|Minimum Stay||3 - 7 nights|
Our family Will be happy to welcome you Normany. We have 4 children (7-14).
We fell in love with the area, and were very lucky to find this beautiful estate.
Le Verclos is a charming estate with an authentic old style. The place is close to the bustling seaside, and so quiet at home!
This tiny cottage in Tracy sur Mer welcomed me, my husband, our two year old son, and my father-in-law for a few nights. It was exactly what I was looking for as a place to stay in the country but close enough to attractions. Our stay was very relaxing and we really enjoyed time spent in the large garden where my son could run and play after a long day of exploring the local area. We made a fire each night in the wood stove and were thankful for the large supply of chopped firewood available to us. As a mother of a young son, I found the washing machine to be quite helpful. There is no drying machine but the large drying rack provided was good enough. We bought food at the local grocery store and cooked almost all of our meals at the cottage in the large kitchen that has plenty of cookware. As far as location, we couldn't have found a better place. A short drive to all of the D-day sites and 1.5 hours to Mont Saint-Michel. Thank you Catherine for renting out such a beautiful cottage and being so friendly via email and telephone!
My husband and I stayed in the lovely cottage for 4 nights. It was very peaceful, quit, relaxing and everything we needed in this cottage. We walked the grounds at night with a glass of wine. It was if we had our own hideaway. The owner Catherine was very helpful. This was our first trip to France and the best part of our trip. We were celebrating our 40th anniversary. Thank you Catherine and Christine.
My partner and I spent a very cosy Christmas and New Year holiday in the little cottage. For a romantic hideaway, it's perfect. The cottage was well equipped and very pretty.
Our days were spent visiting the Normandy beaches, museums and cemeteries and our evenings were on the comfortable sofa in front of the roaring wood-burning stove. Unlike other properties which charge for wood, the gites comes with a 'help-yourself' wood pile which meant we didn't have to worry when the temperature dropped outside.
The cottage also radiators and was so warm we had to sleep with the window open!
We self-catered and although we planned on using the oven, we didn't in the end as we had taken a 'slow cooker' with us. On the photographs it looks as though it is a big double oven, but actually the bottom compartment is a dishwasher! The kitchen had everything we needed, although it doesn't come with drying cloths.
There is a very pretty garden outside, which I guess is more relevant for those visiting in warmer weather.
The shower room was a big hit with my partner as it was so warm! The heated towel rail was a real bonus. The over-head shower itself is very powerful: we didn't try the directional jets, so I'm not sure what they would be like.
The mezzanine above the living room is bigger than it looks in the photographs; I am not sure what it would be like to sleep up there though as there are no windows that can be opened.
Booking the cottage was very easy and the owner was very helpful. We were met by one of her friends who gave us the key and wished us a happy holiday. It was very relaxed and unfussy.
We loved our stay here and if visiting the area again, would definitely go back. If you are a bigger group - the main house is amazing and the back garden is HUGE. It's also safe for children as the large main gates can be closed and locked.
Nous avons beaucoup apprécié notre séjour : le gîte est parfait pour 4 personnes, bien équipé, bonne literie et propre.
Et une mention spéciale pour l'accueil, adorable et prévenant.
Gîte Le Verclos is a cosy little gîte with a large garden, a few km outside Tracy sur Mer. The driveway is shared with the neigbouring mansion. The living room is quite small for four adults, the kitchen is large and well-equipped. Luxury shower but bathroom is a bit damp. Main bedroom is small with a double bed. In the attic of the living room there are two single beds. Given the small space of the open attic it's more suitable for children. Wifi is available via a portable device which you can take with you during the day. The wifi signal is quite strong but the signal from SFR, the mobile network operator, is not. In the living room of the gîte reception is weak so best to keep the device in the main bedroom or in the attic.
Location of the gîte is excellent for visiting the invasion beaches. Arromanches with its remains of the artificial harbour is a 5 min drive and an excellent place to go out for dinner. In Tracy sur Mer itself there are no shops, but the Carrefour at the north of Bayeux is only 10 min by car. On Tuesdays, a mobile pizza vender is stationed at camping Les Bas Carreaux in Tracy sur Mer, and well worth popping by. All in all, we spent an excellent holiday with our teenage sons here, and would recommend this gîte to everyone who loves a countryside location and wishes to visit the Normandy beaches and musea.
La maison est elle que décrite spacieuse et bien décoré un accueil sympathique et de petites attention, elle situé idéalement pour les personnes intéressées par l'histoire de la libération de notre pays. Je la recommande fortement et nous reviendrons sûrement dans quelques temps.
