Modern and recently refurnished apartment on a Houseboat in Amsterdam

Bedrooms 2
Separate WCs1
Space 592 sq. ft.
Property type house boat
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, sleeps 4

A modern apartment with a romantic touch on a houseboat. Well renovated, clean and cosy. Tastefully decorated with great care for details. The apartment is equipped with all you could need to make it a home away from home.

The location is very close to the busy centre of Amsterdam but still in a quiet residential area. A nice place to return to after a day of exploring Amsterdam.

The houseboat has 2 separate double bedrooms; not many houseboats have this.

The kitchen is complete, so you can make the choice whether to eat out or make a home meal.

To get to central station takes about 10 minutes by bicycle and 15 minutes by foot. You can also take the bus for 1 stop.

Ferry free of charge taking you over 'het IJ' to central station 24/7, offering a beautiful view of the canal.

The patio was recently renewed and provides two areas to hang out; a place to eat at the picnic table and a place to enjoy your afternoon drinks.

A bit out of the way.

Let me say the owner was great and if your looking for a longer stay out of the heart of Amsterdam this may be your place. But, for a first visit or a short trip — stay in the heart of Amsterdam.

The houseboat is in the north part of Amsterdam and you have to take a ferry and then walk 10 minutes to the house. Not bad, but after walking all day, it was always a bit exhausting to have to do this to get home. Choosing to rent a bike would definitely help.

The ferry itself is wonderful, every 6 minutes by day and every 12 at night. The neighborhood and canal near the house is a bit more industrial than residential feel to it. It’s also very dark and lonely at night - I probably wouldn’t walk alone at night there.

The house itself is as pictured other than it’s a duplex and a bit more scuffed up. We had a group next door that was often up late on their porch chatting making it hard for us to leave the windows open. It’s also just that we expected to have the house to ourselves and hadn’t realized we shared the space.

Overall, I would not recommend to others there for a tourist trip - but may work for someone trying to get the feel of actually living and commuting in the city.

Perfect place to retire to after a busy day sightseeing...

  • 4 of 5

We stayed here with our two daughters who are in their twenties. They loved it! A perfect base from which to explore Amsterdam-a short walk to ferry-5 minutes and you are at Centraal station.

Situated in a quiet neighbourhood yet within easy walking distance to a big supermarket, cafes and restaurants.

The boat itself was spotlessly clean with a well equipped kitchen(excellent coffee provided) along with teabags and a number of oils, sauces etc The outdoor sitting areas are an extra bonus.

Sander provided a comprehensive folder of local information.

Our only criticism-and I appreciate this is a subjective point but we all found the beds very hard-otherwise our stay on The Black Pearl was wonderful-thankyou Sander

Very comfortable, light, clean and easily accessible from the ferry

  • 5 of 5

This was an ideal stay and I would certainly come again rather than stay in the city centre. The houseboat is easy to reach, quiet, comfortable and very well appointed with more than enough cutlery, plates, saucepans etc. Recommended.

Highly recommended ... great value for money

  • 5 of 5

Have visited Amsterdam a number of times over last 30 years and can honestly say the space inside and out you get with staying on the houseboat is such a bonus ... we’d definitely stay here again rather than book a hotel. We were a bit concerned about staying away from the centre at first but our fears were unfounded .... its a really pleasant location, less than 10mins walk to the free ferry that runs 24/7 and you never wait more than a couple of minutes for it taking you straight into central Amsterdam. Communication with the owner prior to arriving was excellent and he is quick to refund our deposit too. On arrival we were met by a very nice lady who explained everything we needed to know about the boat, how to get to the ferry, where the nearest supermarket, restaurants, shops etc were. The houseboat was clean, secure and had everything we needed. We are looking forward to coming back.

Nearest Airport
26 Kilometres
Schiphol Amsterdam Airport
Nearest Train
1.5 Kilometres
Amterdam Central Station
Nearest Beach

Car: not necessary

Located in a quiet residential area. It's a 10 minutes walk to the free ferry (runs 24 hours a day) which takes you in a couple of minutes straight to the Central station right in the middle of the city. From here all the major attractions of Amsterdam like the Anne Frank House, van Gogh museum etc. are easy to reach by bus or tram. The best way is however to rent bikes to move around like the locals.
