Great time in Amsterdam
As it’s hard to find a hotel room for a family of 4 within the city center we decided to have a true Amsterdam experience and staying on a house boat. Although I have been many times to Amsterdam I have never stayed at Noord so we decided to take the chance given the commute to the city is very simple short walk to the ferry and a very short boat ride (free) to central station. The house boat is really comfortable with living space on the basement level and 2 room on the main level with fully equipped kitchen. There are some restaurants and shops in the area so it was easy to get groceries. The owner and his son are very nice and accommodating and made the check in and out processes very simple. Definitely going to consider this spot next time I am in town.
Great place in awesome neighborhood
Everything about this place was amazing. Great neighborhood with restaurants and market. House boat was clean and just as pics showed.
Nice place near Centraal!
The houseboat is clean, comfortable and well equipped. It is within walking distance to a couple of nice grocery stores, local restaurants, the Train and the Ferry to Centraal. This place has everything that you need for a nice stay. Sander was a pleasure to work with!
Nice place, quiet neighborhood.
Everything was as described/expected. Sander was easy to get in touch with (although we didn't need anything after we checked in). We were impressed with the number of good restaurants in the Noord area. Really quiet at night, nice for sleeping with the windows open. Not sure why this is the case, but there were very few bugs/insects in this area. We would leave the window open all night and not one mosquito came in. Very different than staying on a boat in the US, where the whole area would be covered in spider webs and swarms of wasps and mosquitoes. Nice kitchen/living area, very well equipped. The only downside is, that it is a bit of a walk to the ferry and to the nearest grocery store. Fortunately, the weather cooperated on the days when we were rolling our luggage back and forth to the ferry. But as noted in the description, the ferries run constantly. You never have to wait more than a couple minutes.
Overall, it was what we expected and a very nice stay!
Sander was excellent at communicating property and rental details prior to our stay. Additionally he provided very useful (and accurate) information about sightseeing activities (Van Gogh museum, Ann Frank House). We arrived approximately 90 minutes late due to flight delays and customs processing. Sander was waiting for us at the front door with a smile and gave us a thorough tour of the house boat. The boat was very clean, had every utensil and cookware you would ever need, and also had coffee/tea, spices and condiments. Finally, there is a market 8 minutes walking distance, and several restaurants within 5 minutes (our favorites were Cafe Modern $$$ and Il Pecorino $$). Wonderful stay!
wonderful houseboat experience
The houseboat was perfect for our group of three. It was clean and comfortable. We loved the location, because it was in a quiet neighborhood, yet extremely convenient to downtown Amsterdam by the 24-hour free ferry. I would stay there again!
Located in a quiet residential area. It's a 10 minutes walk to the free ferry (runs 24 hours a day) which takes you in a couple of minutes straight to the Central station right in the middle of the city. From here all the major attractions of Amsterdam like the Anne Frank House, van Gogh museum etc. are easy to reach by bus or tram. The best way is however to rent bikes to move around like the locals.
