This property is in a very good location and is spacious and characterful.

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay and made good use of the facilities such as the dishwasher and washing machine. The huge fridge was also a bonus. the short walk to the town is good for less able people and we liked the decor and comfortable beds.

The cottage could have been a bit cleaner - there were quite a few grubby aspects but these were generally the bits that are hard to keep spotless such as the oven. The upstairs shower also needs a steam clean and de-gunk of the plughole. None of these points spoilt our stay and we would return in the future.

Overall a very nice property with lots of good points.

Very enjoyable

  • 5 of 5

We, as a three-strong adult family, stayed at Cato Cottage for a week and enjoyed our stay to the extent that we would consider a return. The beds were comfortable, the kitche well-equipped, the living-areas spacious, the tv screen larger than usual, and the showers powerful. The smoke-alarm was sensitive! Parking was very adequate and the shops withing walking distance. The keybox was a little tricky on arrival but no problem thereafter. The owners were away but the professional cleaner called in to make sure we were comfortable. A good stay.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind review. We're delighted you had a good stay. We have tried to make Cato Cottage a home from home. You're right the key box can get a bit stuck if keys are put in at an awkward angle. We find a sharp tap can sort it out.

Lovely stay at Cato Cottage in Bridport

  • 5 of 5

We had a simply wonderful holiday in Bridport. Cato Cattage is lovely and felt like a home from home for our holiday. There's so much to do in Dorset and Bridport is a great base for visiting the Jurassic coast and other places inland. The beach at West Bay was spectacular and a walk up Combers Hill is a must. The cottage itself is well furnished and equipped and only a short walk from the centre of town. We are a family with several young children who are already plotting a return visit.

Many thanks for a great stay,

Tim and Ann

Great cottage, great location

  • 5 of 5

My family ( wife + 3 kids) had a fantastic holiday at Cato cottage. Plenty of room, enough for grandparents to visit for a couple of nights. Clean, well equipped, great location. Would definitely go back!

Just perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Four of us stayed over Easter weekend and the cottage was just perfect! It was incredibly well equipped, comfortable and spotlessly clean. There was plenty of space in the cottage, we could all sit together or spread out across different rooms. The sun room was lovely for a cup of tea in the mornings! We also made use of the garden!

The location is a very short walk from Bridport centre so no need to take the car. Parking at the cottage was spot on!

We couldn't find anything to fault the cottage on and a good time was had by all!

Family Weekend

  • 5 of 5

Great place for a chill out weekend with the 'adult' children and their partners. A really comfortable space with lovely sunroom. Garden looked inviting, but it rained, so we lit the log burner instead and felt very cosy! Well equipped, close to a bustling town highstreet and short drives to so many interesting places - should have booked for longer!

Bridport is in West Dorset, close to the Jurassic coast, the famous Chesil Beach and the incredible Swannery and Sub tropical gardens at Abbotsbury. The county town, Dorchester, just 12 miles away, long associated with Thomas Hardy, also boasts the Dinosaur & Teddy Bear museums. Charmouth and Lyme Regis are a short bus or drive away, or you could lose yourself in the Great Dorset Maze. Weymouth has a Sea life Centre and other family activities. Nearby there is the Cerne Abbas Giant to see or you could go to the Haynes Motor museum or experience the Fleet Air Arm in Yeovil. For people who love art/crafts/music, there is a thriving arts scene, with many local pubs having regular music gigs. For those who love history, you could take in some historic houses such as Athelhamton or Sherbourne Abbey or the astonishing iron age fort of Maiden Castle. Burton Bradstock Beach is great for family fun and the cafe, which is open all year, is the perfect place to recover from a long walk.

Great fossil hunting opportunities and special guided trips are special to this area.

Other Activities: Leisure centre with swimming pool

And one of England's few Real tennis courts on the outskirts of the town.

Golf: There is a golf course at West Bay.
