Circa 1899 structure, beautifully renovated!
Originally located on the railroad track, was moved 1 block away in 1906 when the Frisco Railroad Company purchased the property to build its proposed depot. In the 1920's it became the Crystal Barber Shop, remaining so until the 1980's. Barber shop cabinetry has been restored and is in the front room of the rental.

Part of Crowley's history...that could have been lost because of it's terrible condition. I enjoy renovation/restoration of old properties and was fortunate to be able to save this one!
The Crowley Rice Cottage is the perfect oasis. Upon entry, you are transported to the perfect tropical setting with the lush foliage, calming waterfall and screened patio, it's the perfect vacation. This hidden gem allows you complete privacy, while visiting friends and family. The cottage is well lit, beautifully decorated, spacious, clean, and the owner has taken care to provide "All" of the convienences of home, down to the most intricate detail. The beds were very comfortable; even the room temperature was taken care of. I made the mistake of introducing local family members to thus little jewel, and am afraid it may be unavailable
To me the next time I visit Crowley.
My thanks to the owner. I would definitely stay again.
My sister and I had a funeral in crowley. After seeing the horrible reviews about the hotels, we searched for a bed and breakfast and found this charming cottage. The owner has done a wonderful job in making this a cottage a place of comfort and we would stay here again in a heartbeat. It was very clean, even with the train and bar nearby, we would pick this place over any other. She had coffee, creamer, bagels and cream cheese available for us, the beds were very comfortable and the surroundings serene and peaceful.
There is a lot of love reflected in the Crowley cottage and a desire clearly to make everyone who walks across it's threshold feel comfortable on every level. I am grateful to have learned of the cottage when googling places close to home to run off to because it was truly everything I could have wanted to find and then some. Pictures do not capture the beauty and charm and the details of seasonal decorating just the right added touch. Everything was super clean and done with such class. Thank you to the lovely owner for all she does to give others like myself a little piece of heaven at such an affordable price. Maggie and I may never come back that way but for sure never forgotten. A positive lasting impression.
This trip to Louisiana was my wife and my first empty nest get away. After being absent for over 30 years (I grew up in Lafayette) thought a get away to coming back for a visit just felt right. My wife never experiencing the Cajun life and the beauty of this area as well as my re-acquaintance was a true blessing.
The Crowley Rice cottage was the perfect daily launching and landing point for us as we set out for our daily adventures in Cajun and Plantation country's. The comfort we were surrounded in could not have been any better. This beautifully restored piece of Crowley is delightfully furnished and couldn't feel more like home away from home if you tried. Everything was thought of in this welcoming cottage. Great memories. This is on our list for next returns!
We stayed in this beautiful home last July and returned this July for our second stay. Enjoyed our stay last year and again this year. It is such a beautifully restored piece of history. Immaculate is the only way to describe the home. We love the yard with all the beautiful plants and the fountain and the nice screened porch. It is such a comfortable home and we look forward to our stay next year.
My husband and I have rented many vrbo homes in various places, and this was the best yet! Ann made sure everything was perfect when we arrived, even stocking the fridge with milk, creamer, bagels, butter, jelly, soft drinks and bottled water! WOW! The minute you open the gate to the property, you are entering a lush garden that leads to the back courtyard and fishpond. My grandchildren loved feeding the fish every day with the fish food that Ann left on the back porch with instructions on how much to give them. (She never leaves any detail out; amazing!) The porch was so comfortable with six large rockers and the sound of the fountain in the courtyard. The house is amazing, and the barber shop is fantastic! I've also never visited such a clean house! We loved hearing the train go by and really only noticed it the first night. The bar next door does have a band on Friday nights, but that didn't bother us. If you like to go to bed early and are a light sleeper, just bring a sound machine (there's actually one in the master bedroom). Thank you, Ann, for providing such a wonderful place to stay in the heart of Cajun country!! We will be back!
Crowley is a turn of the century town known to have the largest concentration of Queen Anne and Victorian homes between Houston and New Orleans. It is also a Tree City USA member. The central location in Prairie Cajun Country makes it a convenient place to stay while attending area fairs and festivals.
A great place to stay for bird watchers and nature lovers touring the marshlands.
