Our stay was outstanding!
The property is a bit quaint, but that added to its appeal and our experience. The location was very central to all the villages we had planned to visit. In the evenings it was very quiet. We particularly enjoyed the ability to forage at the area markets then return "home" to prepare and enjoy a variety of meals. The villages offered many wonderful photo opportunities. The owner was very gracious and helpful. This is an experience we will recommend to our friends.
The home itself is beautifully situated in the town with proximity to everything offered. We found ourselves with everything we needed for a perfect visit to Provence. The home is enchanting with ideal spaces inside and outside. Joanne is a knowledgeable and friendly hostess with a good understanding of the area. Our two weeks in Fontaine de Vaucluse passed too quickly but we enjoyed every moment.
Excellent location, beautiful place, wonderful owner
If you love the Provence, then this is the right place for you. The house has a magic provencale atmosphere, in the middle of Fontaine de Vaucluse. And the owner is very nice and approachable. All in all, a great experience.
A restful place to stay in a stunning situation.
A quirky unusual stone house in a stunning village location. The number of steps you have to climb up to the front door and the steep internal staircase may pose some difficulty for elderly and infirm or very small children. It was helpful that the upstairs has a separate entrance so that internal staircase didn't have to be used when steps were dry. Loved the outdoor kitchen with barbecue and the light airy upstairs lounge with views over the village.
Poets in Provence.
Ideally situated for touring Provence, we found the gite clean and comfortable, with a definite character of its own. A rare combination of a quiet but central position, we were able to 'look down' on the tourists! An added bonus for two poets was we were immediately above the Petrach Museum. This was challenging as we have never been inspired by Petrach's work, but it was good to stumble across his museum. Look out for 'Martin Carthy', le patron of 'Restaurant Lou Fanau'.......
What a lovely holiday in Provence!
The house is not only comfortable, but beautiful... We were immediatly impressed and fell in love with Fontaine de Vaucluse! Joanne provided everything we needed to have a restful, calm and peaceful holiday. I highly recommend it!
In the heart of Provence, Fontaine de Vaucluse is a beautiful tourist village and an exceptional site of interest after which the department has been named.
The 'fountain' is the biggest natural spring in Europe (5th biggest in the world). It rises from an unknown depth flowing out at the base of 230m high cliffs to create the river Sorgue.
The picturesque village is dominated by the ruins of the castle of the bishops of Cavaillon and is abound with restaurants and boutiques. It also offers swimming (river and public outdoor pool), museums, hiking, canoeing and trout fishing with golf and horse-riding nearby.
It is an ideal location for relaxing, painting, walking or for visiting the beautiful region:
Isle sur la Sorgue, the famous antiques town; the Luberon - the hilltop village of Gordes, the ochre of Rousillon, the olives, lavender, vineyards, sunflowers...; the city of Avignon with the Pope's Palace and its lively theatre festival in July; the vineyards of Châteauneuf du Pape and the Rhône valley; the famous Mont Ventoux; the Alpilles and Saint-Rémy de Provence with Glanum, its Roman ruins, and Van Gogh's sanitorium; Arles and its Roman arena; a day on a Mediterranean beach or in the Camargue with the flamingoes....
