By far the two most important factors in a vacation rental are location and view. This has one of the best locations as far as being close to the beach. (note: I've been going to Catalina for over 40 years and there are not really any bad locations in the one mile square town of Avalon). The view is also excellent. The main drawback is that there is no A/C (which i failed to check in the description). Since there is no A/C, you will need to keep all the windows open and all the fans going all the time. Here, the great location becomes a drawback in that the condo is directly over a bike shop (hence you get a lot of bike shop noise as soon as they open up) and it is next to the busiest street in Avalon (Pebbly road) so you get a lot of traffic noise. Minor Issues with the shower door being off track, master bedroom window latch being broken, ants in the master bathroom, missing light bulb and only three rolls of toilet paper for a family of four spending a week there (some of which management did address when brought to their attention). Nice little deck for sitting outside (although it adjoins the neighbors deck). Closest location you can get to the ferry so you don't have to lug your roller bags too far (taxis are available).
I just got back from an great stay at this place. This place is right on the harbor, yet away from the noise that the valley can produce. I have been going to Catalina for the last 20 years and have rented houses in the flats, stayed at the Metropole (would be the equivalent of a suite) and the Inn at Mt. Ada. This place beats the other for the following reasons:
1) Close to the ferry (no taxi or long walk necessary with bags)
2) Best view
3) Modern conveniences
I prefer it over renting in the flats for the amazing view, over Mt. Ada for its more central location/price and Metropole due to the noise/price. A nice plus is there is an elevator. I would definitely recommend this to a friend as it far exceeded expectations.
