the Latin Quarter so close to the Seine, and yet on a quiet street. We could walk everywhere, and the metro and RER are just 2 or 3 minutes away. It is just as the pictures show - clean, lots of closet space, comfortable bed, everything we could need for a home away from home. I especially appreciated great internet, and a great shower!
Mina and Marc are excellent hosts; very helpful, and live right below in case of need.
My boyfriend and I stayed in this lovely flat a few weeks ago and couldn't have been more pleased. From the time we walked through the old doors into the 17th century building we knew we were someplace special. Two flights up into a charming flat that overlooked the quiet street, we entered into a small but lovely apartment. It was spotless and decorated with simple elegance. The large closet space was such an added bonus as we were able to store our clothes and suitcases away completely and feel like for just a short moment it was our home.
While we didn't use the kitchen much, it had all the amenities necessary for city living. The bathroom was a perfect size and the shower and water pressure was perfect.
The location was perfect for us as we did a lot of sight seeing during the day-When we weren't walking the neighborhood and ventured further, we were able to get the RER or metro right around the corner and a quick walk to the other corner to catch a taxi.
At the end of each evening it was nice to come "home" on the quiet street. The only noise we heard was the lovely sound of Mina's husband Marc playing the piano in the early evening. A gifted pianist that added to the charm of being in Paris.
Mina was a gracious and knowledgeable host.
I would recommend this flat to anyone, and would be happy to have the privilege to stay there again next time around.
I must note however, that the two flights of stairs may not be suited for everyone.
Lipp Brasserie, Café de Flore, Café des Deux Magot.
Notre Dame Cathedral, Sainte Chapelle, the Seine.
Saint Germain des Prés church, the Pantheon, the Sorbonne, Odeon theatre, Jardin du Luxembourg.
There are many cafés, restaurants, cinemas, shops, bookshops, antique shops and art galleries on Boulevard Saint Germain and Boulevard Saint Michel, amongst other things.
