Overview

About the property

15m saltwater pool + hot & cold shower//hiking, cycling, spas & cultural centers

Go ahead and embrace that feeling. In fact, indulge it completely. The enchanting allure of lovely. The substance of charm. At this cottage-style villa, you have the best of two worlds: the quiet seclusion of a mountain getaway and the convenience of a vibrant village - Ponte a Serraglio - full of cafe’s, restaurants, galleries and spas, at just a 10 minute stroll. Whether it's meditative tranquility you need or a laugh at the local bar over an aperitif before dinner, you can have it all at Villa Colle.

Completely fenced in and secured with a gated entrance, Villa Colle is a warm and luxurious antique structure that has been renovated from floor to ceiling, without sacrificing character. You'll want for nothing during your stay as the villa is equipped with all modern day amenities, including wifi across the entire property. Villa Colle more than comfortably sleeps up to 8, offering an ideal country escape for 6 adults and 2 children.

Afternoons beside her 15 meter hillside saltwater pool, enveloped in the fragrance of fresh rosemary, lavender and jasmine, may bring on a spontaneous sigh or two of “Yes” or “Thank you” as you lie on an ergonomically shaped lounger. Set in a perfectly manicured garden with such dazzling green mountain views and crystal clear water, your prayers have been answered. Take advantage of the pool’s length by swimming a few revitalizing laps. And rinse off under the poolside shower, which runs both hot and cold.

You can continue to nurture your love for the lush garden space at Villa Colle by dining on the ample front terrace, just off the kitchen and equipped with a stainless steel grill. Or maybe you prefer taking your meals poolside to savor under a wisteria-filled pergola.

Step inside to feel the warmth of genuine old-world detail. As you settle in, you'll realize this property has been set up as a home to be lived in, not a rental. Start in the kitchen, with its high wood-beamed ceiling, skylight, natural stone countertops and custom-built chestnut wood cabinets. Stocked with all the plates, cups, pots and pans you could ever need - plus an impressive 6 burner freestanding stove top and oven - you're set up to work culinary magic. The sitting room is cozy chic from the terra-cotta tiles and tuck-pointed stone wall to the cast-iron wood stove and spiral staircase leading up to a loft studio.

Each of the 4 bedrooms resonates with classic charm and boasts a mattress of the highest quality with fine, 500 thread-count Egyptian cotton sheets. Three of the 4 bedrooms are suitable for couples as they are all furnished with king-size beds. The fourth is a children's room with two bunkbeds. There are three bathrooms, 2 full and 1 half. The clawfoot bathtub in the ensuite master bathroom will surely whisper your name after a day of art and glorious architecture in Florence (1 and 1/2 hours by car) or Pisa (1 hour by car).

Adjacent to Villa Colle is a lush forest, ideal for invigorating hikes and mountain biking. The ancient thermal baths of Bagni di Lucca, now housed in an extensive spa center, are only a 2 minute walk from the property. A day by the sea in fashionable Forte dei Marmi is a must during your stay. Only an hour's drive from the villa, the shopping and beach facilities at Forte are second to none. Venture all the way to the Cinque Terre, or stay close by and visit the medieval walled city of Lucca, only 25 minutes away by car. Try bike riding along the path atop the city walls, or just explore the numerous cafes, restaurants, gourmet shops, and artisan boutiques. And if you would prefer using public transportation to visit any of these sites, the Fornoli train station is only a 3 minute drive from the Villa.

Even better in real life - well kitted out villa, great location and very helpful local "host"

  • 5 of 5

WOW - this place surpassed expectations. It looks great on the web, even better in the flesh. The place is huge over 2 levels ( didn't realise this from the website ) and really feels like a home, because it is! Having personal touches around the place, books, maps, well stocked kitchen with some pantry items like oils and spices, herbs in the garden, plenty of crockery etc ( few more mugs for tea / coffee drinkers would be better though ). The garden terraces were well kept. the family loved exploring the property, choosing somewhere different to sit and relax each day. Pool is huge, great for laps or a splash. With Gina our host although due to timings we did not actually meet, she was quick to respond via phone and available to answer questions and being American but living locally was very easy to communicate with. There were no problems during our stay. Would definitely stay at this villa again when in the area. Loved exploring some of the walking tracks up the back of Colle on the bike and with more time available would have taken the mountain bike a bit further towards the Abetone area. A week here is not enough!

Beautiful, peaceful and comfortable house by Bagni di Lucca hot Springs

  • 5 of 5

The perfect set up for a family vacation. This lovely renovated house has all the modern facilities but still has a rustic feel to it. Very comfortable beds and several sitting areas for indoor and outdoor eating. The pool is long enough to swim laps in and is surrounded by a large terraced garden for kids to play in. We loved the wooded shady walk down to the open market (twice a week) and jumping off rocks into the local river just 10 min drive away. Bagni di Lucca has a few restaurants, local shops (and the hot springs) but you will find many hill top villages to explore where you will find delicious fresh food in the most unassuming looking restaurants! If you are into hill walking you can find routes to Refugio's in the Apennine mountains 40 min drive away, but also easier walks to the Grotto del Vento or just cycling along the city wall of old town Lucca while licking gelato. Lucca offers a good days shopping too... We'll be back!

perfect family getaway!!

  • 5 of 5

we are a family of 2 adults and 3 kids (15,11,2) and this tuscan house was perfect for us! the place is tastefully furnished and has a very warm homey atmosphere. much thought was put into the materials and other finishes. all very high standard.

we loved the separation between the adults on the main floor and children on the bottom floor leading out to their private play area. while the main terrace was contstantly used for all our meals directly off the kitchen.

the outdoor area is superb!! with many different areas: an almost olympic size pool, a trampoline adjacent to an elaborate vegetable garden, endless land with complete privacy and magnificent tuscan sunsets.

minutes walk down the hill to the town center for the daily gelato:) and a short drive to wild river for a picnic and some rock jumping..

we will be back again!

Heaven on earth

  • 5 of 5

i've visited this lovely villa twice. once for a quiet romantic getaway in autumn and then returned for an action packed summer holiday with our friends and kids. this stunning house is so cosy, well equipped and kids friendly that it's actually hard to get yourself moving. but once outside there are endless options of things to do and places to see: swimming pool (with an outdoor shower!), a huge trampoline for the kids and a relaxing hammock for their parents.. there's even a spa centre a few minutes down the road from the villa offering the largest variety of treatments one has ever seen. there are great exploring options by foot down the trails overlooking the valleys, ending up at bagni village. the village offers anything you might need including tasty affordable dining overlooking the Torrente Lima river. within 30 min drive from bagni in any direction you'll reach a picturesque village with a nice family owned restaurant. above all everyone agreed that Villa Colle was a true home away from home.. we'll definitely go back.

A perfect getaway!

  • 5 of 5

It is the best place for family vacation , the place is wonderful for kids -the pool, the outside warm shower with the view of Tuscany!

A short walk from wonderful restaurants and cafes. And a short ride from Lucca and other antique villages, so it very easy to have day trips from there.

Very recommended!

A TUSCAN TREASURE

  • 5 of 5

i have had the pleasure of staying twice at Villa Colle, and each time was a fabulous experience

The beauty of being in Tuscan countryside, in a home so tastefully restored, fitted out, so warm, charming and comfortable. The outdoor living area no less beautiful than indoors, including the 15 meter pool and pool setting and stunning views beyond, providing so much enjoyment by day or night, and the privacy and sensation of poolside hot/cold shower is a special experience, my body years for it while now writing this review!

The walks up and down to the village are easy and of course there are many magnificent walks beyond. That is one Villa Colle’s special attractions for me - set in the hillside and the beauty, privacy , peace and quiet of the position, yet close to the village below. From the village you can shop for all your needs, or hop on a bus from there and set off perhaps to Lucca, a half hour away, and from there to Florence for the day, and easily back home for evening swim and barbecue or dinner at any of the delightful village restaurants.

So many choices and possibilities, so much comfort, so much beauty and a wonderful relaxing holiday

assured.
